I told my husband and 2 kids last Friday that I'm not cooking at all today and tomorrow.i asked them to come the shop and pick food or tell me what they want for evening meal for these 2 days.
Kids have had deli meats some micro chips and fruit and vegetables raw picked from garden.
I'm not hungry so not had anything might eat later
5:45pm hubby said he'll get a takeaway, he hasn't, he's hungry so I've said eat what's in the fridge or cook your own.
So he's hungry grumpy and keeps saying what's to eat.
Just wanted a moan I'm not cooking, today or tomorrow.

What a twat. Is he always so helpless?

marrymeadam · 18/07/2022 20:17

I have said I'm not cooking either. It's wraps or quick meals people can make themselves. I am eating my 5th ice lolly

AnneLovesGilbert · 18/07/2022 20:17

Ignore his grumping. Idiot. We had popcorn and a bit of salad. I’m not bloody cooking. DH not bloody cooking.

We have enough salad in the fridge to make wraps for the foreseeable future. I refuse to add to the ambient temperature of my kitchen by cooking. I may need to top up the grape supply though, as they’re proving popular.

HeddaGarbled · 18/07/2022 20:20

Very sensible forward planning on your part IMO.

Smileatthesmallthings · 18/07/2022 20:20

We filled the fridge with cold picnic type food over the weekend. Precooked pasta and cous cous for salads and have done fresh bread and wraps in. Everyone here is just having picky bits for every meal and we love it. Tell him to suck it up and get his own bloody food

SparklingPeach · 18/07/2022 20:21

Ignore the grumpy old man OP.

Titsywoo · 18/07/2022 20:21

Are you his personal chef? Tell him to grow up.

bloodyunicorns · 18/07/2022 20:26

We're not cooking either. We grazed.

Is your h always so useless, or is the sun making him grumpy and forget how to adult?!

fatlazycow · 18/07/2022 20:27

wth he sounds like the husband in Shirley Valentine. he needs to grow up.

ImFuminHun · 18/07/2022 20:27

How pathetic.

UnityO · 18/07/2022 20:32

Has he suddenly lost the use of his arms?

He can get his own dinner.

Forgottenmypasswordagain · 18/07/2022 20:32

Well he can get something from the kitchen like the rest of you. You are not alone, I think a lot of people are having cold plate suppers, picking up pizzas ect or zapping a frozen meal.

GorgeousLadyofWrestling · 18/07/2022 20:37

We have leftovers of jerk chicken and rice and peas that we cooked for a big family get together yesterday. It was worth cooking in the heat yesterday to have the leftovers today.

how does everyone make their wraps? I always think I have filled them enough and then when I wrap them, they have big gaps in them.

picklemewalnuts · 18/07/2022 20:40

Done similar. But I also made a chilli we're reheating in the micro, to break up the tedium of cold food.
I've been ringing the changes with the salads, so it's not too boring, but a hot meal does make a change.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 18/07/2022 20:45

I'm not doing stuff that requires me standing over the stove, but I'm still cooking. Tonight I shoved some salmon fillets in the oven and microwaved some veg (would have done salad but the DC won't eat it). Tomorrow will be similar with chicken breasts.

FurAndFeathers · 18/07/2022 20:48

Does he have additional needs?
or is he labouring under the misapprehension that you need a vagina to operate the oven?

I’d be having words. Sulking is deeply unattractive

Badger1970 · 18/07/2022 20:53

I had mild heat stroke last week and felt dreadful for days. I kept being sick and was so weak I could hardly get out of bed.

DH had to put the food shop away - meltdown no 1.
He then had to sort his own tea - meltdown no 2, 3 and 4.

He kept asking what he could eat - me having a massive meltdown and screaming that I was never cooking for him again as he was so fucking rude. And I haven't.

I'd go on strike OP until he shows some manners.

safetylastday · 18/07/2022 20:59

Wow what a keeper.
Don’t moan to us tell him to stop asking you what’s for dinner because you aren’t cooking
or go out so he can’t keep bothering you

Minimalme · 18/07/2022 21:01

Just tell him to practise cooking his own food in preparation for when you leave him for being such a big, useless twat.

velvetvixen · 18/07/2022 21:03

Why does this type of man want mummying all the fucking time? It's vag- clenchingly unattractive.

CallOnMe · 18/07/2022 21:04

What a spoilt brat!

He needs to make something himself or get a takeaway as planned.

This.

I am also not cooking.

I stocked up yesterday with a vast array of "picnic" type food, charcuterie, salads, fruit (plus ice cream and lolly's) etc and told everyone to help themselves for today and tomorrow.

There's zero chance of getting me near an oven/hob in this heat.

Everyone is still alive and not starving....in fact DS is enjoying being able to eat on his own schedule....

Eeksteek · 18/07/2022 21:22

I roasted a chicken, bought eat-as-it-is-fruit, veg and salad, ham and cheese. I pushed the boat out and made mini quiches and fresh bread yesterday. It’s all in the fridge and freezer, and can be picked out of the packet or zapped as required. My in-put, in any form, is not required or available. My 12 year old is doing fine with this (partly because she was bribed with extra crisps and ice creams and told to picnic for two days, I will admit). I bought a ton of ice creams and lollies and found a bottle Pimms in the back of a cupboard. If I am feeling adventurous later, I may make lemonade. Or I may not. The only person I am cooking for is the dog, because she has been seriously poorly and can’t help herself.

Normal service will be resumed when normal summer is resumed. That is all.

rnsaslkih · 18/07/2022 21:22

He sounds like a baby but if cooking is a chore that is always assigned to you and he does his fair share that includes other chores, then I suppose he has some cause to feel a bit put out. Can’t he put a piece of ham between 2 pieces of bread?
