I'm starting Saxenda on Monday, this will be my first time. Does anyone have any advice or stories they'd like to share?

The nausea is something else,
isn’t it? It reminds me of being pregnant - simultaneously feeling a bit hungry at mealtimes but also so queasy you don’t really fancy anything.

@Moderatelyobese you've hit the nail on the head, it's just like that!! I think I definitely need a break from it tomorrow, I just wonder whether to have nothing or a lower dose.

I tried it for 6 weeks last year. It definitely reduced my appetite by the end of the third week, mainly because I felt slightly nauseous a lot of the time. However,I was able to cope with it. What I couldn't cope with though was the dreadful feeling of total exhaustion and lethargy that hit me at the end of the fifth week. I felt absolutely dreadful, like my whole body was made of jelly. I had no energy at all. I stopped taking it and within 4 days,I was back to normal. I'm not trying to put you off OP, apparently what I experienced was quite unusual. But thought I'd just warn you!

How does Ozempic compare cost wise? I know it's weekly whereas Saxenda daily but is it cheaper overall?

I’m really interesting in trying something. Can you use it if you’re on Citilopram?

i am very obese and need some help. The only thing that has ever worked for me was Metformin which was prescribed for my PCOS and to help my fertility. As soon as I got pregnant they wouldn’t let me have it anymore as I am not diabetic

do I just go and ask my GP?

How do you go about being prescribed saxenda? I've tried a number of weight loss methods and nothing so far has stuck. Can I contact my gp with that information and request it? What is the process?

FavouriteMug · 12/09/2022 07:30

Depends where in world you are. In UK, it's almost impossible to get it on prescription so you'd have to pay yourself via a private one.

I use The London Slimming Clinic, but looks like Boots and Asda pharmacies also prescribe it.

I took a day off from it yesterday and felt so much better. Still not hungry, but no nausea and fatigue. I've gone back to 0.6 dose today and feel well but a bit more inclined to snack so I might try 1.2 tomorrow and see if I can find a balance point.

I got mine from SimplyMeds.

4kg + down since mid August and on 2.4 dose, I had a "week off" for holiday abroad where I put on just over a kg (all inclusive) but lost it again within a week on starting again.

No nausea really, struggling a bit with managing the constipation but now know to watch out for it.

Ideally another kg down in next 10 days and that takes under a big mental number . I am going to get up to 3 ml dose and see how it goes but I felt a difference even at the lower doses
