Could be wrong but can't find an up to date lidl thread.

Recently started shopping at Lidl and so far have really liked:
Everything from the bakery especially the brownies
Deluxe yogurts (We've had the layered caramel, toffee, lemon and strawb)
Steaks
Strawberries
Donut peaches
Deluxe tomato's
Cloudy lemonade & strawberry lemonade

Haven't tried any household things or toiletries etc yet.

Anything else we should try?

cheese topped rolls from the bakery

everything else from the bakery

Fake peanut m&ms
Chocolate chip brioche loaf

DH particularly likes their French roast ground coffee.

I was just about to recommend this! Drinking a cup now. 😊
My kids love the coconut Greek yogurt. Apparently, it's the best yogurt ever! I haven't tried it but we buy it all the time.
The Kielbasa and Bratwurst are delicious. I throw them on the barbecue.
I really rate the fresh veg and fruit. My local Lidl's produce is far better and fresher than what I get at Sainsbury's or from Ocado. Lovely fresh heads of broccoli and cauliflower. We eat our produce quickly, so I can't say if it has a short shelf-life. But it's always been fresh and delicious.
The bakery! Like others have mentioned, it's the bomb. I think some of the best pastries I've had come from Lidl.
Their version of Nutri Grain cereal bars are really good. My kids love them and say they're better than the Nutri Grain ones. They are yummy and taste exactly the same to me. Same with their fig rolls.
I love their bags of cashews.
Non-bio laundry liquid (I haven't tried the powder) is excellent.
W5 floor wipes are just as good as Dettol's. Perfect for my bathroom.
W5 washing up liquid. OK, nothing beats Fairy, but Lidl's is great and does the job just fine.

Merlotmum85 · 09/07/2022 08:26

We love lidl houmous, greek yoghurt (not the greek style one), non bio washing liquid, their almond magnums are fab and the carre fin chocolate really good too!

ipswichwitch · 09/07/2022 09:20

Their mustard mayonnaise is lovely but they never seem to have it in any more. We also like the Greek yoghurt, Gouda slices, their magnum type ice creams (the mint one in particular), the Ben and jerrys copy ice cream is good too. The DC like their nutri grain bars, the packs of chocolate croissants, curly fries and pretty much all of their biscuits!

Mol1628 · 09/07/2022 10:43

Forgot to say I love their dishwasher tablets, rinse aid and salt. Work great for us!

Also their bin bags and food bags are the best and cheapest.

Lidl isn't my usual supermarket but I pop in every now and then because they sell bottles of peace iced tea that are delicious. I add a bit of water because it's a little too strong, and then it's perfect. Better then Lipton peach iced tea IMO.

RinklyRomaine · 09/07/2022 12:58

I've just come back from a top up.

Coconut Greek yoghurt is amazing
Low GI cobs I lived off when I had gestational diabetes
Fresh brownies
Gelatelli berry ice creams. Exactly like Solero, 3 for a £ and 99 calories
Greek week cheese pies
Alpine week florentines
Polish week chocolate wafer cigars
Crème fraiche potato salad
The morello cherry fizzy
1l cartons of multivitamin juice

SamWidges · 09/07/2022 14:24

I recommend and regularly buy:

Frozen scampi
Frozen paella
Formil laundry liquid
Gin, both standard and Hortus brand
Low sugar tonic water
Fin carré chocolate
Avocados...the ONLY place I can get decent avocados
White wine eg decent Chardonnay and Sauvignon blanc at 3.69 a bottle
Sliced bread
Gold label teabags
Caledonian cheddar

I avoid cos of experience:

Tomato ketchup
Tinned soup (too salty)
Bakery croissants, pains au chocolat, cheese twists (too greasy)
Most cheeses especially the French ones in French week (tasteless)

chilledbubble · 09/07/2022 14:30

The Eastern European dumplings are nice

Thearex · 09/07/2022 14:43

We really like:-
Deluxe chicken & leek pie
Whole almond milk chocolate
Fizzy worms
Milbona creamy yoghurt
Fresh tortellini
Frozen tuna steaks
Danpak spreadable slightly salted butter
Deluxe pizzas
Freshona tinned chick peas
Mirabel conserves (we love strawberry & the blueberry)
Lind house summer fruit squash
Deluxe curry sauces

Not keen on:-
The tinned soups
Baked beans
Washing up liquid
Ketchup
Wholegrain mustard is vile
Pasta sauces
Stock cubes

On the whole all the fresh produce is of good quality, and many of the basics like bread, pasta, rice, tinned tomatoes & meat are too.

Perfectlystill · 09/07/2022 15:02

Good:
Their version of Fruit & Fibre (much nicer than Kelloggs)
Dishwasher tabs
Nuts esp pecans and coated spicy ones
West Country butter with salt crystals
Deluxe Parmesan
Deluxe blue cheese - the piccante one is amazing
Deluxe farmhouse vintage cheddar
British tomatoes
Lemon yoghurts
Runny honey in a jar (Deluxe)
Fake Cornettos
Fake Lotus biscuits

I LOVE Lidl

SummerLobelia · 09/07/2022 15:14

Not a huge fan of Lidl. But we go there specifically and only for their golden brand ground coffee; their bratwurst and their Italian brand tinned spinach and black olive soup which I have a very major weakness for.

HuntingoftheSnark · 09/07/2022 15:22

Thread from last year in case it helps.

What to buy in Lidl?! www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/4165257-what-to-buy-in-lidl

Having recommended their Greek yogurt, I've come to the conclusion that it's been discontinued. I haven't been able to get it for a few weeks, but today there was a 'light' version in its place on the shelf. So annoying. It was such a good product, and I don't want a low fat version. Pah.

Lovemusic33 · 09/07/2022 18:51

I did a Lidl shop this week (first time for a while)..things that were a hit..

Cherries (the loose ones)
doughnut peaches
cheese croquette potato’s
pizza bases
Blackberries (they are huge)
lettuce
spreadable butter (similar to lurpak)
cloudy lemonade from the chiller.
salmon fillets

Not so good….
Chocolate coconut milk 🤢
cooked whole chicken (thought it was a bargain at £3.99 but tasted awful)
coleslaw (not as nice as Tesco)

takeitandleaveit · 09/07/2022 18:53

Had one of their ham & mushroom tagliatelle ready meals the other day.

Reader, it was not good.

I bought some in London last week!

MyNameIsAngelicaSchuyler · 10/07/2022 08:37

Almost everything from the bakery
Mature Gouda
Greek yoghurt
tinned cherry tomatoes
apple cider vinegar
nocerella olives
own brand crisps for kids lunch boxes
all the crackers / biscuits are good for lunchboxes too
the Apple strudel is really good for less than £1 with fresh vanilla custard
chocolate covered almonds in Spanish week
jarred anchovies ditto
padron peppers

hated
tonic water
regular tinned tomatoes (watery)
almost all the fruit and veg is poor quality. some of the peppers and the more expensive tomatoes are ok

gogohmm · 10/07/2022 08:40

It's my nearest shop so 95% of my shopping comes from there, even converted dp to their own brand deodorant. The only issue is they don't sell more specialised spices etc but I take a trip to the Asian supermarket every few months and and there's a Waitrose next door for the odd bit. Enjoy saving money

gogohmm · 10/07/2022 08:44

Should add no misses- we buy everything, I shop 2-3 times a week, sometimes more so shelf life isn't an issue
