Why are you awake?

I woke up in pain
I have numerous chronic pain conditions and my pain killers aren't really helping at the minute, plus I have a herniated disc.
So I've been wandering the house with my night time catheter (feel free to AS me to get the story on the catheter, I've made recent posts about it) as it's my night time bag it doesn't strap to my leg so I've been carrying a bag I'd piss around as I find something to distract myself from the pain I'm in.
I'm now watching old episodes of come dine with me on Netflix, after buying the DCs new uniform (except the branded stuff) and more cat litter. And a few bits to make a hamper up for my mum (again, feel free to AS and see what my mum means to me and has done for me recently)
So what's keeping you awake? Come tell me your reasons so that I don't feel quite so alone at 4am.

Hi 👋

Tooth ache and a toddler for me!

My 2 year old had a nightmare, about pancakes apparently 🤷‍♀️ and has been up since 2am! And now my tooth ache is back, just waiting for the paracetamol to kick in and the DC to fall asleep 😴

Narcheska · 15/07/2022 04:12

My 4 yr old threw up all over the bed and himself. He has autism and thinks his bed is wrong now and won’t sleep in my bed because it’s not his bed. So we’re downstairs watching yt videos of people playing with toys.

id only just gone to sleep when it kicked off because I was actually worried his 2.5 yr old sister would be sick as she was coughing really badly.

HerRoyalHappiness · 15/07/2022 04:12

Oh no! Toothache is worse than labour. Have you tried orajel? I swear by the stuff for toothache.
Sorry about your toddler. I would say it gets better but my 8 year old DD still climbs.into bed with me if she has a nightmare so I think you've a few more years of sleep thieving yet.

Morning OP - you’re not alone. Sorry you’re not feeling well. I hope you are feeling a bit better while I’m writing this.

l have a meeting today with a client that basically defines my career. If I get this new company on board - it will be great for my business. And I really want it very badly.

I have not slept all night and keep studying my notes. I have been living and breathing this client for months - I will be so relieved when today is over and think I will go to bed very early and watch silly housewives episodes.

TickTickTock · 15/07/2022 04:13

Wow, I'm impressed with your early uniform purchasing! Very organised :)

DDs fan ran out of charge and she woke up,, and now I can't get back to sleep. Grrrrr.

So sorry for your painful conditions

HerRoyalHappiness · 15/07/2022 04:14

Oh no! Poor little boy being sick! That can't be nice for him
I'm autistic and the sensory input of vomiting sends me into meltdown and i completely understand why he doesn't want to sleep in your bed and why his feels wrong now. Bless him. Hopefully he'll drift off on the sofa for a bit and you can doze too

Fingers Crossed for you @GreekGod

@TickTickTock oh no! I hope you manage to drop off soon
Its too got to try and function without.much sleep.

My 4 year old woke about half an hour ago whimpering and snotty with a blazing temperature so is now in my bed calpoled and asleep whilst I can't settle. Ds did roll over whilst I was typing this and shout out "mummy!!!" Then when I asked if he was OK, murmured "I just love you", which is very cute.

Sorry/solidarity to others who are feeling poorly or having disturbed sleep.

@meow1989 they are so adorable when they tell us they love us.
Hopefully you can settle soon, last thing younneed is a sleepless night with a poorly little one.

meow1989 · 15/07/2022 04:21

Thanks @herroyalhappiness hopefully I'll drift! Hope sleep comes for you too

HerRoyalHappiness · 15/07/2022 04:23

Thank you. I suffer terribly with insomnia so chances of me sleeping now are slim, but I'll grab a nap once the DC are in school and my mums here to take care of me

HouseofHolbein · 15/07/2022 04:26

Morning! I start work at 5am today 😊 haven't slept brilliantly because my teen in the room next door has been wandering her bedroom all night. In shoes on a laminate floor. I will be having words later 🤣🤣

Hope everyone else gets a nap in today... I need one as I'm out tonight

3amAndImStillAwake · 15/07/2022 04:27

My 9 week old woke for her 2am feed, and because I suffer from insomnia I can never get back to sleep after that. I feel broken from 9 weeks of being up from about 2am onwards every day.

HerRoyalHappiness · 15/07/2022 04:29

@3amAndImStillAwake oh bless you. Insomnia sucks. But you have a beautiful new baby. I remember that feeling of being broken. It was hellish. But sleep.is something that does get better. They eventually learn to self soothe and then you'll be able to sleep yourself.

IncompleteSenten · 15/07/2022 04:36

Because my stupid bladder couldn't hold it until a more reasonable time.

Joys of getting older!

I couldn't get to sleep until gone 1 either, now I'm up at half 4. 🤬

Wbeezer · 15/07/2022 04:39

Insomnia, menopause related. I wake up around 4am, often feeling anxious (let's face it there's a lot to be worried about!). Dodgy hip and hot sweats don't help but DH is away for a week so at least there's no snoring and if i get back to sleep he won't wake me up with his early rising!
I'm going to do some puzzles to distract my brain.
I miss the days mine would come into bed with me, mine are all technically adults now but i still worry about them and things aren't fixed with a cuddle any more!

HerRoyalHappiness · 15/07/2022 04:39

@IncompleteSenten oh no! You need a catheter, can pee in your sleep then 😉
Just joking, it's bloody hard.work as the day time bags only hold 500ml so I'm constantly up and down to the loo.
Sorry you've had hardly any sleep. That's truly shit.

Another toddler here, I slept 11-1, 2yr old ds has been awake since then. I have a full day at work and him nursery and need to be up in 2 hours, going to be an interesting day

itsthesoundofthepolice · 15/07/2022 04:41

Sounds like you're having a rough night.

I'm up for work, albeit my alarm won't go off until 0515. I woke at just before 4 thanks to a headache/back pain that's been getting worse for the last 2 days. Roll on bedtime already

HerRoyalHappiness · 15/07/2022 04:42

@Wbeezer distraction sounds a good plan.
I used to cosleep with DS1. He's 13 now and wouldn't be seen dead hugging his mum never mind climbing into my bed for a cuddle. But ill always treasure those memories. His sweet little sleeping face, looking like an angel. Now he spends most of his time grouching and grunting liek a cave man. 😆

OP posts:
HerRoyalHappiness · 15/07/2022 04:45

@QforCucumber oh no! When I remember having to go to work on very little sleep. It was a nightmare. I hope you drift back off, even if only for an hour.
@itsthesoundofthepolice have you seen a doctor about the pain? It may be worth making an appointment, you don't want to end up.completely burnt out before you do. Better to get a handle on things now before they deteriorate.

MissSmiley · 15/07/2022 04:45

I haven't even been to sleep yet

What does AS mean?

HerRoyalHappiness · 15/07/2022 04:46

@MissSmiley I'm sorry to read that you've not slept. AS means advanced search. When you go to.the search function you can search people's username and it will ping up threads they've posted on and made.

OP posts:
MissSmiley · 15/07/2022 04:48

Can you do that on the app?

I took a sleeping pill last night but couldn't wake up this morning so this is the alternative, I'm recovering from a massive surgery so often wake up in pain too

Why do you need the catheter?
