Tips & tricks for winning lottery / euro millions?

I try and play the lottery / euro millions when there's are rollovers. I mean it is not worth getting out of bed for a paltry £2m, is it? :)

I was wondering if any members have any techniques that they'd like to share.

I note there's a quadruple roll over in UK Lottery and £84m in the Euro Millions.

It’s pure chance, right? So there are no tips or tricks, surely?

Build a time machine. Go forward in time to late Saturday evening. Note down numbers which came up in both draws.

Go back in time to today and buy your tickets!

You need to form a massive coalition of people, like thousands, coordinate to buy every single combination of numbers (you'll need a shit ton of money and people) and buy every one. And really hope no one else wins because then you're sharing and buggered. Oh and I think that might be illegal.

With so many helpful tips, I am guaranteed to win, right? :)

These are some of techniques that I have been using and coming very close to hitting it - missed by a few numbers lately!

1. Picking right combination of odd & even numbers - i.e. odds exceeding evens or vice versa

2. Eliminate a set that draws out least in last five draws.

3. One number from last draw

4. Sum of all main five numbers to be between 95 to 160.

I’d look it up to understand more about why my way is the only way to win.

I'd love to learn more about probability.

I tend to avoid patterns, same last digits and avoid number multipliers.

The rules of probability mean every ball has the same chance of being picked at any moment of a draw. The numbers mean absolutely nothing. There could be 49 symbols on the balls. Or 49 different colours. Or 49 pictures of dogs. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 has exactly the same chance as any other combination of numbers.

So there are no tricks I’m afraid!

And you still haven't won it, right? Might want to rethink your "strategy"...

Bob - I do not it was implied that my way is the only way to win. I don't know where you get that impression from. I am looking for people to share tips/ideas and perhaps we can all benefits.

Anyone who can invent future time machines can make a fortune without having to worry about lottery.

Your ‘tips’ are just superstitious. Each ball is as likely to appear as any other, even if the same number came up last week and the week before.

There is no winning combination that is guaranteed to win - if there was we'd all be winners, wouldn't we? It's purely chance and as life is unfair it probably won't be you, or me, or anyone who thinks they deserve it.

What everyone else said. There aren't any tips other than buying a ticket. You might as well do a lucky dip.

Every ball has an equal chance of appearing, so as wrong as it feels, choosing 1-5 would be as likely to win as any other random combination.

Actually, avoiding patterns is a bad plan. Most people avoid patterns thinking they are less likely to come up. So in the very very vanishingly unlikely event you win, the pattern people won't have to share.

Again though, you aren't going to win. You really aren't.

Never post on social media drawing attention to large rollover weeks.

I do the euromillions hoping I'll win the raffle. For the best chance be consistent.

Just pick 1-6. You're just as likely to win with those than any other combo....

Except this article claims that 10,000 people choose 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 every week (or at least they did when the article was written), so those particular numbers would definitely be a bad idea!

Though you do have almost the same chance of winning if you don't.

Rules of probability:

You probably won't win. I probably already bought the winning ticket.

Only tip I have ever heard that makes sense is to pick numbers 32 and above. People disproportionately choose birthdays as their numbers so that way, if you do win, you are less likely to be sharing with others.
