Tips & tricks for winning lottery / euro millions?

I try and play the lottery / euro millions when there's are rollovers. I mean it is not worth getting out of bed for a paltry £2m, is it? :)

I was wondering if any members have any techniques that they'd like to share.

I note there's a quadruple roll over in UK Lottery and £84m in the Euro Millions.

Buy your ticket from a small shop, on a Friday morning. Make sure it is a lucky dip. Pray to St. Anthony or St.Jude. Pay with coins, don't let go of it, like the idiot on TV does, every single week.
Works every time.

As someone who runs the office syndicate, if there was a tip to winning, believe me I would have used it as chasing people monthly for money can be tedious although during lockdown it got a lot easier. Plus the £121 for 4 numbers and 1 star on € millions felt it should have paid a lot more. Between 15 people we are not getting rich anytime soon!!

Don't choose the same numbers every week. It won't affect your chances of winning in any way, but if you always choose the same numbers, miss a week for some reason, and 'your' numbers come up, you'll feel terrible.

The only thing that works is choosing numbers that get people choose less often. We got 5 numbers once, only got £1500 because they were very common numbers apparently!

Someone I know had a system for chosing their numbers (won't share it with me!). They use the same numbers each week and they've won around £250k and £20k. I've won Jack shit!

Random doesn't look random. That's why certain numbers randomly appear more.

I don't need research, I studied statistics and probability to degree level.

I've got a tip to guarantee you win. Make sure you choose the winning numbers. You can't lose.

@ChristineDianaJones No…. It works exactly like that! Have you been sent here purposely to wind me up?! 😩😂 There’s the same probability that exactly the same numbers are drawn every week. But the chances of this happening are minuscule because there are, for example, 49 balls and this means that any given combination of numbers has a 1 in 45 million chance of being drawn. It doesn’t matter how many times you play- every time your chance of winning is the same.

In the olden days when the Lottery was a show on telly on a Saturday night, they would bang on about cold and hot numbers - hot numbers which come up all the time, cold numbers which don'y come up at all. All total nonsense as others have said. It's just as likely the same set of numbers get drawn two weeks in a row.

Sorry OP but you do not understand statistics at all.

Whilst there might be patterns in number these are just by chance and have no bearing whatsoever on the numbers that will be drawn at the next draw. Just do a lucky dip and forget about trying to predict the numbers.

1. You can perhaps increase the size of a win (if you win) by choosing numbers that aren’t the most commonly chosen. Avoid having all birthdays, 123456, all above 31- lots of other people have thought of that.
2. You can increase your chances of winning by buying a ticket.
3. Um.
4. That’s it.

They do have an equal chance but that does not mean they will

Try it with a dice. Roll it 36 times and in theory you should roll each number 6 times. I guarantee you will not.

Just buy 116,531,800 tickets (I think) and you WILL win, although you may have to share the prize with some others who have the arrived at the winning combination with a more random and less costly approach. .
