Big summer party help!

We're organising a big party (so far 11 people have confirmed). It's kid friendly but there will be as close as an open bar as you can imagine.

Here's the menu:

  • Margaritas
  • Strawberry Daiquiri
  • carnitas (slowed cook pork)
  • birria (slowed cook spicy beef)
  • refried beans
  • nopales (cactus leaves)
  • chorizo and potatoes
  • quesadillas
  • chicharrones (puffy pork scratchings)
  • flan (crème caramel)
  • churros
  • fruit kebabs
  • beer
  • all 4 types of wine

Would you eat/ drink that? We know it's a bit "exotic" but I'm Mexican so it would be a waste not have authentic grub

I think you have too many things to cope with. I would many simplify it a bit.

All looks good to me and I would definitely eat it all

Most things can be prepared beforehand. I originally thought of having fried tacos, but too much hassle.

Do you think a chicken based dish is needed? A good chunk of our guests won't eat that much pork

The food sounds AMAZING (I love Mexican food). Any veggies coming? Maybe need another option for them.

For the vegans there's the cactus leaves + potatoes + beans. Vegetarians can also have the quesadillas. I could make sautéed mushrooms. I'm tempted to make ceviche but DH isn't a fan.

As a non meat eater I would have liked a more substantial veggie dish - maybe a version of one of the meat dishes with a meat substitute?

Still dribbling over the menu tho.

Unfortunately we don't have that many substitutions in MX. I can think of courgette flowers or "Mexican Truffles" but they're hard to come by.

Looks lovely but if you are likely to have my parents coming have plain unsourced chicken drumsticks or wings and salad! Know you guests, do they do foreign food. I do they don't, love strawberry daiquiris btw! Oh and do a non alcoholic fruit punch

As for veggies - I make quorn enchiladas with the fake chicken. Taste good
