Watching the early years when Carol is pregnant. I absolutely loathe Susan, she's vile. Splits up a family, feels entitled enough to give a baby she's not related to her OWN surname and constantly insults poor Ross with "sperm donor" comments. How did he not smash her face in? I know it's not real.

Rachel is the prettiest and wears amazing clothes, but Monica in the first couple of series is really beautiful. Also - mature Richard was much better for her than man baby Chandler.

Janice has a heart of gold and is actually pretty wise. She's a good friend to have.

Hate to say it but Joey is a loser. Freeloading off Chandler, barely works and treats women like shit. If he was real he would be hated on here.

If I could I would have ended it as:

Monica and Richard - who now wants kids with her (yeah I know he's old but he's just so bloody great).
Chandler and Kathy, who returns towards the end. In my version she never cheated on him, just had to move away for work.
Ross and Rachel - I know everyone on here hates him but although he was clingy at the beginning he chilled out a lot over time.
Phoebe and David. Never took to Mike.
Joey - happy to remain a serial shagger... but he could have at least scored a hit show role or something.

And there you go!

All of the characters changed during the whole series but I really hated Monica’s development. She started out a nice, sweet, but slightly neurotic and bossy woman, and ended up a screeching, awful, bullying banshee. She is unrecognisable at the end to who she was at the beginning.

The writers absolutely did Monica dirty as friends aged! In the first few episodes she is cool, confident and beautiful. They made her totally shrill and awful! In one of the earlier episodes Chandler says she is the most beautiful woman he has ever seen in real life, and I think there’s something in that - CC was stunning (much more so than JA and LK IMO - although let’s face it, all of them are gorgeous).

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Monica and Richard together and Tom Selleck is just absolutely dreamy BUT the two episodes where Monica and Chandler get engaged are my favourite ever and it still makes me howl with both laughter and tears every time I watch it. Joey buying the boat and saying Chandler is ‘a complex fellow, unlikely to take a wife’ and Richard turning up to sabotage and Rachel and Phoebe discussing how they’re ‘not at all jealous’ and then persuading the guys to be their back up marriages. I absolutely love it - it’s the episode I can watch over and over without getting bored of it.

Hmm I think Gary pushed her into moving in and I don't think they'd been together very long, she moved out straightaway as soon as he pissed her off (although to be fair what he did was terrible).

Emily - she was obviously just in the way and wasn't meant to be liked, I mean when Rachel felt like she had to leave the room and her own friends when she was ranting about "Ross knows better than that!" Although you can't blame her for being insecure to be fair!

The bit where Ross ended up going on Spring Break with Elizabeth made him look awful, really clingy and controlling. Bruce Willis was hilarious though.

Would have liked Helen Hunt to have a bit of a bigger part. Reece Witherspoon was apparently too intimidated by the live audience to do any more scenes. Christina Applegate did a marvellous job portraying Amy.

@LydiaBennetsUglyBonnet I loved Phoebe with Gary the cop too! They just seemed to go so well together.

Controversial I know, but I love Phoebe when she's a bad ass in later episodes...

Unpopular opinion but I hated Richard & Monica together. I didn’t really have any opinion until Rachel tells that ‘dreamy’ story about how she fell off her bike as a little girl and he helped her up and kissed her head. So he’s now sleeping with someone who as a little girl went to school with his daughter - in real life I think it would be so creepy.

Not just saying this because I liked Pete so much.

Richard's character is literally my dream man. Older, wise, calm, financially stable and just a strong, dependable man with a sense of humour. I'd marry him tomorrow 💕

Yes that's all a bit weird I can t imagine I could have fallen for an old friend of my mum and dads ,when I was Monica's age ,but they did make out he didn't recognise her so he cantvl have seen her for years .

CaptainCreepsBourgeMobile · 07/08/2022 21:09

Monica's flat didn't match her personality. It was too frilly and fussy. Her personality would prefer clinical white interiors.

It's not weird to be close to your siblings and spend a lot of time with them but I thought it was a bit weird Ross and Monica being in the same friendship group.

Chandler and Phoebe weren't messed up enough considering their childhoods.

No Chandler referred to her as a "slutty nurse" and she replied she was actually a nurse.

Agree on the Joey thing - he was so unbelievably stupid towards the end it just wasn't normal.

Ross has the best one liners and is easily the funniest out of them all. The scene where he rocks up with his leather pants in his hands covered in paste and the "I'm an eight!" thing was hilarious. Don't get me started on the home video camera catching him with his afro! I was crying!

I'm pretty sure she meant that her costume was not a slutty nurse costume but just a nurse costume. So she was not a nurse, just dressed as one for Halloween.

Also massive shout out to Nora Bing "don't you have a little too much penis to be wearing that?" 🤣

The episode where chandler proposed is the longest "day" ever and spans over 2 episodes. In the same day, Rachel is with Paul who starts crying for "14 hours," whilst chandler is running all over place after Monica to find her etc.. then in the same "day" he proposes to Monica and the whole evening of them getting dressed up to go to the plaza and Rachel/Ross kissing. Plus chandler not being able to "perform." So much happened in that 1 alleged day!

Also it's over two seasons where chandler has a massive weight loss and puts on weight I can't remember which way round

I always thought the susan Saga was a bit out of order... Carol and Ross were married it’s not like he was some rando she met. The fact Carol went along with the surname thing was a bitchy move.
chandler and Rachel had the most growth on the show. Chandler and Monica were great together, I loved them more than Ross and Rachel.. I still love them though. Monica and Chandlers back and forth was comedy gold. Loved Joey, yes he was a free loader, but back then didn’t we all have a friend that was similar? He was portrayed so stupid it was funny.
I loved mike and phoebe. David was a bit awkward for me, Hank azaria played him very well though .
janice was just Janice.... I loved how she just basically taunted Chandler even after so many years. He got with her at a time he 2asnt great with women then couldn’t get rid of the woman.
