Nose piercing- which side?!

treesandweeds · 17/08/2022 23:11

Does it matter? I'm a 50 year old woman and I'm getting my nice pieced, on the side, tomorrow. I had it done twenty years ago on the left side.

Does it matter what side I do? Does any side "mean anything?!! " !!

Left. Don’t know if it means anything but definitely left.

Cstring · 17/08/2022 23:23

Left, I asked the same question and my piercer said it doesn’t matter which side, people have either, it’s whatever you feel would look best.

supadupapupascupa · 17/08/2022 23:23

For me it was better on the right because that's the way I tilt my head when I kiss. Keeps it From getting nose knocked.
I took mine out for my wedding and it healed up. Too scared to get it redone now!

Which is your dominant hand? It’s easier to change it if your piercing is the opposite side to your best hand.

lozengeoflove · 17/08/2022 23:24

Your best side?
I want to get mine done but am too scared!

AnneLovesGilbert · 17/08/2022 23:26

It’s really not scary. For various reasons I’ve had it done 3 times on the same side. All good. Can’t imagine my face without it.

CornishTiger · 17/08/2022 23:28

Look at photos and see which side you naturally seem to favour.

lozengeoflove · 17/08/2022 23:34

@AnneLovesGilbert its the thought of it not healing, or knocking it out accidentally the worries me.
The needle bit I think I could stand 😬

TwoShades1 · 18/08/2022 01:40

Do you have a better side? Always stand a certain way in photos? Part/style your hair in a certain way? These will help determine the best side for you.

Snowoctopus · 18/08/2022 02:00

Left side is the traditional side to have it pierced on in India

treesandweeds · 18/08/2022 07:19

Hmm, I have my parting on my left side of my head.. does that matter?! I had left side last time when I was 16!

Mine is on my right. I stuck a small stick on jewel on each side to see what each side looked like and picked the side I preferred.

Mol1628 · 18/08/2022 07:32

It doesn’t matter or mean anything. Just whichever you want. I’ve got mine done on my right to balance out my un symmetrical ear piercings as well.

DownNative · 18/08/2022 09:49

Most people appear to favour their left for this.

CrimsonCountess · 18/08/2022 09:59

I have it done on both sides so I didn't have this problem Grin

EddieHowesBlackandWhiteArmy · 18/08/2022 10:01

I got left, DD got right. It’s personal preference I think. Although when I got mine done first time round I’m sure apparently one side or t’other signified you were into the laydeez. Complete bollocks obvs.

DameHelena · 18/08/2022 10:02

Maybe try a stick-on one to see how it looks/feels?
Mine is on the right; just feels more natural and 'right' that way. But I do also happen to be left-handed, so I guess it is easier to handle, although I'd never thought about the practicalities until I read AnneLovesGilberts post just now!

PandaOrLion · 18/08/2022 10:05

Mine is on the right. It’s fairly easy to get in and out that side and it looked better on me. My piecer said it was more usual to get it on the right however it doesn’t seem like that for this thread!

Facefortheradio · 18/08/2022 10:05

Thanks for this thread op!

This is my next piercing. I have a tonne of piercings in my right ear so thought left would be good but then I have a beauty spot (mole, lets be honest!) on my left side so wondered if it would draw more attention to it.

So I'm still undecided but it's useful to see why other people chose the side they did.

LetsGoCrazyPurpleBanana · 18/08/2022 10:47

When I had mine done in 1990,I was told left is right and right is wrong.

LadyDanburysHat · 18/08/2022 10:50

I think most people having left is because they are right handed. I had mine done on the right, but I am left handed.

DaveMinion · 18/08/2022 12:15

Mine is left but because I'm half indian ans it's the traditional side so it's part of my heritage.

I'm the same, I want it done on my left but I have a small raised mole right next to my nose on the left side, which I'm not overly bothered about but I feel like a nose piercing on that side would really draw attention to it

Rockbird · 18/08/2022 12:27

Left. I'm left handed and can't imagine how I'd change it on the right?

LolaMontezz · 18/08/2022 12:30

I got the left side of mine pierced first and then the right about six months later, so I've got both nostrils done, wear a ring in one and a stud in the other.

I'm right handed and find the right side easier to deal with than I did the left but that may also be because I'm more confident in changing the jewellery etc the second time around Smile
