DH is shaving his face tonight

The first time in honestly about 15 years.

Clean shaven. Razor.

He's always had a beard and at the very least 1cm stubble (and the last time he did that must have been about 8 years ago)

I don't know how I feel. I asked him to do it because I can't even remember what he looks like clean shaven. What if I don't like it 😂

This is meant to be lighthearted, I'm not forcing him to shave!

I’m 43 and have never seen my dad without a beard - not even a photograph. Apparently he tried shaving it once when my mom was pregnant and discovered about five extra chins he never knew he had 😆

Oh how funny! I love that! 🤣

Fifteen years. At least not a fashion victim or lazy man like many of those of those who have grown awful beards in the last few years.

Maggiesgirl · 06/07/2022 19:13

DH did this on Sunday morning. He's had one for ten years. I hate him without it, although he was in the Army for the previous 34 years and I had been married to him for 15 years of it)

5 year old DGD walked in at tea time, burst out laughing saud 'Nakey Granda' then ran away to the garden.

When she came in she kept looking through her fingers at him.

H now looks like a down and out because it's growing back in patches and in different colours!

DH has always had a long beard- past his neck. He shaved it in the first lockdown and I honestly went off him for about a week. He kept making me jump because I didn't recognise him and thought there was a strange man in my house! Thankfully his hair grows ridiculously fast and I was able to fancy him again fairly soon...

Why does not shaving make you lazy? Jesus Christ if some of these comments were turned around.

I'd be distraught if my fiancé shaved his beard off. Where else am I supposed to put my face?

😂 I know exactly what you mean!!

🤣🤣

Reminds me a bit of DP's brother when he grew a beard a few years ago. I hated it. It was so thick and dark against his pale face. He was actually a bit scary looking. He shaved it off a couple of years later and we were all saying (to each other, not him!) that he should grow it back because he had managed to cultivate an extra chin behind all that hedging.

DH has had a beard since he left the RAF..over 15 years ago. A couple of years ago I went on an 8 week tour away with DD2 and when I came back he'd shaved his face..and head.
He looked like a boiled egg!!!!! I was horrified Grin Needless to say the beard came back and it stays!

DS1 sports a variety of beards and weird chin things... but he always has a magnificent 'tache...

They decided to allow beards for the first time ever a couple of years ago (I think because of recruitment crisis, and beards were trendy) so DS and his squadron all grew them! Everywhere was full of beardy men at his base. Lots have gone now, but DS has kept his, and it really suits him.
It is nothing like as cool as your DS's though, @StillMedusa , that is something wonderful!

ParanoidGynodroid · 07/07/2022 07:19

Sorry, by "they" meant RAF, obv.

dudsville · 07/07/2022 07:31

I loved it when the beard trend kicked in. I've missed out though unfortunately. My OH has a beautiful face as well as the capacity to grow a thick beard quickly; he has that dark undertone of the hair beneath the skin just his after shaving. I asked him if he was interested in growing one but he doesn't like them!

user1471548941 · 07/07/2022 07:50

My DH has a beautiful beard- it’s at least 3cm, thick, well cared for and completely suits him.

I have no idea what he looks like without it and no intention of ever finding out!

Did anyone ask women what they thought about this fashion for beards. I hate them personally unless they are trimmed and tidy but the men walking around with that big filthy mess on their faces yuk

Why did you think we should get a say about what men choose to do with their appearances?

Hairless men are grim.

catwomando · 07/07/2022 08:00

You're gonna have the best time when oral sex is on the menu 😂

hellswelshy · 07/07/2022 08:04

There's a funny episode of Schitts Creek when Alexis is dating Mutt who has a very lovely beard. He shaves it off without telling her and gets into bed to wake her up and she thinks an intruder has broken in!! 😆

Kerantli · 07/07/2022 10:02

So, how does he look @MoonBab

For me it would be like my fiance shaving his long hair off, which he did actually have to go through himself when I did shave my hair off

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 07/07/2022 10:19

My DS (22) has a beard ( probably the last 4 years )
He shaved it completely over Christmas and was a bit horrified to see his little pale naked face and grew it back Grin

He has a pointey long face and wavy hair so really suits it (providing its kept tidy )
I keep telling hm that most women don't like beards but they do seem very popular , look how many footballers have face hair

floweringpoppies · 07/07/2022 10:35

Thought I had this in my watch list but didn't, went to find it only for no update! (Yes I may be over invested but I would have thought OP would have realised we would want to know how it turned out!)

MoonBab · 08/07/2022 18:37

6/10

Very nice texture in certain situations but visually not what I expected 😂

Am greatly anticipating the beard growing back

M ex went out for a haircut one Saturday morning, and on a whim got the barber to take his beard off.

I...cried when he got back into the house. Not my finest moment. In my defence he looked like a fat woman. It was AWFUL.

I love a beard too - except for the groomed ones, which I find silly looking.

Me too. It removes the rugged aspect. My husband is dashing, and his beard is part of that. I don't like his jawline without it. It's never going again.

It grows back very quickly so don't worry if you don't like it.
