Before anyone turns this into a “I can’t believe you’re so dependent on your husband” thread, I’m not. It’s lighthearted and I’d love to know people’s idea of downtime. I’m usually off doing things (with or without husband) at weekends but tomorrow is an exception.
I’m home alone tomorrow without a car. My husband has to be several hours away from 8am to approximately 10pm. He needs to drive and my car is currently in the garage so I’m vehicleless.
We live very rurally and nowhere at all within walking distance- nearest village shop is 12 miles away. Getting a taxi here is an ordeal, I was shopping today so don’t want to go again tomorrow, and I’m not close to a beach/park.
No kids. Secluded rural house with big garden and a lovely covered patio. Neighbours are scarce and, while I get on with them, we’re not friendly enough to spend days together. No family within 200 miles. It’ll be hot here tomorrow and I’m not a big fan of the heat, but a snooze on the patio will definitely be on the agenda.
Have a dog but he’s a big and fluffy breed and very much feels the heat so will spend the day lolling in his paddling pool, and snoozing on the kitchen tiles in front of his fan. I’ll take him for a walk at 7am before it gets hot, and again in the evening when the ground-temperature eases a bit.
Have plenty of food in, plus booze and ample ice-cream. Have Netflix, Disney+ etc. I can cook, but not too keen in this heat. Will do some light gardening. And my chin will need plucking.
Cleaner was here yesterday so don’t need to do any cleaning.
The world is my fairly-confined oyster.
So far, I’m thinking:
7am: Walk the dog.
8am: Wave husband goodbye and head back to bed with an iced coffee.
10am: Nice breakfast.
If you were me for a day, how would you spend your time? Feel free to give me an hourly breakdown, if you’d like, and to recommend series I should watch, or a book I can get stuck into.
