How & where do you store your toilet cleaning cloths/sponges etc?

I need new ideas. I don't like hanging the cloth on the back of the outflow pipe, it looks untidy. So I've been using a dedicated box but the cloth goes mouldy in a closed box. What do you do?

In the cupboard under the basin.

BlanketsBanned · 10/07/2022 13:34

I use spray bleach and loo roll, anti bac floor wipes and a slosh if harpic once a week I dont use cloths or sponges. Its all kept in a small wooden bathroom storage box from ikea.

I use cloths, have different coloured ones for different things but they go straight in the wash and then are put away clean and dry in a box under the sink. I just get them
out as needed but as I know that the blue ones are toilet for example they don’t get mixed up.
But I have a newish potty trained toddler so we still have accidents and there’s at least one wash on daily so cloths don’t sit around.

Use wipes and then just throw them away , and put bleach in your toilet

Solosunrise · 10/07/2022 13:40

I do the same. I don't leave damp cloths lingering.

Forgot the quote, but yes, loo cleaning cloths are all yellow.

minuette1 · 10/07/2022 13:42

In the washing machine as soon as they are used. Leaving damp bathroom cleaning cloths hanging around is quite gross really.

Stressofherregard · 10/07/2022 13:42

I have pretty wash cloths to make it more interesting. I hang them over the shower cubicle to dry and then keep them in a drawer under the sink.

Afrodizzyak · 10/07/2022 13:44

Do not use cloths, just loo roll and bleach. All flushed away.

Anxiernie · 10/07/2022 13:55

I don't use reusable stuff for toilets or floors (except a mop)

BlooberryBiskits · 10/07/2022 13:58

have lots of cloths so they mostly get used once, then I put them in a bucket on my laundry room and wash with mop heads etc. once a week

also have lots of the minky pads that I use for washing up & toss those in with clothes (because fairy liquid traces not going to mark clothes so less of a concern vs other products)

have used an ice cream tub/1 kg yogurt pot etc for same purpose in other houses

cloths on use I put on side of sink (kitchen) & shower rail (downstairs loo), on top of bathroom cupboard & clean cloths & product in a ceramic pot (that came with a plant) next to loos so that people can clean up after themselves if need be

I don’t really think you can get things clean unless the cloth is pretty clean! If I wasn’t washing mop heads I’d chuck them on with towels

floweringpoppies · 10/07/2022 14:00

I usually put zoflora on kitchen roll, wipe round and put straight in the bin.

ShirleyPhallus · 10/07/2022 14:00

I just get my bathroom refitted each week so I don’t have this problem. Tbh if you’re just using a cloth and bleach to clean your loo then it won’t be that clean, replacing the toilet so you know it’s brand new each time is much better

mizzo · 10/07/2022 14:01

I only them use once then wash them, when they're dry they go back in the basket of cleaning stuff in the bathroom.

Theoldwoman · 10/07/2022 14:01

I clean my toilet with toilet paper and then flush away.

Toilet cleaning cloths! Ick!!

And it’s that sort of disregard for the environment that makes me furious. Just use more and more resources why don’t you.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 10/07/2022 14:43

I spray and use loo paper for the toilet and sink sponge lives by the spray in a plastic basket.

MarmiteCoriander · 10/07/2022 14:46

TBH- it has never occurred to me to use a 'toilet cloth' and reuse it! I use kitchen paper, cleaning spray and throw in the bin.

I just remembered, as a child, my nan used grandads old Y fronts as cleaning rags!!! Maybe this put me off reusing cloths?

notangelinajolie · 10/07/2022 14:48

Cleaning cloth goes straight in the wash.
I keep all my bathroom cleaning products (including cleaning cloth/s once dried) in a basket in a cupboard in the bathroom

big LOl. Cheered me up no end. 😉

Saffagette · 10/07/2022 16:28

I use cloths and keep them in a cloth nappy wetbag until I can wash them. Not for inside the loo of course! I colour code cloths and keep toilet cloths in their own bag, use different cloths and bags for different rooms / areas

ZarquonsSandals · 10/07/2022 16:35

J cloth for cleaning sink & shelf. It dries on the towel rail and gets washed/replaced as needed. When not in use it goes in the cupboard.
Bleach sits beside the toilet.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 10/07/2022 16:42

I have a stack of old face flannels and similar cloths in a bathroom cupboard -just use one and put it straight in the wash. Bleach etc just sit on the floor beside the loo.
