If you were me, what would you do tomorrow?

Before anyone turns this into a “I can’t believe you’re so dependent on your husband” thread, I’m not. It’s lighthearted and I’d love to know people’s idea of downtime. I’m usually off doing things (with or without husband) at weekends but tomorrow is an exception.

I’m home alone tomorrow without a car. My husband has to be several hours away from 8am to approximately 10pm. He needs to drive and my car is currently in the garage so I’m vehicleless.

We live very rurally and nowhere at all within walking distance- nearest village shop is 12 miles away. Getting a taxi here is an ordeal, I was shopping today so don’t want to go again tomorrow, and I’m not close to a beach/park.

No kids. Secluded rural house with big garden and a lovely covered patio. Neighbours are scarce and, while I get on with them, we’re not friendly enough to spend days together. No family within 200 miles. It’ll be hot here tomorrow and I’m not a big fan of the heat, but a snooze on the patio will definitely be on the agenda.

Have a dog but he’s a big and fluffy breed and very much feels the heat so will spend the day lolling in his paddling pool, and snoozing on the kitchen tiles in front of his fan. I’ll take him for a walk at 7am before it gets hot, and again in the evening when the ground-temperature eases a bit.

Have plenty of food in, plus booze and ample ice-cream. Have Netflix, Disney+ etc. I can cook, but not too keen in this heat. Will do some light gardening. And my chin will need plucking.

Cleaner was here yesterday so don’t need to do any cleaning.

The world is my fairly-confined oyster.

So far, I’m thinking:

7am: Walk the dog.
8am: Wave husband goodbye and head back to bed with an iced coffee.
10am: Nice breakfast.

If you were me for a day, how would you spend your time? Feel free to give me an hourly breakdown, if you’d like, and to recommend series I should watch, or a book I can get stuck into.

I so wish I was you right now

QuebecBagnet · 16/07/2022 22:56

Well I’m having a similar day tomorrow. Planning on breakfast at 7am, out on the bike by 8am, home by 9:30 before it gets too hot.

the next ten hours will be spent snoozing and reading in the garden with ice cream breaks, etc.

Twinstudy · 16/07/2022 22:57

This sounds like my actual dream day. No plan required after yours beyond take a comfortable seat in the garden with a book and get a nice simple lunch and some wine from the kitchen.

Possible afternoon nap. The lunchtime wine will probably determine that.

I do know some people hate doing nothing but I'd bloody love it😂

I know. I’m really, really looking forward to it! I’m one of those people who is very happy to be alone snd I’ve been really busy lately so this is my idea of bliss.

I just want to make the most of it and not waste the day arsing around online too much.

I’ve had this day a few times this week. I have

read the papers every day
browsed Rightmove
caught up with friends, some on the phone, some on Whatsapp or message
sorted a lovely birthday present and card for a friend
watched Oceans 8, Oceans 11 and some trashy reality telly
eaten whatever I felt like when I felt like it
napped

I’d be looking for houses to move to closer to civilisation where I wasn’t so reliant on a car!!

Crumpleton · 17/07/2022 00:22

Wave hubby off.
Bacon & Avocado baguette, orange juice.
A bit of a pamper...
Bit of face yoga, face cleanse, mask., foot massage, foot mask, foot cream.
Then a day of doing as much or, which is more likely as little as I want.
Light lunch, reading....
Early ish evening shower, PJ's....

Oh absolutely not. Made a very active choice to move here and wouldn’t leave for any money.

Great. Walked the dog first thing, then back to bed. Now scrolling through the store on Kindle to find something riveting.

Have fallen for far too many of these 99p “the best-selling psychological thriller with a twist ending that will turn your world upside down” duds in the past, so keep getting those as recommendations.

I think this is the stealthiest boasting I've ever read! Enjoy your day OP.

Notjustabrunette · 17/07/2022 09:44

Is this one of those ‘brag’ posts 😂. Sounds like an amazing day, enjoy. I’m really behind on reading my book club book, so if I was to have the whole day to myself I would read a book.

Lalosalamanca · 17/07/2022 09:45

Oh lord you are living my dream. I'm too jealous to give you any recommendations.

Velvettia · 17/07/2022 09:48

Whatever you are doing today OP, I hope it doesn’t involve being hectored by idiots on the internet as I seem to be Wink
