My new tattoo disappeared within a week! Why?

It was only a small one and it was on my ring finger. It was a daisy - yellow centre and white petals. No black outline, just those two colours

Now of course I am very aware this wasn't going to have the longevity of a black ink / deep colour tattoo. But I didn't feel much at all when it was being done, no pain and it didn't feel like it had actually gone into my skin much. And it just sort of sat on the top.

Anyway, it scabbed a bit and then it just came off - all within 7 days and now there is no trace of it whatsoever. Not a thing

What do you think? I have a small red and green tattoo on my finger and a tiny black one - they've been there a year.

Should it have lasted longer than a week?! The tattooist said it was always a risk due to the colours which I understand but I expected longer than a few days

Have you been out in the sun?

ChickenChop · 12/08/2022 13:41

@Sparklingbrook nope. Treated it exactly as I did with my other two. And it literally just ... dropped off

Jesus, I had tattoos out of a 10p mix-up that lasted longer. Surely you go back and get a refund, that's ridiculous.

Could you show us a photo? How are reviews of your tattooist?

SecretMoomin · 12/08/2022 13:44

I was warned against finger tattoos and white/pale ones as they can fade ridiculously fast.

This does seem quick though, I’d maybe ask the tattooist?

Elsiid · 12/08/2022 13:45

Go back

Ridingthegravytrain · 12/08/2022 13:47

Could it maybe be like happens with eyebrow tattoos where they disappear and come back? (Clutching at straws)

ErmIDontKnow · 12/08/2022 13:48

Did you pick the scab off?

Internetwanderer · 12/08/2022 13:48

I had this happen with a yellow star that was part of a tattoo - the star literally lifted off my skin after a few days. I went back and they reside it with a slightly different shade which has lasted ok.
They did say that occasionally a colour can be rejected. Yes, go back and see if they can redo it.

Daisypod · 12/08/2022 13:49

It shouldn't have gone that quickly. I had a white tattoo 10 years ago and although faded a bit you can still see it. I would go back to the tattooist, or get another one's opinion. Were they recommended to you?

ChickenChop · 12/08/2022 13:50

No picking, no nothing. It just .. feel off. Flaked off I suppose. I'll find a pic of the day it was done and now ..

Internetwanderer · 12/08/2022 13:50

Redid it....

ChickenChop · 12/08/2022 13:52

Photo attached

As you can see, my nails are still in place and barely grown .. that's how quickly it went Grin

I was just very surprised. And when I think about it, like I said - I had no pain. There was no bleeding at all. Like it did it go into the skin

@Daisypod I've used them before - I have two other tattoos, very tiny, on my fingers but hidden a bit

CableTidy · 12/08/2022 13:56

Doesn't look like it's been done deeply enough, but without lining and with those colours it was always going to fade super quickly, especially where it is

Danikm151 · 12/08/2022 13:56

I think the placement of it had an impact.
i had a foot tattoo and stupidly played football with some kids whilst volunteering- bashed it about so some of the colour knocked out and had to get it redone.
your fingers get a lot of movement and the colours aren’t the best for staying.

Carrieonmywaywardsun · 12/08/2022 13:58

It definitely hasn't been done properly. There should be traces left even if they do fade quickly with pale colours, no lines etc. Speak to the artist

ChickenChop · 12/08/2022 13:58

@CableTidy yep I think this is it. I didn't feel a thing. Literally nothing. No sharp scratching

ChickenChop · 12/08/2022 13:59

@Carrieonmywaywardsun I believe this is true, yes

I've asked them to re do it with different colours and I've asked if there is an additional cost

Don't let them charge you again. They should have done it properly the first time and told you if they couldn't.

CableTidy · 12/08/2022 14:12

Agree with @girlmom21 there should be no charge for fixing this

Pbbananabagel · 12/08/2022 14:16
  1. it’s white and yellow
  2. its on your hand
  3. if you’re right handed then it’s on your dominant hand, which makes the wear faster anyway with washing etc.
IcakethereforeIam · 12/08/2022 14:17

That's simple but pretty. I thought at first it was on your nailConfused, I deffo need reading glasses. I hope the tattooist redoes it for nothing.

ChickenChop · 12/08/2022 15:05

@Pbbananabagel uh huh. In 6 days though?

Sheepreallylikerichteabiscuits · 12/08/2022 15:07

Sounds like they didn't go deep enough
