Vinted - Inpost 24/7 locker help please

I've just sold an item on Vinted and the buyer has opted for Inpost 24/7 locker option. Unfortunately, I forgot to turn this off as it's not as handy as Evri, but I've chosen to honour the transaction as it's not the buyer's fault.

Downloaded the shipping label, but it just shows a QR code, not even the recipient's details. Is that right? It says I need to download the QR code, I don't need to print it off, but I don't want to send a label-less parcel with no information. Tried the website, but I'm none the wiser.

Can I just print the QR code anyway and write the recipient's name on it at least? It doesn't seem very user friendly to me!

Thank you in advance.

Yep you just need the QR code. It’s super easy. Scan it at the locker, a door will open and you put the parcel inside.

Thanks for your reply.

Apologies, but just to clarify. No label at all? How does the recipient know it's for them if I don't put anything on the parcel at all? Can I not at least just print off the QR code and put their name on it?

Won't the locker print off a label for you to attach when scanning the QR code? It's what happens in store with inpost.

I don't know. I've never used one before.

Can anyone confirm whether it does?

Are you sure that’s inpost? InPost I’ve always put an address on.
the other one is a physical parcel shop where you show the code on the phone and they print off and stick on a physical labe.

mummyh2016 · 24/08/2022 11:38

Actually I've just looked and it appears not.

ThisIsAddiction · 24/08/2022 11:39

Just double checked and the barcode only was yodel direct.
AFAIK InPost lockers don’t print labels but could be wrong

faithtrustandpixiedust · 24/08/2022 11:44

When I've used inpost lockers it always gives you a shipping label to download and print off to stick on, you then scan the bar code at the lockers and it opens a locker for you to put in. I wouldn't put it in without a label, how are they supposed to know where it's heading when they collect it from the locker?

100% The instructions were as follows:

*1. Pack your parcel. The parcel must be sturdy and protect the items.

  1. Get the shipping label from the conversation screen with the buyer. Download QR code to your phone. Scan the QR code on your phone at the locker. No need to print it.
  1. Drop the parcel off at the 24/7 InPost Locker Pick-up drop-off point of your choice.*

The "shipping" label is just a QR code telling me to scan it at an Inpost 24/7 locker. No human interaction or anything. At least with Yodel, someone scans the parcel for you and processes it.

I'm just worried about it getting lost in transit more than anything else.

I've dropped at Vinted parcel at an InPost locker. You just scan the code off your phone and it prints a label and opens the locker for you.

Wallabyone · 24/08/2022 11:47

I used the lockers for Evri parcels, and have printed off the labels beforehand. But, for ASOS returns, there is no label...I found it very strange at first but two parcels have successfully been returned so I think that the label must get printed at some point by the company and put on.

Exactly! I'm just confused it says to download the shipping label, which doesn't have an address or even the recipient's name, just the QR code.

Perhaps I'm just making this more complicated than it actually is. So, the thing that's been downloaded, which is just a QR code. Would I just stick that at the front? Picture to follow...

That's what I get as a shipping label, so does this need to be attached on the parcel or will I get one created when I scan this at the locker?

InPost don't need a label, not sure how they do it, they probably print off their own label based on the locker you put it in.

My only hint if using InPost is to remove/cover up any old labels with your address on if you are doing a return. We have deposited parcels in InPost before for them to be delivered straight back to us 2 days later by Evri.

ClearButtons · 24/08/2022 12:01

It's one of their USPs- you don't need a label, just the QR code. The QR code generated contains all the delivery information, you put it in the locker and then the courier is the one that labels it. Supposed to be hassle free for those with no printers

Thank you @ClearButtons . Should have read that properly!

i hope the courier doesn't make a mistake! While doing a search for this, an mner said she had two parcels in her locker, one which wasn't hers.

I'm having the same problem, just wondering if it all worked out by just scanning and putting the parcel in the box OP? Thank you! X

mummyh2016 · 20/09/2022 10:34

@ItsAutumnThen I've used inpost myself since this thread and no issues, parcel arrived at its destination.

Same here, I've always had to print a label and attach it

ThisIsAddiction · 20/09/2022 10:52

Weirdly I had one of these myself after passing on this thread.
it’s been nine days or so since sent and tracking has stopped and it’s not arrived. Spoken to my buyer who’s really understanding and fortunately it’s only a couple of pounds, but if I get one of these again I’ll ask for an address as well.

i did put my return address on it so hopefully it eventually finds its way home.

OhDearWhyAmIFatterly · 20/09/2022 10:58

I've done this for the first time 2 weeks ago. I was confused like you, as it said download label but there was no label! I scanned the code and the door opened, still no label. I popped it in and shut it.
Have now had a notification from Vinted saying the parcel is delayed.... The delivery date has been extended to 30th of Sept! I feel really bad for the buyer, but its totally not my fault!
I just hope she didn't need the items in a hurry!

That’s exactly what mine says.

Brasschamberstick · 20/09/2022 11:03

They know exactly what parcel is in which locker. I watch one being emptied.

Sleeplessinstockport · 20/09/2022 11:41

I had this issue and I was so confused. I then saw an inpost courier emptying the lockes and I asked him. He said you just scan it pop it in the locker and it displays another QR code that you scan with your phone and it send you the receipt like that.
Then when the courier comes to empty the lockers he uses a device which prints off labels for each parcel as he takes them out of the locker. They know which parcel is in each locker.
Hope that helps

That’s really helpful, thank you. Puts my mind at rest a bit anyway.
