Is it worth going on holiday for 4 nights abroad?

Basically in a situation where the in-laws have offered us a holiday to Tenerife for 4 nights all inclusive.
My mil isn't well enough to travel and have said we can have it and it will only cost us the name change which is £50.
Is it too far to go for 4 nights?
Travel in 5 weeks 10.45 am flight and get there for 3.25 pm
Transfer time is approx 30 Mins
Return Friday 4.25 pm flight get home for 9.25 pm.

They have a premier inn booked for the Sunday night too which we said we will give them the money for £55.
We have no children yet so don't have to worry about that.

But ...
Tenerife for 4 nights seems a bit far?
Also I would have to use 5 days of my holidays at work.
Plus I haven't had a chance to plan outfits or anything and most shops have got rid of summer clothes.
I don't know what to do
What do I do?
We said we will let them know tomorrow

Would you enjoy what's on offer there?
My in laws have a timeshare place in Tenerife they go to regularly and have frequently said we could use it but all there is to do nearby is golf, shopping and restaurants (which I would find utterly boring with a capital B). So I have never taken up the offer.

I've done 4 nights in Los Angeles once (was working related) !! Go for it --

icecoffeeisland · 23/08/2022 18:34

It's only five hours. Read a book and it will fly by. I'm planning on going to Fuerteventura for two or three nights this autumn/winter. I've also been on a few day trips to Europe which were a two hour flight each way. Outfits wouldn't be a worry to me, as you only need a couple of different ones for a four night stay.

britneyhs · 23/08/2022 18:35

Tbh it's been that long since I've been abroad just lying around the pool /beach would be enough for me.
Maybe 1 night at a nice restaurant
I think I'm just gonna do it
Less than £100 what have I got to loose

Absolutely bugger all to lose- ! Raise a glass to us all !

Busydrinkingcoffee1 · 23/08/2022 18:44

I've just done 4 nights in a country the same distance with my son and it was very worth it!

Whataretheodds · 23/08/2022 18:46

I'd bite your hand off

FelicityRelaxington · 23/08/2022 18:48

Of course you should do it! It's a mega deal!

Well your loss.

You could have a day trip to La Masca which is a gorgeous village at the top of a steep and slightly scary road, or go out to Mount Teide and get the cable car to the top.

Or if you like water parks Siam Park is one of the best in the world, or go up north and visit the Botanical Gardens.

People seem to be unreasonably snobby about Tenerife in a way they aren't for most beach destinations.

20viona · 23/08/2022 18:50

Yes absolutely

Needmorelego · 23/08/2022 19:13

@rookiemere I am guessing you need to be able to drive to visit those places. I don't drive.
I am sure Tenerife is lovely. I expect there's loads there I would enjoy. I was just saying that my in laws timeshare is essentially in the middle of a golf course and if you don't drive (or play golf) there is nothing much to do.
That's why I asked the OP if what she can do over those 4 days she would enjoy.
I wouldn't go for 4 days to stay on a golf course 🤣
As she seems to like the idea of an all inclusive plus restaurants she has decided to go. OP - hope you have a nice time.

cadburydarkmilk · 23/08/2022 19:13

It's the same days and similar flights to when we went to la Cala. I didn't think it was long enough either. Would have loved to be there longer but it actually was perfect
Remember travel insurance! It's often what I forget to sort when travelling last minute

Do it and have a great time. You won't regret a holiday. Enjoy xx

Frazzled2207 · 23/08/2022 19:14

I wouldn’t choose it for such a short duration but if handed on a plate I’d def go.

38daystogo · 23/08/2022 19:25

I'd go because you have no kids so let that be the reason you enjoy just up and going without any responsibility!

I don't think it's uncommon for people to book a holiday for 4 days. I wouldn't book it personally but it's been gifted to you.

hellcatspangle · 23/08/2022 19:26

Yes of course, we have done European city breaks for 3 nights before.
