Would you run in this heat ? 🏃‍♀️

Last Summer I was visiting family abroad for 5 weeks and most days were between 30-40 degree and I went out running nearly every day ( between 5-12kms)! Lots of others out running too so I didn't look crazy 😜 !

I feel like I will get strange looks running tonight after dinner here in south west London .

Any other runners like me ?

Well yes, but only at about 7am. It was actually quite cool this morning and I contemplated it, but then decided I couldn't be arsed Grin

iRun2eatCake · 18/07/2022 16:23

I went at 6.30am today.

I don't like the heat at all. My sister however is the complete opposite and will go out later

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 18/07/2022 16:24

Was it humid where you were? That might be the difference. I don't think it's going to cool down massively this evening.

I will be running later.. on a treadmill, in the air conditioned gym, followed by a dip in the pool!

Iamanunsafebuilding · 18/07/2022 16:58

I'm not running today or tomorrow, I don't enjoy running in hot weather normally let alone today!

MrsDThomas · 18/07/2022 16:59

i did 10 miles yesterday morning.

going for 3 miles at 6pm,

if the weather stopped me i would never go out.

Senmum2013 · 18/07/2022 17:03

I went at 9am after school drop off. Only did 5k though. Had plenty of water with me as even that early it was roasting. I just changed my route slightly - did a more shady route along the Thames. There were quite a few runners about so it wasn't just me!

PinkButtercups · 18/07/2022 17:03

I don't even run for a bus, so no.

Fair play for you doing it though!

Tiddlywinkly · 18/07/2022 17:08

I ran yesterday at 7am which was fine. My running club evening run is cancelled.
I would run early in the morning only or hold out until Wednesday

Iamclearlyamug · 18/07/2022 17:09

I went at about 8.20 and it was very warm but manageable - I cannot run in proper heat so always mornings for me, that and the fact that anytime after midday I'm lazy af 😂😂

GCHeretic · 18/07/2022 17:09

Yes, I did 5k this morning. It was about 19 degrees at eight o’clock.

Fatballs · 18/07/2022 17:11

I do the same, but early in the morning or in the early evening.

TheCanyon · 18/07/2022 17:13

Naw, I went a 7 min walk to spar for beer and that was bad enough 😂

My sil lives in dubai, out running and cycling constantly. Even when it's pushing 40° first thing in the morning. I think she's nuts. Heat exhaustion is very real though so make sure you have all the correct gear with you and a phone to alert for help if needed.

imnotthatkindofmum · 18/07/2022 17:17

If I was used to it I would hit I'd happily sip a few days to get over the worst of the weather.

BuggersMuddle · 18/07/2022 17:23

I did the morning, but am not in the south east (it was about 23 degrees).

If I was in the south east or any of the areas with a red warning I wouldn't unless I could get out early / late. I also wouldn't push it and might well skip it if I was less fit or had any other relevant health concerns.

MintJulia · 18/07/2022 17:26

I went at 6am. It was about 17 degrees. It was lovely.

Anything above 20 is too warm for me .

GreatNorthRunner2022 · 18/07/2022 17:26

I have been but only before work so around 4am and making sure I'm properly hydrated and eating well

ChateauBelle · 18/07/2022 17:30

I went out this morning at 8.15, it was fine. Might go for a late walk round the park this evening.

ValBiro · 18/07/2022 17:33

I went out for a 5k at around 9.30am and it was fine - I tend not to feel the heat too much until I stop (because I'm soooo fast haha!) I'm mocking myself but I did actually get close to a pb this morning oddly enough, I think because I wanted it to be over before it had even started!

Evening might be harder as it will have been hot for hours (was quite cool overnight) but take water and stick to the shade and I'm sure you'll be fine!

CottonSock · 18/07/2022 17:33

Only at 7am. No chance now

KohlaParasaurus · 18/07/2022 17:35

No, I wouldn't enjoy running in the heat. I might pop out for a spin on my bike when the temperature drops.

Icouldabeenalawyer · 18/07/2022 18:06

I ran at 7.30am today, will go again tomorrow about 6.30. Would've gone that time today but I was celebrating my birthday yesterday and couldn't wake myself!

Iamanunsafebuilding · 18/07/2022 18:11

If the heat was going to last for a week or more I would run, as it's 2 days I'll wait til Wednesday!

ResentfulLemon · 18/07/2022 20:07

I'm training for a marathon. If I don't run this week it fucks up my training plan and we're getting too close to do that and I'm not fit enough to skip training weeks

However I'm up and out by 6am at the latest and making sure I'm properly equipped for the weather.

I miss running in the pouring down rain!

user143677433 · 18/07/2022 20:12

7am/pm yes. Midday no.
