Why are you awake?

I woke up in pain
I have numerous chronic pain conditions and my pain killers aren't really helping at the minute, plus I have a herniated disc.
So I've been wandering the house with my night time catheter (feel free to AS me to get the story on the catheter, I've made recent posts about it) as it's my night time bag it doesn't strap to my leg so I've been carrying a bag I'd piss around as I find something to distract myself from the pain I'm in.
I'm now watching old episodes of come dine with me on Netflix, after buying the DCs new uniform (except the branded stuff) and more cat litter. And a few bits to make a hamper up for my mum (again, feel free to AS and see what my mum means to me and has done for me recently)
So what's keeping you awake? Come tell me your reasons so that I don't feel quite so alone at 4am.

I messed up in work. Made s huge mistake. I just didn't think. Missed some really obvious signs and any day now am about to be found out. That's why I'm awake.

HerRoyalHappiness · 15/07/2022 04:50

I've no idea if you can do it on the app or not.

Very long story short, I have a herniated disc which is pressing in some nerves and I've gone numb down below, meaning I can't feel when I need to wee so I have to have the catheter. I'm waiting for the trial without catheter clinic appointment to see if I can have it removed and use tena instead or if I need to keep it in. I'm guessing as I'm still numb I'll probably need to keep it in.

You can search on the app not sure it's the same as the desktop site

I'm sorry you're having a shit time

Pollywoddles · 15/07/2022 04:59

I’m sorry you’re in pain OP 😕

4 month old woke up at 2:30am for a feed and have been unable to get her back down. Her bloody legs keep waking her so all she wants to do is lie on me and suck. I’ll get my DH to take over at 6 if I’m still awake and I’ll get a couple of hours before he has to leave.

It’s not every night at this stage and she’s so cute so I do enjoy our time together at night even if all I want to do is sleep!

itsthesoundofthepolice · 15/07/2022 05:03

@HerRoyalHappiness unfortunately getting through to my dr surgery is extremely difficult. I'm a rubbish sleeper anyway but this is very early even for me.

A stupid BOY. Well, not a boy. A fully grown man. Had a wonderful first date today with someone I’ve been chatting to for a while and honestly, it was fairly obvious that we’re perfect for each other in just about every way, but also obvious that he only wants something casual — which, in all fairness, is what I thought I wanted too. And so now I have to decide whether to stop seeing him entirely to protect myself or keep seeing him casually knowing I’m running the risk of falling for him and getting hurt.

Justme10 · 15/07/2022 05:34

I had surgery yesterday. Finally got to sleep at 1.30 and back awake at 4.30 in pain and it was too to take more painkillers.
So waiting for them to kick in and hopefully I can get more sleep.

HerRoyalHappiness · 15/07/2022 05:38

I'm sorry so many of you are wide awake. I can hear the birds outside which means it's time to get up because if I don't get up by 6, the cats kick off.

Was kind of waiting up for teen to get home. In now, but am still awake. Dog is panting and pacing as there is a cat in the garden that he would like to catch.

itsgettingweird · 15/07/2022 05:41

I'm actually awake late!

Usually up at 4am to take ds swim training but I was up half the night with a bad tummy and feeling sick.

I didn't feel safe to drive him on little sleep as I also had a hysterectomy 2 weeks ago!

So I switched our alarms off and he's blissfully sleeping! I'm now awake properly!

itsgettingweird · 15/07/2022 05:42

I'm hoping when he realises he will be grateful for the lie in and not worried about missing training as he's competing at British champs next week!

MissSmiley · 15/07/2022 05:45

@itsgettingweird are you even allowed to drive two weeks after a hysterectomy?

I've literally been awake all night now, my alarm will go off at 6.30, I haven't even nodded once

And I just text my boyfriend to tell him I want to end our relationship

lemonsaretheonlyfruit · 15/07/2022 05:46

I love that anyone starts this thread @Inbigtrouble I single you out not to dismiss the thing that you feel that you did wrong but I can honestly say that it won't be as bad as you think. We beat ourselves up the whole time, particularly in the middle of the night! I sat this to my DD the whole time.
Which brings me onto why I am awake.

My 15 year old DD is going through a shit time. She's a lovely gorgeous person and says constantly that she just wants to be 'normal' and be able to go into school but her anxiety means she can't. I have all the help/ support from Camhs but it's not enough and I just want to be able to do more for her.

lemonsaretheonlyfruit · 15/07/2022 05:49

@MissSmiley sorry to hear that. That's always a tough decision and one that doesn't come without pain and lots of consideration. Was / is it a long relationship?

Chocoqueen · 15/07/2022 05:54

My lovely baby woke me up half an hour ago. I rolled over to wake DH up (he's on leave this week so decided it was his 'turn') only to be greeted by an empty bed... I'd forgotten he's at a friends 🤦‍♀️. Tried to get her into bed with me for a cuddle but she was climbing everywhere so she's now crawling round the floor of my bedroom while I lay in bed. I wouldn't mind so much but someone decided to do some form of diy/gardening last night and I was woken up by the sound of a chainsaw at 2:20 🤬

MichelleScarn · 15/07/2022 05:55

Snoring husband!! I've actually been awake since you started thread @HerRoyalHappiness sorry you're in so much pain.

BlueKaftan · 15/07/2022 05:56

Got pounced on by my hungry cat. Twice! I fed her and now she’s fast asleep. I’m wide awake.

Mybeautifulfriend22 · 15/07/2022 05:58

I’m on day 7 of covid. Woke up coughing and full of flem despite the fact I’ve been ok getting better for a few days and haven’t been coughing for at least two!
Really is the gift that keeps on giving isn’t it!

HerRoyalHappiness · 15/07/2022 05:58

I'm sorry to everyone awake at such a stupid time for whatever reason.
Feel free to vent and get it off your chest.
I had the most ridiculous amount of urine in my overnight bag this morning. Honestly don't know where it all comes from. We'll I do, my bladder, but you know what I mean

@lemonsaretheonlyfruit I have a DS15 with anxiety that means he finds attending school difficult, started a year before he was diagnosed with an illness now he struggles and also wants to be normal

I have had fairly bad insomnia since I came out of hospital in April but I've never not slept a wink before, maybe I shouldn't have texted him while I'm so sleep deprived

MissSmiley · 15/07/2022 06:09

@HerRoyalHappiness I made an amazing friend while I was in hospital and we used to report on each other's wee bags when we couldn't get out of bed to look at our own 🤣

HerRoyalHappiness · 15/07/2022 06:10

@MissSmiley 😂 brilliant.

I was driving a week after! You can drive as long as you are ok to do so and not on a cocktail of painkillers!

Mine was laparoscopic. Although I was driving a week after CS with ds too!!!

I'm going back to work next week
