My new tattoo disappeared within a week! Why?

It was only a small one and it was on my ring finger. It was a daisy - yellow centre and white petals. No black outline, just those two colours

Now of course I am very aware this wasn't going to have the longevity of a black ink / deep colour tattoo. But I didn't feel much at all when it was being done, no pain and it didn't feel like it had actually gone into my skin much. And it just sort of sat on the top.

Anyway, it scabbed a bit and then it just came off - all within 7 days and now there is no trace of it whatsoever. Not a thing

What do you think? I have a small red and green tattoo on my finger and a tiny black one - they've been there a year.

Should it have lasted longer than a week?! The tattooist said it was always a risk due to the colours which I understand but I expected longer than a few days

That's simple but pretty. I thought at first it was on your nailConfused, I deffo need reading glasses. I hope the tattooist redoes it for nothing.

Me too!
I wondered what the OP was about 🤪🤪

Yea hide saying it wasn't done deeply enough are correct I think. No stinging, deep scratch feeling at all and it was definitely sat on top of the skin

Hey - I’m a tattooist. Of course it fell out - finger tattoos are notoriously difficult to make ‘stick’ and almost always require touch ups. 1000x for colour tattoos and 100000x for pale colours like white and yellow.

It’s nothing to do with the tattooist’s skill or anything, it’s just how these things work. I always make it very clear to customers that finger tattoos do not heal well and usually require touch ups. Same goes for foot tattoos.

If your tattooist did not make this clear to you before you got the tattoo, then I would say yes go and ask for at least a touch up. They should offer these for finger tattoos regardless, although sometimes you may be asked to pay for touch ups.

Also, to anyone saying they didn’t go deep enough, it looks in the picture like they did it very nicely, but in white and yellow in this location it is just gonna fade straight away.

The skin there is thin, so if you go any deeper you’re gonna get blow outs, which look awful. The reason you probably didn’t feel much OP is because honestly this area really isn’t very painful and it’s a tiny tattoo.

@ChickenChop yeah seriously, have it redone in black, it’ll still look cute and last a lot longer
