Large indoor fern or palm and a nice pot for it to go in.

we don't live in a mansion lol

I loathe receiving plants ... the obligation to keep them alive and the guilt when they inevitably die ....

Ragwort · 18/07/2022 21:19

Does this person really want a gift? I genuinely have no more 'space' in my life for gifts, I have everything I need.

If she wants a tea pot how about a really lovely hamper to go with it. Lots of companies do hampers if you have a Google. This is a nice one

Should add, yes it’s expensive for what’s in it but we’ve bought them for relatives and they always love the actual basket, which can be used afterwards for all sorts.

Babdoc · 18/07/2022 21:27

My DDs bought me an iphone for my 60th, and treated me to an escape room adventure and dinner at an extremely expensive swanky restaurant!
They had to rearrange it at v short notice, as they had originally booked me a city break weekend abroad - but then there was a huge terrorist alert there, with troop carriers parked outside what would have been our hotel, and the metro and all tourist attractions shut down, so they rapidly cancelled and switched it to Edinburgh!

Have a portrait photo of you and your siblings done. It could be casual, in a park etc and not necessarily formal

matdearsley · 18/07/2022 21:34

fck'in hell some of you guys are well off aren't you!!!

£100 hamper for one day isn't happening! Some biscuits, and a basket!

So what is your budget?

I thought you said you had 200-300 pounds to spend!

nervousnelly8 · 18/07/2022 21:55

My siblings and I are getting my mum a senior life membership for RHS for her 60th. It's expensive but something that she'll use forever and allows free guests for days out. You'd have to find other family members to chip in though!

MarmiteCoriander · 18/07/2022 22:28

Some of this stuff i would do in a heartbeat but on a budget of about 2-£ 300.

So you think a £100 hamper it too much? So this isn't the actual budget then OP??? We are all very confused by what you actually want to spend??? Can you please clarity the budget?

matdearsley · 19/07/2022 12:38

A lot of the budget was taken up. I just would rather spread it as we have done, than get a basket for 100 quid.

Thanks again. Given me ideas and we've now sorted it. (with one day to go)

We are very organised ;)

How about a luxury item like a silk pillowcase? No one asked me what I wanted, but that was in my list…

GrinAndVomit · 19/07/2022 12:42

A lemon tree!

I have just discovered the incredible looking British Pullman for (admittedly pretty high end) perfect experience gifts.. I’ve clocked it away for big family birthdays!

I'm 61, I need a hamper full of sugary food like a hole in the head tbh. Of course if I was given one I'd say it was lovely.Grin

I wouldn't want my dd to spend a lot of money on me tbh - it's the time thing, really. I'd absolutely love a weekend with her messing about in boats, DH is for health reasons an bit constrained in what he can do now unfortunately.

matdearsley · 19/07/2022 15:54

I had to add one more response!

I kept seeing 'DD' and just rolled with it.

After looking it up! I am a son! Not a daughter!

Oh well! I assume men are allowed on this site! I've just heard about in the media. If anyone knows mums then it's probably this site!

OP posts:
LizzieSiddal · 19/07/2022 16:23

Yes of course men are allowed here and very welcome!

LizzieSiddal · 19/07/2022 16:23

Glad you got the gift sorted. Hope your mum has a lovely day.
