He has a special place in my heart for the Wombles and Right Said Fred.

Although it's sad that he has died, I actually assumed he was dead already (and not a Dr Who watcher) , so it was quite bittersweet to hear this news today, happy that he had such a long life and long marriage too.

I often use one of his lines in Fawlty Towers - 'this televisual feast'. He played a guest who was an even bigger twat than Basil, and it was a sublime pairing.

Same here! We say it - but i never remembered where we were getting it from until you said this.

RIP Bernard 😔

It is sad news. This made me laugh, though. Barry Cryer and Bernard Cribbins on The Good Old Days.

I remember watching railway children as a child when it was first released in 1970. I was 6 years old. I thought he was an old man then🤷🏼‍♀️😳. I’ve just done the maths to figure out he must only have been ~44-45… but I think it was because his hair was already grey
All my life he has been “old” and played grandpa type roles. Bit bonkers really but maybe why he had such a good innings in a job he clearly loved and many people have fond memories of.

Aw he was just fantastic, I loved watching old jack's boat with my kids and the Christmas one made me properly cry my eyes out. What a talented man he was.

@viques ’nevermore!’

Only watched the Railway Children yesterday.
A good life well lived though.

Was so sad to hear this, was a massive part of my childhood. We've been watching the Fawlty Towers episode with him in it tonight, so funny
"P. Off!" 😁
Also loved him as Donna's Grandad in Dr Who.
