Do teenagers still have posters all over their rooms like we did in the 90s?

What do preteen/teenagers bedrooms look like these days? Just a random thought.

No posters here. Or interest in them.

i suspect the death of teen magazines is a factor. They’re accessing stuff online, not reading smash hits which comes with a poster in the middle of every edition.

RockinHorseShit · 30/07/2022 12:33

Mine has a wall of neatly lined up instant camera photos of her friends & experiences, a couple of properly framed large vintage posters & lots of boho type printed fabric throws pinned to the ceilings in a Bedouin tent sort of vibe

Ringmaster27 · 30/07/2022 12:35

I was teenager not all that long ago…..and as a poster up thread said, I think the death of teen magazines has killed of posters!
I had a few “special” posters that I’d got from HMV, photos (printed off in Boots!) of me and my friends, I also kept everything from places I went - concert tickets, cinema tickets etc and had a load of those in a collage with photos on the wall.

Swannning · 30/07/2022 12:39

Teen DD has walls covered in photographs - friends, parties, holidays etc along with mini posters that are basically 'good vibes' type memes - the youth version of 'live laugh love' I guess

Swannning · 30/07/2022 12:40

Oh and fairly lights strung round the top of the walls

Babyroobs · 30/07/2022 12:40

No none of mine have. My 17year old dd has lots of pictures of friends/ our dogs etc. But then again none of my four kids really seem to be into music/ gigs etc like we were at their age.

RJnomore1 · 30/07/2022 12:41

Mine does. Kpop posters from the albums.

IncessantNameChanger · 30/07/2022 12:44

None of mine have either. One has various flags up on the wall. I dont think they are into any current bands either tbh. With spotify they like stuff I did as a teen! The music culture has massively evolved since I was a teen.

Hellocatshome · 30/07/2022 12:46

Nope DS1 who is 15 has a football flag he took to Wembley on one wall. A large photo of Central Park on the other and on the others some shelves with football trophies and a few framed photos.

DS2 who is 12 has sports memorabilia and shelves for trophies etc. And a few photos of him competing in his sport.

Saisong · 30/07/2022 12:49

My 15yo is a huge rock music fan and has band posters - Green Day, Ramones, AC/DC etc. Plus a Stranger Things poster and a huge wall map. She loves ordering new ones off the internet. Also a pin board of her art and photos. Not much wall left!

Don't know why that seems to have posted twice?

Yes, this. I was musing on this the other day, my room was covered in cut outs and posters from magazines.
DS1 wanted a poster of his favourite show and it would cost £20!

BigSandyBalls2015 · 30/07/2022 12:53

DDs are 21 and had One Direction posters all over their walls in their early teens.

ChanceEauFraiche · 30/07/2022 12:55

Teen DD has no interest in posters. She has various coloured lights, hippy scarves & fake vines plants hanging everywhere and incense / candles which she is banned from lighting Grin. She doesn’t have any celebrity crushes or heroes, really. She loves ‘designing’ her room, though.

Teen DS has a massive framed Breaking Bad poster 🤔, some Marvel posters, and a print of a 90s rapper he likes. The difference is they’re expensive posters, framed and hung.

Me and my sister shared a room and our walls were covered in scrappy Smash Hits pull out posters. I was Madonna-obsessed and would cut out every photo of her I could get my hands on in magazines and make big collages that I stuck to my wall with sellotape (my Mum was NOT impressed).

Later in my teens I had rave flyers all over one wall and a life sized poster of the US R&B boyband Jodeci on my other wall. I used to kiss my two favourite members,
K-Ci and Devante, goodnight every night 😂

We had to make do and mend in those days. My mum wasn’t going to fork out for picture frames or any fancy Knick knacks.

MoonKnight · 30/07/2022 12:56

Yep. Both my teens do. Ds (17) has rap/futurama and dd(18) has dr who/fnaf and marvel. Not from magazines though, they buy them online or from hmv.

diningiswest · 30/07/2022 12:57

DD has Stranger Things and Bowie posters up; used to be Dr Who but that’s been taken down. Along with lots of her own artwork and random things she cuts out

TheWayoftheLeaf · 30/07/2022 13:01

I didn't in the 2010s. It ruined the wall art I'd carefully chosen.

hagelslaagfiend · 30/07/2022 13:11

Redecorated the other week for 12yr old DS. Posters of animals from science and nature magazine covered all walls. Now replaced with framed pics of space/planets and LED lights. His choice.

troppibambini6 · 30/07/2022 13:12

Yep dd17's room is covered in them. In fact her room is very much like mine at that age even down to the bands, she's very into 90s indie.

AndNobbyDancing · 30/07/2022 13:14

Wall to wall with football/rugby/sport posters, started due to buying Match of the Day magazine which has posters. I don't think it would have started without the magazine.

Newnormal99 · 30/07/2022 13:17

My daughters room is full of posters and photos / postcards

Some of the posters she gets from concerts (£25 for limited edition Phoebe Bridgers one this week!)

She orders a lot of postcard type ones online at minimal cost. Also gets photos printed online as well

She has some picture type shelves that she uses to display her vinyl.

She also has a big Harry styles fabric hanging thing.

She's running out of space in a good size double bedroom.....

nicky2512 · 30/07/2022 13:21

Ds (16) is into cars so has posters out of car magazines everywhere.
Dd has concert posters and Kpop posters and cards etc.

CantaloupeMelon · 30/07/2022 13:23

No posters here - pictures and photos.

Oldraver · 30/07/2022 13:34

16 year old DS has a Newcastle, Howay the Lads flag and a Pan Pride flag
