Has anyone got BT internet?

coolbottlesummer · 09/07/2022 08:11

Our internet is due for renewal. I called BT earlier in the week to discuss. Unfortunately, I got a fairly arrogant woman who refused to listen to our needs. 2 years ago, due to working from home, we signed up to a massive package at over £50 a month. We don’t need that any more but she wouldn’t listen. I put the phone down in the end. I need to call back today.

We are very limited where we live as to what is available as we are rural. I can get plusnet or sky or bt. I don’t want sky as they will repackage us with TV and we want to give up tv when that’s up for renewal. Don’t know much about plusnet but they are owned by BT.

If anyone is willing to share, would you post how much roughly you pay for internet with BT? I’d prefer to stay with BT as we know it works but need to negotiate hard and be prepared for this call. Thanks.

35 a month I think for fibre bh only

Plus 2 cheapish EE sims £9?- cheaper linked to BB account - not huge data (5gbye?) but we never come close to that and the coverage is great in this rural area

coffeecupsandfairylights · 09/07/2022 08:25

We're with BT and I pay £31.87 per month for their highest speed of broadband only. We don't have a landline and no longer pay for that.

Thanks. Phones are due for renewing in September so they are next to look at.

Thanks. We don’t use the landline/phone at all.

Wow I pay £65 a month with BT - and I don’t use my landline so this is an eye-opener

EmilyBolton · 09/07/2022 08:37

I pay around £35 for basic broadband (only type available in village when I moved last year though would now have option) plus a landline. This includes free landline calls up to a quite large amount.
im probably going to drop landline when my contract runs out and up to a higher speed.

christmassausages · 09/07/2022 08:39

@Vernonia same here. Going to give them a call and see what they can offer.

You sound like you are on the same as us. Have you got a halo and their complete wifi thing? It seemed a good idea 2 years ago to do it but we live in a small 2 bedroom bungalow so on reflection I don’t think it was necessary.

£55.99 pm for bt fibre halo something.

Although I've never had as many problems with my internet freezing up as I've had since this so called upgrade.

Like you, my options are limited.

£36 for fibre wifi and 700 minutes on the landline

EspeciallyDeIighted · 09/07/2022 08:45

About £60 for the full fibre thing, with wifi extenders and landline. It's expensive but the service when something goes wrong has always been excellent. Never had any luck haggling though.

Jessieharriet181 · 09/07/2022 08:46

I pay around £32 for fibre broadband with BT. Don't use the landline and we don't have the halo thing whatever that is. Never have any problems despite several people using the internet and downloading at once.

FitAt50 · 09/07/2022 08:46

I pay £25 a month for broadband and phone line (no packaged calls). I got this 2 years ago when I threatened to leave to go to Sky. I do this every time my contract is up and they do me another good deal.

Curlywurlycazza · 09/07/2022 08:49

You don't need to get the TV package with Sky.

We pay £35pm for the super duper bestest Internet ever from Sky (no idea what it's actually called!). I WFH and we have a house of four gamers. We need top spec!

onlywhenidream · 09/07/2022 08:53

BT Currently advertising from £27

We already have Sky TV and want rid of it. If I go to them, they will repackage broadband with the TV so we will end up with another 2 years.

Landline, top speed Fibre optic broadband and 3 mobile phones + VAT= £97 a month.

The contract seems to be coming to an end soon because I am getting frequent e-mails from BT saying how beautiful, how nice, how friendly and how fast BT is !!!
I am definitely moving over to another provider with fiberoptic broadband who charges me £96 or less.
Remember one thing, "LOYALTY SUCKS IN BRITAIN".
Dont be loyal to any of these service providers.
Always shop around for everything
Only fools auto-renew.
Never accept these so called freebies like free cloud space, free e-mail address, free pen, free M&S voucher, blah de blah de blah. They are the ways of keeping you trapped with one service provider and mind you they will reclaim it one or the other form. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A FREE MEAL.
I used to auto renew all utilities. But when I looked at my car insurance, I was shocked because DH with his rash driving and at least one incident every year, was paying an annual premium of £480 while I was paying £600 with clean sheet for 10 years.

Mabelface · 09/07/2022 09:02

Call EE. They're partnered with bt, and got my bill down from £70 to £27.99 a month. I'm still with bt, just with a much better price and no Halo, which I didn't actually need.

onlywhenidream · 09/07/2022 09:04

Also have you tried online rather than phone? What does that say ?

AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair · 09/07/2022 09:06

Like a PP where I live I don't have a choice and can't get the most up to date BT service either I think it's £30 something a month, not sure exactly as I have other services as well. None of the cheap offers are available for me.

I actually don't think the price is too bad, there's a lot of use in my house and very rarely an issue

DeathMetalMum · 09/07/2022 09:07

I'd reccomend plusnet. We have been with them forever. UK call centres, and whenever we've had any issues (there hasn't been many) they've been sorted out pretty quickly.

DeathMetalMum · 09/07/2022 09:13

I pay about £23 a month. For fibre and evening and weekend calls. Always ring up when my contract has expired and negotiate a price. Last time I rang plusnet asking about the slightly higher package as while speed is good dc are getting older so number of devices are going up so was worried about all of us streaming. The advisor actually said no point as my 'line' could only cope with certain speeds so higher package (and price) pointless.

popandchoc · 09/07/2022 09:26

I pay £63 a month for fibre 100 with halo 1. That includes phoneline but i barely use it.

Dougieowner · 09/07/2022 09:29

I recently moved into a newbuild and have BT full fibre 900 c/w landline & basic TV, I am on a "special" paying £30pm (can't remember how long it lasts though). No issues whatsoever.
If I move supplier in the future I will be looking seriously at Plusnet as they always seem to come out well in reviews.

Timeandtune · 09/07/2022 09:34

We have been with BT forever. Never had any problems. Currently paying £69 per month for super duper fast speed which we now no longer need as DS2 has left home taking his gaming PC with him.
