Anyone else got a Simba mattress and HATE it?

We got a Simba back in June and it's giving me the worst backache and back spasms almost every night. I HATE IT.

I stupidly convinced myself 9and DH and his wallet) that is was the mattress for us but it's vile.

Going to try the 100 night guarantee once I've swallowed my pride and told DH I hate it. Is it just me?

Not sure what to get next - we had an Eve topper on our old bed and I loved it.

I absolutely love my Simba mattress.
Its very firm which is what I need for my back.

However, I have had mine for over 100 days (probably about 5 months) and it dips where I lay, and it's softer there now too.

So I'm back to square one with lower back pain and there's nothing I can do about it.

Headred · 16/08/2022 10:39

My DS hated his. It was returned without any trouble.

JorisBonson · 16/08/2022 10:39

@ImEasyLikeSundayMorning I've read that happens a lot!

I'm curvier than average and probably weight a little more (I weightlift and am from a long line of very hourglass shaped women) and it's just not working for me at all - it's been like that from day 1 but I've tried to bed it in (if you pardon the pun).

Good to know, thank you! Just need to figure out what to get to replace it.

I hate ours with a passion. But decided to stick with it and then due to life getting in the way I didn't end up returning it in the guarantee period.

Biggest waste of money ever. Its too soft and has dipped on both our sides a lot, I know it would as we sleep on those parts but it's quite bad, the zip to the mattress protector broke as well so had to use mattress without it and sheets kept sliding off. Have straps under the mattress now to keep the sheets on.
Really wasn't worth the money.

Surely you can return that under the 10 year warranty though?

Yours is actually faulty.

ofwarren · 16/08/2022 15:48

I hated it too. Lay on it once and then rang them to return it.
Horrid.

Aria20 · 16/08/2022 15:49

Hate ours too and it makes me hot! Ours hasn't dipped but we rotate it once a month so we are effectively swapping sides and top/bottom of the bed so it's even. All the hybrid ones are the same formula so I can't imagine Eve or similar would be any better? I wish I'd returned within the 100 days but they took our old mattress anyway so we'd have had nothing to sleep on.

Margaritawithlime · 16/08/2022 15:51

Get a Hypnos. Absolute best thing ever

This is exactly why I haven't bothered to return it. Because surely they would all do the same?
I rotate mine really regularly, it was monthly but it wasn't enough so now I rotate is as often as I change the bed linen. It helps a bit but only for a matter of days.

I just Googled Hypnos and they have those great dimples in them.

They are murder if you have lower back pain/sciatica/whatever the eff I seem to have.

Which cuts out half the mattress options!

I wish I could suggest an alternative OP because I have the same problem.

BlueKaftan · 16/08/2022 16:01

Costs a fortune but our Tempur hybrid has been a game changer since we got it 5 years ago.

JorisBonson · 16/08/2022 16:14

@ImEasyLikeSundayMorning DH and I off to Benson's later on in the week for a lie down, will report back. The spare bed will have to do while we figure it out!

londonmummy1966 · 16/08/2022 16:28

DD has sciatica and has a hypnos with a topper over it and that works well.

InquiringMinds · 16/08/2022 16:35

Had one and we both ended up with spine issues (never had any back problems prior to it). Returned without any issues.

However, currently in ongoing legal nightmare with Emma mattress! Do read Trustpilot ratings - the negative ones as we we ended up with serious health issues, pain all over and they took four months to refund us! And we had to fork out over £1000 on acupuncture, acupressure and cupping. It’s helped our backs but not solved the damage.?

We ended up getting a bamboo mattress on recommendation from friends and it’s perfect. Hoping you get sorted OP.

JorisBonson · 16/08/2022 16:36

Bamboo, interesting, thank you!

Many years ago I got a Simba single for the spare room and everyone loved it, but, I realise in hindsight they were all small-average people.

Looking to replace our mattress last year and closest seemed to be a Dreamcloud. Got it, persevered for a few months and we concluded it just wasn’t worth the £ for a barely-average mattress. I returned it under the guarantee without an issue.

Friends mentioned dreams matress finder whereby you lay on their special bed in store and answer some questions and it recommends you a handful. We did it, ummed and aaahed for a week or two and then purchased it, and I wish we’d done it sooner. Six months later and I still love getting onto it each night!

JorisBonson · 16/08/2022 16:49

Didn't know that

JorisBonson · 16/08/2022 16:49

I WISH THERE WAS AN EDIT BUTTON

Didn't know that was a thing @AnotherDelphinium , thank you!

I bought a John Lewis mattress after trying it in store. I admit at first, it was firmer than I liked and took a good few months to settle in but I love it. I stayed in a Simba bed in Mexico and wasn’t crazy tbf

JorisBonson · 17/08/2022 11:00

@AnotherDelphinium did you have to make an appointment to use the snazzy bed or did you just walk in?

OP posts:
AnotherDelphinium · 17/08/2022 13:26

Just walked in. I don’t think they pre-book it, it took less than ten minutes to do. Then another hour looking at the suggestions.

Madbadandusuallysad · 17/08/2022 19:50

@ImEasyLikeSundayMorning that didn't even enter my head about the warranty (I really am struggling with my memory lately) but thank you, we emailed them today and they have requested pictures of the problem areas so they can see if we are covered.

JorisBonson · 18/08/2022 10:44

@Madbadandusuallysad I've just sent my pictures and refund request off too. Found the mattress of my dreams last night but can't afford it unless Simba refund us.

Madbadandusuallysad · 18/08/2022 22:20

@JorisBonson let us know how you get on and I will do the same. Here's hoping we get somewhere!
