Emma Watson's new Prada perfume is so tone-deaf

aspiringwriter3456 · 19/08/2022 11:31

Emma Watson is the face of a new perfume from luxury fashion house Prada, which is not known for being sustainable, ethical or accessible

During an upcoming recession, cost-of-living crisis and high inflationary times, why is self-proclaimed feminist and eco-activist Emma Watson promoting Prada's perfume?

Where is her energy for helping women in the UK survive this recession, helping the environment, promoting activists who do this etc.?

Is Emma Watson Hollywood's greatest hypocrite? She did get caught in the Panama Papers for avoiding tax, which while legal is not ethical
And during the pandemic, she claimed she stayed at home to protect the NHS but was seen holidaying abroad numerous times and getting out of a helicopter to her Chelsea home with the disgraced Phillip Green's son

I don’t know anyone who buys perfumes, they all get it on sale for Christmas or birthday presents and it lasts years. It may be a luxury but a lot of people find a way to buy/get it. Have only bought 2 perfumes since I was 16. Loved Emma Watson in beauty and the beast by the way, anyone who hasn’t seen it should try it!!!

she was quite cold and wooden in BatB-- she lacked the original warmth of cartoon Belle and her features are too sharp and low-trust looking to be a Disney Princess imo

The knives are out for her today. And isn't the point of luxury brands that they are exclusive not accessible? Even for this site, it's dumb getting worked up about that. I wonder if the poster is a teenager just now starting to learn about the world. It's a necessary phase, but Christ it's dull to be exposed to it. All that stating the blindingly obvious with so much anger.

More research on what
I'm on here ranting about what a hypocrite Emma W is
why would I want to research that-- I'm not writing a uni essay

I’m not convinced you’d be able to write a ‘uni essay’.

OP you seem too invested and angry and bitter. Look after yourself, you’ve too much hate in there, it’s not worth it, especially for someone you don’t know x

@aspiringwriter3456

doubt most people here can afford to spend their money on prada's perfume anyway

How offensive is this?!

midsomermurderess · 19/08/2022 16:58

Why be offended by an utter tit making unfounded assumptions about the discretionary income of people on a site that gets over a million individual hits a week?

aspiringwriter3456 · 19/08/2022 17:03

I meant that most people in the UK can't afford Prada perfume due to the cost of living crisis
only the rich can now

nobody here is slamming her appearance
she is a public figure who does public work-- why can't the public critique it?

Well, this didn't age well. You're now slating her looks.

ChipsRoastOrBoiled · 19/08/2022 17:30

I didn't realise what a raging hypocrite she is. Makes sense now as I believe that Markle idolises her.

You think that's stupid?
Have a look at her/his other thread

avocadotofu · 19/08/2022 18:25

This is just a nasty thread. Firstly, it's her job so yawn. Secondly, Prada perfume isn't a luxury good.

EarringsandLipstick · 19/08/2022 20:53

@aspiringwriter3456

You really need to take a look at yourself. Such bitter, spiteful posts - as well as being completely uninformed.

BruceWaynettaSlob · 19/08/2022 21:19

I'm surprised this thread is still here. They deleted op's other troll thread.

"I think it was serendipitous that Prada came to me with this project. It was around the time when I had decided in my heart, and my head, that I wanted to direct something. I found the concept of being a woman who’s a paradox so interesting. Something that really stuck out to me when I was sent the idea for the fragrance was that Prada is about upstream narratives. And I instantly though, ‘Oh my god, that’s me, that’s how I feel.’ I feel like I’m always running against the current. I’m really curious, I try to be a free-thinker as much as one can be, given the constraints of the society and the system we live in. It grabbed my attention. I really wanted to be part of something that gives women more strength, freedom, power and self-confidence That’s what I feel when I read the story of why Prada Paradoxe had been created. I instantly felt that I have always been a paradox. Prada Paradoxe gave me permission."

A load of babble for Pseuds' Corner.

midsomermurderess · 20/08/2022 01:57

It’s weird it’s still running isn’t it. An angry 14 year old given free reign.
