Emma Watson's new Prada perfume is so tone-deaf

aspiringwriter3456 · 19/08/2022 11:31

Emma Watson is the face of a new perfume from luxury fashion house Prada, which is not known for being sustainable, ethical or accessible

During an upcoming recession, cost-of-living crisis and high inflationary times, why is self-proclaimed feminist and eco-activist Emma Watson promoting Prada's perfume?

Where is her energy for helping women in the UK survive this recession, helping the environment, promoting activists who do this etc.?

Is Emma Watson Hollywood's greatest hypocrite? She did get caught in the Panama Papers for avoiding tax, which while legal is not ethical
And during the pandemic, she claimed she stayed at home to protect the NHS but was seen holidaying abroad numerous times and getting out of a helicopter to her Chelsea home with the disgraced Phillip Green's son

Is it bash Emma Watson day?

RaRaRaspoutine · 19/08/2022 12:20

I think she's a knob. Always has been since she was a kid - stuck-up and self-important. Little snob on the set.

It certainly looks like it 🙄

aspiringwriter3456 · 19/08/2022 12:40

Why can't we bash for?
People bash Meghan Markle, another self-important celeb
People bash Kim Kardashian, who at least doesn't pretend she cares about others people

@aspiringwriter3456 aspiring journalist? What rag are you doing this "research" for?

TooBigForMyBoots · 19/08/2022 12:50

Actress earns money advertising perfume shocker.🤯

aspiringwriter3456 · 19/08/2022 11:40

doubt most people here can afford to spend their money on prada's perfume anyway

I don't believe this.

Why not? We are in a cost of living crisis in the UK? Most people except the already wealthy like Rishi will suffer?

Who are you writing this for?
To be honest, it'd be more effective, although more effort, to do proper research.

😂 You're so wrong.

TypeMite · 19/08/2022 12:58

@Hobele

Tbh the OP isn't far wrong

Many wrongly think MN is middle class but most are not, considering the threads where posters think being on £30k a year is 'wealthy'

aspiringwriter3456 · 19/08/2022 12:58

More research on what
I'm on here ranting about what a hypocrite Emma W is
why would I want to research that-- I'm not writing a uni essay

OP posts:
aspiringwriter3456 · 19/08/2022 12:59

even the middle class will soon feel the recession and inflation
only the wealthy will not be affected and continue their lifestyles of buying luxury shit

Or for a daily newspaper?

So it's ok to bash someone else?

Prada perfume isn't that expensive? Bit like Chanel. A lot of men gift their wives/partners/daughters perfume of that price range as a birthday or christmas gift. Not at all out of range for most people.

I don't have an opinion on Emma Watson. This is her job, making money for being famous. Most people don't have very ethical jobs.

JemimaPuddlegoose · 19/08/2022 13:04

This is so hypocritical.

Attack her politics all you like, but slamming her looks and work because of her politics makes GC women look petty and anti-feminist.

You know damn well if Emma was GC she could have made the exact same perfume ad and everyone would be raving about it.

Branleuse · 19/08/2022 13:06

I didnt know that she did a perfume until you posted this, so all youre doing is advertising.
Plenty of people on here can easily afford prada perfume.
The fact Emma watson is selling it would put me off a bit as i dont like how she treated JKR.
As for the other points, i dont know why she would be expected to not work

slowquickstep · 19/08/2022 13:06

EW is a two faced and attention seeking, best way to deal with folk like that is to ignore them.

aspiringwriter3456 · 19/08/2022 13:07

she has millions thanks to HP and residuals too
she doesn't need to work
she could easily dedicate her life to charity if she choose to but she'd rather be doing this vanity project that helps nobody

she's in the news online and in print media
so it's hard to avoid
like the kardashians or bieber
can't stand celebs but have to see them every time I open my news feed

Maybe you have 'entertainment' as your newsfeed? You can adjust that if you want to. I have newsfeed, it's mostly updating on Ukraine, our crappy government and possible thunderstorms. There's no mention of any 'celebs'.

Perhaps just change yours to 'news'?

aspiringwriter3456 · 19/08/2022 13:08

I don't work in journalism

OP posts:
aspiringwriter3456 · 19/08/2022 13:08

nobody here is slamming her appearance
she is a public figure who does public work-- why can't the public critique it?
