I'm starting Saxenda on Monday, this will be my first time. Does anyone have any advice or stories they'd like to share?

I've just ordered my first lot! For those saying they use Ozempic, is that available in the UK? Only it didn't come up when I ordered the Saxenda as an option...

Dogappreciationsociety · 15/08/2022 19:36

Ive been on it for 5 weeks. Lost 19lb.
Im working on the basis my BMI (50+) means that the risks of my BMI far outweigh the risks of this medication. Im gonna try it for a year and see how i get on.

Knittingmamma · 16/08/2022 22:59

I got mine from Simpleonlinepharmacy. Has anyone else used them? I tried to get it from Lloyds, but they were a nightmare and then I found this which was cheaper - but four days later my bank account has been scammed and this is the only new site I have used so feeling a bit paranoid! Suddenly worried about injecting stuff I've bought online from a site that didn't need a prescription. Am I being paranoid?

Have you looked up the url on trust pilot?

Knittingmamma · 17/08/2022 05:10

Hinchcliffeandmurgatroyde Thank you I've just looked it up and it seems legit. They must have got my details some other way - it's driving me mad trying to think how!

driedout · 17/08/2022 08:01

@Knittingmamma I use them and have had no issues.

Grananger · 17/08/2022 08:05

I’ve been on ozempic (weekly version of Saxenda) for a year and have dropped 5 stone. I buy it on private prescription from “mybmi” which seems to be the cheapest so far. Amazing stuff and I look and feel like a new woman.

Babymamaroon · 17/08/2022 08:12

Where's the best place to inject for least pain?

driedout · 17/08/2022 08:13

@Babymamaroon the needles are so fine you barely feel it. I do stomach or upper thigh.

Babymamaroon · 17/08/2022 08:14

@driedout oh good thank you! It suddenly occurred to me I hadn't thought that part through Grin

bippityboppity87 · 17/08/2022 11:06

Sorry if this has already been answered, but having a quick look at it now on Asda pharmacy. So 1 pen is £55 which says lasts roughly 2.5 weeks, or 5 pens for £230

I was thinking of trialing it first and pay for 1 pen just now. As £230 is a lot of money for something that might potentially not work

What did everyone else do?

driedout · 17/08/2022 11:07

@bippityboppity87 bought one pen and lost 6lbs in first week so ordered 3 more from Boots with the welcome20 as the discount code and saved 20%.

bippityboppity87 · 17/08/2022 11:08

Ah thank you! @driedout

Babymamaroon · 17/08/2022 11:24

I went straight in for the 5 pens and fervently hoping that was a good move!

bippityboppity87 · 20/08/2022 11:15

That's me got my first pen. Went for one pen as I can't afford the £230 just now. Wow I'm impressed at quick that was! Delivery and administration

Took my first shot this morning, which seemed pretty straight forward. So far so good

Do you think if this works well, I might be able to transfer care and get further prescriptions on the nhs? I suppose all I can do is ask. They know Keto hasn't worked, I've spoken to a dietician. So I've already gone down the relevant avenues

driedout · 20/08/2022 11:16

@bippityboppity87 it's really hard to get on the NHS. I tried and failed!

bippityboppity87 · 20/08/2022 11:21

@driedout Ah well that's annoying! I'll ask anyway. I asked the nurse initially, who said that I wouldn't be allowed the pen because I have IBS. But Asda pharmacy gave it to me know problem 🤔 so I don't know who to believe now!

bippityboppity87 · 20/08/2022 11:22

No problem* even

lostinabook · 22/08/2022 07:01

Weighed in for the first time today after 10 days and has lost 1.9kg (big to start with!) Which I am pleased about

NationMcKinley · 22/08/2022 08:00

I’m very tempted to try this. I have about 3.5 stone to lose. I have a pretty healthy diet and I’m active but I think years of working shifts (incl nights) has screwed my metabolism. Going to look at both saxenda and ozempic but can’t decide!

good luck everyone

Narcheska · 27/08/2022 19:49

I’m starting next week (boots have approved my prescription just need to be told to pick it up)

can I ask what people eat? Online I keep seeing mostly bland foods mentioned and small portions but I just want an idea realistically what others eat.

Knittingmamma · 11/09/2022 12:11

How is everyone getting on? I've been using it since mid August and have lost 1st 4lbs so far. Having no appetite, no cravings, no urge to eat has been great, but I am really struggling with constant nausea. The first two weeks we're ok - I felt sick the first two days then it faded, but since the 1.8 dose I just feel sick and exhausted all the time and it's really impacting my everyday life. I am wondering whether to reduce the dose again - has anyone had any advice about how to reduce it?

Babymamaroon · 11/09/2022 12:14

Wow! Your loss is fantastic! With your dosage, it might be a case of having to push through it...

I've had to reduce how much I'm taking based on the nausea...even having to miss a day as it was too debilitating! That said, I think I'm finally coming out of the nausea phase so will be upping to 0.6 every day and take it from there.

Knittingmamma · 11/09/2022 12:18

Thanks @Babymamaroon ! How long have you been on the 0.6 dose?

Babymamaroon · 11/09/2022 13:10

@Knittingmamma about 2 weeks
