It's absolutely excellent, but not for the easily offended (or children/young teens).

PinkFrogss · 01/08/2022 18:56

My main advice is to look into the plot a bit and maybe listen to some of the songs before you book a ticket. It’s certainly not for everyone

Lengokengo · 01/08/2022 19:00

I found it brilliant but it’s pretty on the edge and lots of swearing. If you are likely to be offended then don’t. Agree with the PP, read a bit about the plot, it takes the piss out of religion and people in general.

I loved it. It’s by the writers of South Park, and I hate South Park / family guy etc. but I still loved it.

It was actually less sweary than I was expecting (it’s mainly one song - hasa diga ebowei that’s edgy) the rest of the soundtrack is actually quite classic musical theatre and it’s great! I was surprised at how good the soundtrack is actually.

I wouldn’t take anyone under 16 though!

StealingYourWiFi · 01/08/2022 19:04

It’s FANTASTIC. If you’re easily offended though don’t bother. To be fair they don’t leave any race, sexuality, age, ability out so…

ShirleyJackson · 01/08/2022 19:07

I’ve seen it three times. Very funny, great tunes, but not for the easily offended.

User135792468 · 01/08/2022 19:07

Fabulous. You won’t regret it!

tobee · 01/08/2022 19:09

It's great. I downloaded the soundtrack album and the songs are fabulous in their own right.

Notmrsfitz · 01/08/2022 19:10

It’s fabulous - I loved it and it’s all a bit tongue in cheek but such a great show !!!

ChillysWaterBottle · 01/08/2022 19:14

Its terrible. I was so bored I would've left halfway through if the tickets hadn't been so expensive.

lovesicksucker · 01/08/2022 19:19

Dreadful. Not remotely funny, but you'll have people around you OTT howling with laughter. It's one big cringe-fest - the show and the audience. Avoid.

ajandjjmum · 01/08/2022 19:23

DS loved it. Bought DH and I tickets and we really didn't. Nothing to do with the edginess - just found it boring. Horses for courses I suppose.

orbitalcrisis · 01/08/2022 19:27

If you know anything about the LDS church and you're not easily offended you should enjoy it.

Dmsandfloatydress · 01/08/2022 19:41

Racist and pretty uncomfortable watching a bunch of white people crying with laughter at the " stupid Africans ". Felt the Mormons got off pretty lightly in comparison.

I think you may have missed the point a little.

Simonjt · 01/08/2022 19:44

If you think racism and mocking people with HIV is funny.

whiteroseredrose · 01/08/2022 19:45

My family loved it. I was a bit upset about parts of it.

Don't go if you are sensitive.

LizzieSiddal · 01/08/2022 19:46

If you don’t mind a show which features rape then you may enjoy it. I left at the interval.

HermioneWeasley · 01/08/2022 19:52

It’s gratuitously offensive and I loved it

Freddie28 · 01/08/2022 20:02

I was looking forward to the performance, having missed being able to see it in NYC. We are definitely not prudes in any shape or form. Certain lines are repeated for the shock factor, after it was said once, it became ineffective, boring and unnecessary. (Regarding rape). We watched it in London and sat through it hoping it would get better - it didn't. Parts of it reminded me of Glee or a school production.

Frazzled2207 · 01/08/2022 20:03

I loved it but is def not for everyone

Jolinar · 01/08/2022 20:24

It's definitely marmite! Personally I loved it. It's ridiculously offensive though.

woohoo54 · 01/08/2022 22:21

Nope I found not that funny and over hyped. A 5/10

Tigertigertigertiger · 01/08/2022 22:22

Best show I’ve ever seen.

I’m guessing satire isn’t something you’re familiar with. It most definitely isn’t taking the mickey out of black people! It’s mocking homophobic racist religious zealots.
