How do you find time to listen to your podcasts ?

I have so many good ones in my library but just can't listen to them .
I hybrid work , WFH 2 / 3 days a week and then the office but office is 10 min in the car so no time there .
If I put my earbuds in at bedtime I fall asleep within 10 mins and don't remember where I started .

I'm busy when I'm awake lol . I'm wondering if I should wear them when walking the dogs but then I kinda want my wits about me .

How do you all do it

During housework or when in bed bed in the time I'm relaxing before sleep doing sudoku.

Whatliesbeneath707 · 14/08/2022 20:16

Whilst doing something else - food shop, walking round town, cooking, cleaning etc.

I also listen if I wake early (4.30 - 5.30 am).

I've stopped watching TV and replaced it with podcasts & reading.

museumum · 14/08/2022 20:17

Running. I have a kind of earbuds that let a lot of external sound in too so with a spoken voice podcast on I can always hear my surroundings too.

I go for a walk on my lunch break. I'd like to listen when doing housework but I don't have free time in the house alone so I just get interrupted.

CravenRaven · 14/08/2022 20:19

Mostly walking the dog, in the bath or doing the gardening/allotment.

Notjustabrunette · 14/08/2022 20:21

When I’m jobs around the house ad when I’m cooking. If I’m working on something not too taxing like a bit of editing I’ll put one as a bit of background noise.

Itsthelookitsthelook · 14/08/2022 20:21

Wireless earbuds, walking the dog, cleaning, sorting laundry, washing up, basically any housework - its how I get through it. Also when cooking and driving to work or exercising. And when getting ready, while doing makeup and hair.

WinterCarlisle · 14/08/2022 20:22

I listen to Fortunately with Fi Glover and Jane Garvey when I’m doing the housework. It’s brilliant and makes the bloody endless laundry and cleaning for a big family soooo much easier 😊

hopeishere · 14/08/2022 20:22

When walking the dog, watering the garden and when cooking dinner. Occasionally in the car now I've new fancy Bluetooth in it!

Ohmych · 14/08/2022 20:25

For me it's when I'm walking to and from school alone and on the bus to work. Does anyone have any podcast recommendations I could do with a new podcast.

I only listen to one which I listen to on the bus to and from work. It comes out every Monday about an hour long ... so suits me well...

Yes, I enjoy it.
Started about a year late but binge listened over school holidays and on some flights in past year.

Same here, when I started I listened to like 30 episodes in a week 😳 I did a lot of walking and reorganising/getting rid of stuff we don’t need. I proper lol to myself while out and don’t care what people think. They are definitely not for everyone, told DH about the ‘let’s talk about poo’ segment and he couldn’t believe I listen to it 🤣

eurochick · 14/08/2022 22:42

When hanging out laundry.

In the shower.

Linnet · 14/08/2022 22:56

When I’m walking to and from work.

Ohmych · 15/08/2022 13:03

Thanks for the recommendation that looks good.

I also listen to shag, married annoyed, hence why I can only listen to it alone.

Did any listen to my father wrote a porno? That was laugh out loud funny.

Wateringthegarden · 15/08/2022 13:08

I listen to audio books while I dog walk and do absolutely anything around the house that I don't need to engage with my family.

Dog walks about 2hrs a day. Then an hour or two doing jobs.

I live rurally though so rarely see anyone while dog walking.

Watchthesunrise · 15/08/2022 21:06

Like someone else said, if you are only driving 10 minutes then consider walking there instead.

BarbaraofSeville · 15/08/2022 21:15

But a 10 minute drive could be a 15-20 mile round trip Confused

megletthesecond · 15/08/2022 21:17

While litterpicking the local streets.

Woolandwonder · 15/08/2022 21:32

Literally all of the time. I really struggle with not listening to something. I really need to try and ween myself off listening to stuff!
In bed in the morning having a coffee
Showering and getting dressed
Driving anywhere
Washing up and other housework
Gardening
Between work
Pre sleep and in the many insomnia hours

ThreeRingCircus · 15/08/2022 21:44

My commute is a 10 minute drive. It's 7 miles down the motorway, I definitely couldn't walk it!!

OP, this is the main reason I go to the gym.....so I can listen to my podcasts in peace. The health benefits are an added bonus 🤣

BertieBotts · 15/08/2022 21:52

When doing housework
When on public transport
Sometimes on a walk, especially if I'm trying to get DC to sleep.
I don't drive but DH puts them on in the car.

hattie43 · 20/08/2022 08:38

Thanks everyone .
I always want to be doing nothing when I'm listening so I can concentrate but It's apparent that most do them whilst doing other tasks , I'm amazed people listen in the shower though .
I can't walk to work , although it's a short drive my own road has no pavements or street lights so isn't safe for pedestrians and even if I navigated that the rest is through dual carriageway roundabouts and industrial estates.
I think I'm going to try and incorporate it into my dog walks and see how that goes .

I find the opposite - if I try to listen when doing nothing then I can't concentrate. I get distracted and my mind starts doing other things and I miss parts.

If I occupy my hands and eyes when my brain is only engaged in something really simple then I can focus my brain energy on listening to the podcast, and don't get distracted.
