Just wondering if worth investing in one

I’ve had mine for 7yrs and I love it. Use it all the time!!

OzonoffS · 13/08/2022 16:19

We love ours. I always swear never to buy more Dyson because he is an arse, but it is the quietest fan we've ever had, and when you are trying to work, or watch TV, that matters. It even has a night setting which is slow, but almost silent. Wonderful.

esgee · 13/08/2022 16:39

I've had a Dyson for 5 years, all good until I tried the Meaco.

Totally knocks the Dyson out. Ultra silent.

If you want pretty, go for the Dyson

if you want effective, go for the Meaco

Cervinia · 13/08/2022 16:40

IMO, no shite and overpriced. Quiet yes, cool? not partcularly. Mine is the big donut one, I prefer the cheap Argos one on a pedestal that was a quarter of the price.

dmask · 13/08/2022 17:45

I didn’t rate the Meaco at all, they are great at dehumidifiers though!

AdoraBell · 13/08/2022 17:48

I think they are good, a hotel we stayed in had them. We can’t afford them though. If you have the money then go for it.

urgen · 13/08/2022 17:49

Was in John Lewis today. Dyson fan at £500 anyone? It’s a fan….

I have a hair dryer and cordless vac by Dyson but I don’t understand the price of a Fan that you use for what 2 weeks A YEAR!

I have a tower and pedestal fan and they are fine. The tower fan rotates and that is the most important thing for me. You could buy 10 fans for the cost of 1 Dyson fan.

ShirleyPhallus · 13/08/2022 17:51

I have one and a £15 bog standard fan and the only better thing about the dyson one is that the toddler can’t get her hair trapped in the blades. Apart from that the performance is the same.

save your money

LizzieSiddal · 13/08/2022 17:52

We have one, thought it was ok, but not worth the money and in this heat it just hasn’t been good enough. I’ve just had to buy an air conditioner unit.

upliftingtwisting · 13/08/2022 18:16

I asked this a while ago and it was a resounding waste of money.

LividLaVidaLoca · 13/08/2022 18:17

I was given one to use in hospital, and while it looked nice and was fun not to get anything trapped in, it certainly didn’t cool any better than a £10 Argos fan.

Yankydoodledandy · 13/08/2022 21:44

Right not sold to me.

Been our and got a pedastool one from Asda £22

I think its tubb

Lndnmummy · 13/08/2022 21:51

I think its rubbish. Wish I'd saved my money and got an ac unit instead our £99 cylinder John Lewis one is much much better.

ncforthis1pcmarriage · 13/08/2022 21:53

Nope, get a Meacon instead. £150 each and quiet, and rotate fully so really help air the room.

Disclaimer: I'm a fan expert. Obsessed with fans Grin

I use a fan 365 days a year Blush

I read the threads a couple of years ago and went for the Meaco instead - have not been disappointed.

Riverlee · 13/08/2022 21:56

We’ve become Medco fans (which are a lot cheaper at Costco).

Fiddlersgreen · 13/08/2022 21:58

jumping on the thread, sorry op.
anyone got a link to the meaco fan you’re all recommending? Thanks

Crazymadchickenlady · 13/08/2022 22:10

I love my dyson fan. It’s really quiet. We have the big round one without any heating or air purifying

ChagSameachDoreen · 13/08/2022 22:49

I have two and they're amazing.

WotsitsQuavers · 13/08/2022 22:51

Meaco for us

£330 hairdryer? No chance.
I use a fan every single night. Winter and summer. Still wouldn’t pay for a Dyson one.
There was one in a holiday home we rented last summer. It was quiet but not particularly powerful.

InFiveMins · 13/08/2022 23:00

I spent a small fortune on my Dyson fan and it's alright but nothing special. I wouldn't buy another one if it broke. I resent how much I paid for it.
