I'm guessing this is for a parent?
The gifts I got for my 60th were perfect for me and showed me that my family know me very well.

  • a lego set , a pokemon toy, a fitbit and a weekend away.
So it doesn't all need to be serious stuff!
shiningstar2 · 18/07/2022 19:37

Time. I like time with my daughter. So maybe theatre tickets or a night away somewhere. Special lunch. Needn't be expensive.

matdearsley · 18/07/2022 19:38

god, i wish you was my mum!!!!!

Still, good suggestions. Nothing mad, like sky diving or a transatlantic cruise etc

I got my dad a lordship title. He got a 2ft square of prime land and a title.

OhThatChicken · 18/07/2022 19:40

We got my mum an Xbox.

Maireas · 18/07/2022 19:40

I got a box set of Seinfeld, which is brilliant. Several boardgames, and one of those star maps because I like astronomy.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 18/07/2022 19:51

I bought my Mummy a fruiting cherry tree for her 60th

Yodaisawally · 18/07/2022 20:02

I took my mum to the Langham for afternoon tea and several cocktails afterwards

Summerslam · 18/07/2022 20:04

Lunch somewhere lovely and a collage of family photos over the years.

SparkyBlue · 18/07/2022 20:07

We brought her to a cliff Richard concert with overnight accommodation. Which she loved. Obviously not everyone's cup of tea lol but could you do something similar for a show

matdearsley · 18/07/2022 20:11

Thanks a lot guys. Some of this stuff i would do in a heartbeat but on a budget of about 2-£ 300. Going down the movie/ TV route, she does like TV.

Ideally I would take her to Scotland farmers show thing but my nan is 86 and has poor hips - can't really ignore her.

We are going out for a meal on the day though.

I turn 60 this year and out of the suggestions so far the only thing I would like is tickets to see a show. I also like lovely books on art, plants, jewellery (simple silver things) and art work for my walls.

mdh2020 · 18/07/2022 20:36

I was given an easel and a box of paints. Set me off on a new hobby. The HC bought me a Pandora bracelet and each chose a bead

Blossomtoes · 18/07/2022 20:40

My boy bought me a beautiful watch. I love it.

matdearsley · 18/07/2022 20:43

I capitulated and just asked!

She wants a teapot! lol

To be fair my DDs asked and I said a jewellery box. They don't think it is enough but it's what I would like!

h0rsewithn0name · 18/07/2022 20:46

I received a KitchenAid which I treasure and an electronic photo frame loaded with photos of the grandchildren.

Other than that, I love lunches, afternoon teas and dinners. Can you sense I like food?

cooldarkroom · 18/07/2022 20:48

Some special time with YOU....
No material junk could be better

shiningstar2 · 18/07/2022 20:50

My Dd and her dad like drawing and painting. She took him on am artist's day course. Just the two of them. He loved it. Dad and daughter don't get to spend much time together without grandkids, me, her husband ext. They spent the day together doing something they both love and don't usually have time for. They came away with a painting each which is a permanent reminder of the day.

SilverGlassHare · 18/07/2022 20:54

Does she say ‘Oh I have everything I need’? If so, definitely an experience of some type, whether it’s tickets to a show, a lovely meal out or a day trip somewhere she’d love to visit. Otherwise, does she collect anything? Is she a reader? I collect art so even when I’m 60 I imagine I’ll still want more of the things I like, though my taste may have changed by then. Most collectors are always happy with an addition to their horde!

Newestname002 · 18/07/2022 20:55

I love very simple, elegant, sleek silver or gold jewellery (bracelets, earrings, necklaces) without any charms or anything hanging off them. 🌹

CaptainMyCaptain · 18/07/2022 20:56

I got a Kitchen Aid from my daughter for my 60th. I'd always wanted one and use it nearly every day.

Ragwort · 18/07/2022 20:59

Agree with others - a meal out or trip somewhere - I am over 60 and in the fortunate position to want nothing, and to be perfectly honest if I did want a pice of jewellery or artwork I would prefer to choose it myself. But a lovely afternoon tea - and my car professionally valeted would be the perfect gift. Smile

matdearsley · 18/07/2022 21:05

The ultimate running theme seems to be 'time with'

We are going out on the day tbf. I was thinking more of gifts.

Still, thankyou very much for your insights.

Large indoor fern or palm and a nice pot for it to go in.
