How do you find time to listen to your podcasts ?

I have so many good ones in my library but just can't listen to them .
I hybrid work , WFH 2 / 3 days a week and then the office but office is 10 min in the car so no time there .
If I put my earbuds in at bedtime I fall asleep within 10 mins and don't remember where I started .

I'm busy when I'm awake lol . I'm wondering if I should wear them when walking the dogs but then I kinda want my wits about me .

How do you all do it

Don't you do any housework or drive?

Lottapianos · 14/08/2022 17:21

When I'm cleaning
When I'm out walking
When WFH doing admin stuff
Sometimes if I'm awake in the wee small hours

lillipilli · 14/08/2022 17:22

Do you have no free time at all of an evening?

EmpressaurusWitchDoesntBurn · 14/08/2022 17:23

When I’m exercising, doing housework or crocheting. I live on my own though, apart from the cat, which probably makes it simpler.

NooNakedJacuzziness · 14/08/2022 17:24

If it's only a 10 minute drive to work could you walk it instead? That's when I listen to mine, 30 mins there & back.

User129867588 · 14/08/2022 17:25

Cleaning the house
walking the dog - can still hear things going on around me as don’t have it crazy loud and I use my AirPods
when out grocery/clothes shopping

MassiveSalad22 · 14/08/2022 17:26
  • making dinner (wireless headphones if necessary)
  • evening walks
  • If ever I’m in the car without the kids, even 10 mins here and there
  • hanging washing out
  • around the house if kids at school and baby asleep
RaininSummer · 14/08/2022 17:27

Walking to work is usually when I listen. can you switch out the drive

Googlecanthelpme · 14/08/2022 17:29

Walking the dogs!

You can always wear one earphone or stick to more public walking areas like parks when you want to play one?

sometimes when I clean, sometimes when I work and I’m doing something fairly automated and not detail orientated

QuebecBagnet · 14/08/2022 17:30

When I’m cycling.

LynneBenfield · 14/08/2022 17:31

Walking the dog
In the bath
Sitting in the garden
Doing random chores
Driving
In bed (I use the sleep timer on my phone to stop it playing endlessly to itself).

EquallyDivided · 14/08/2022 17:32

I struggle a bit too, but partly that’s because I listen to audio books too. I listen on my drive to work and back sometimes, but that is also the only time I really listen to the radio so I alternate a bit and it’s only 15 mins each way (and no I couldn’t walk, it’s 10 miles of dual carriageway). I don’t like listening to them when there are other people around as I invariably miss bits and also miss what they are saying to me, it’s stop start all the time. So if I’m on my own at home doing housework or gardening I listen then, occasionally listen when out walking but often prefer to walk in silence and absorb my surroundings.

Any of you listen to Shagged married annoyed? I’ve only recently started and am
addicted!!

EquallyDivided · 14/08/2022 17:34

The listening in bed thing eludes me too, I wouldn’t want to fall asleep with airpods in so don’t use them in bed.

It’s not my thing, I listened to one but it wasn’t my sense of humour.

southlondoner02 · 14/08/2022 17:37

When washing up
When out running/ in the gym
When I walk to the shops
On the commute
I often go for a walk at lunchtime if wfh and have a listen then too

Geranium1984 · 14/08/2022 18:16

I'm the same! Work and have a toddler. I have friends who reccommended podcasts and I just don't have any time when I'm not sleeping, working, entertaining my toddler or chatting to my husband!
I've only just started reading again after having my boy and I get through about 10mins of a book before my eyes are closing.

mangomama91 · 14/08/2022 18:17

Normally when I'm making the dinner or washing up.

Abraxan · 14/08/2022 18:17

When driving ti/from work, although that's only about 15 min each way
When working at home (and during PPA time with headphones in) unless it's something really wordy when I struggle to listen to talking as well.
When cooking in the kitchen or doing some housework
On holiday flights/travel
On holiday, with headphones, round the pool or chill out time
Currently in school holidays so during the day when home alone

Yes, I enjoy it.
Started about a year late but binge listened over school holidays and on some flights in past year.

Workyticket · 14/08/2022 18:22

Not podcasts but Audio books.

On my commute (metro and walking)
Walking anywhere
Supermarket
Crocheting if dh is watching something I don't want to listen to

Mainly when cooking or ironing. I've just done a big batch cook. Had a long listen to a few chapters of the Bee Keeper of Aleppo whixh made me cry more than the onions 😪

BarbaraofSeville · 14/08/2022 18:57

I listen when out walking as well as during cooking, driving etc.

When walking I just use one wireless earbud so I can also hear traffic and other people.

ChagSameachDoreen · 14/08/2022 19:01

When I'm doing the dishes, hanging out the washing, going round the supermarket, cooking.

icebearforpresident · 14/08/2022 19:08

At work, I’m in the office but work for a small firm where I’m the only employee and frequently have the place to myself, or at home while i’m doing the dishes, in the shower etc. It’s pretty rare these days for me to fall asleep without my earbuds in but I only fall asleep to thing I’m not overly bothered about missing, so no series/narrative type podcasts but things like WTF with Marc Maron or one off episodes of things like Beautiful/Anonymous.
