Is it worth going on holiday for 4 nights abroad?

Basically in a situation where the in-laws have offered us a holiday to Tenerife for 4 nights all inclusive.
My mil isn't well enough to travel and have said we can have it and it will only cost us the name change which is £50.
Is it too far to go for 4 nights?
Travel in 5 weeks 10.45 am flight and get there for 3.25 pm
Transfer time is approx 30 Mins
Return Friday 4.25 pm flight get home for 9.25 pm.

They have a premier inn booked for the Sunday night too which we said we will give them the money for £55.
We have no children yet so don't have to worry about that.

But ...
Tenerife for 4 nights seems a bit far?
Also I would have to use 5 days of my holidays at work.
Plus I haven't had a chance to plan outfits or anything and most shops have got rid of summer clothes.
I don't know what to do
What do I do?
We said we will let them know tomorrow

I would go. It’s an adventure!

rookiemere · 23/08/2022 18:20

Oh go for it. Tenerife is lovely - yes it's a long flight for 4 nights, but why the heck not.
Is the hotel included?

Earlymenopausesucks · 23/08/2022 18:20

You only really need swimwear, a few outfits and some spends.

magaluf1999 · 23/08/2022 18:20

Im not sure id book it, but if i was being given it for best part of nothing id probably just up and go!

Runnerduck34 · 23/08/2022 18:20

If I had enough annual leave then I'd go.
If it left me short of leave I might not If I needed my leave for something else.
We went to Greece for family reasons for 4 days , it was ok- easier than I thought.
You'll enjoy it when you are there!

Greengreengrassbluebluesky · 23/08/2022 18:21

That would suit me! 4 nights is just right.

britneyhs · 23/08/2022 18:21

Yeah everything included
All inclusive but if you want premium drinks it's 12 euro each as they just have the house spirits and 3 cocktails

rookiemere · 23/08/2022 18:23

Which hotel is it ? I've been to Tenerife quite a lot so I'm just being nosey.

LividLaVidaLoca · 23/08/2022 18:23

I’d be there in a heartbeat.

Ilikewinter · 23/08/2022 18:24

Absolutely I'd go, its not thats far- i went to Vegas once for 4 nights 🙈 .....it will be a lovely break.

almondflake · 23/08/2022 18:24

It's a great idea I've just come back from a long weekend in Portugal, I feel like I've been away for a week , it was just us two no luggage only carry on so no long waits for luggage or in the check in queue.
Go for it and have an adventure maybe book yourselves in a lounge at the airport for an added treat 😁

InsertPunHere · 23/08/2022 18:25

I'd jump at the chance!

LynneBenfield · 23/08/2022 18:25

Yes, it’s fine. We do long weekend breaks abroad regularly (or did pre-pandemic, anyway!).

JustLurkingAway · 23/08/2022 18:26

Oo I did that in feb! Sunday-Wednesday, was lovely just to get away, obviously wish we were there longer but it was still worth it!

Davros · 23/08/2022 18:27

You'd still get summer clothes online.
GO! ✈️

SwedishEdith · 23/08/2022 18:27

4 nights is fine for a short break. Some people would go to NYC for that length of time.

britneyhs · 23/08/2022 18:27

@rookiemere it's hovima hotel Costa Adeje

Same! Or actually 3 nights over easter...it was cheaper than a trip in Europe and it was tiring but amazing!

OP definitely go! Why wouldn't you when it's pretty much free and there's no other commitments it causes issues for for

TheTeddyBears · 23/08/2022 18:28

Listen the only thing Ul regret is that ur not there for longer u will still have a great time. I'd still go and enjoy it think of it as a wee extra holiday and better still it's practically free! Enjoy!

britneyhs · 23/08/2022 18:29

Saying that this weekend I'm going to Blackpool from Newcastle on the national express which is taking 6 hours ..so if I can do that for 2 nights ......

GrandSlamFinalee · 23/08/2022 18:31

Absolutely! But then I love short trips - this year I’ve done, amongst others:

4 days in NYC
1.5 days in Copenhagen + Malmö
2 days in Geneva
2 days in Strasbourg
2.5 days in Vienna

I often go to Spain for 3-4 days - going home, but the flight is the same regardless of reason for travel!

rookiemere · 23/08/2022 18:32

@britneyhs I've not heard of the Hovima, but Costa Adeje is a lovely relaxing location, you're only about 20 mins from the airport so you'll arrive late afternoon on the Monday and probably not need to leave until lunchtime on the Friday. That's bags of time.
