DH is shaving his face tonight

The first time in honestly about 15 years.

Clean shaven. Razor.

He's always had a beard and at the very least 1cm stubble (and the last time he did that must have been about 8 years ago)

I don't know how I feel. I asked him to do it because I can't even remember what he looks like clean shaven. What if I don't like it 😂

This is meant to be lighthearted, I'm not forcing him to shave!

It’s odd that someone thinks women should be consulted on what men chose to look like. There’d be uproar if that was suggested the other way around.

Facial hair is completely different!

houseonthehill · 06/07/2022 11:32

I'm not allowed to shave mine off.

Well, I am, but "sex will be unlikely..."

Joyfulflowers · 06/07/2022 11:32

Late 20's ds's both have beards, without them they look about 21!

23yr old ds can't seem to grow a beard and looks about 18-gets ID'd all the time, he's most put outGrin

Wish I looked years younger!

Bit of a difference between hairy underarms and legs and horrible messy Taliban-style beard which gets bits of food stuck in it. Eugh.

Who mentioned armpits and legs? I certainly didn’t.

If a man wants to grow a Taliban style beard that’s entirely up to him. It doesn’t matter a jot what what ‘women’ think.

Facial hair is not ‘completely different’ (to what?) it’s entirely an individual choice. You may not like beards, but that doesn’t mean women should be consulted about what men choose to do.

@SheepingStandingUp can I ask why your DH wasn’t allowed to shave? Is it for religious reasons? Don’t answer if you’re not comfortable, I was just curious ☺️ I hope your DS is ok now!

OH no it just became a thing.
"I'll ahve a shave when DS gets out next week (as in no i dont need to go and buy stuff, we'll be home soon)."
Then stay got extended.

"Well i'll have a shave when we get out the week after..."
Several months later... "you can NOT shave it until we are home because we ARE going home together!!"
It just became a superstition thing that if he gave in and shaved in hospital, we'd not get home.

It was six years ago now and he's now allowed to shave with impunity and DS would probably find a full beard hysterically funny lol

The fear should be real...

Ooh my husband has stubble and I much prefer him with it than I do clean shaven. I guess it's just personal preference!

Yep, DH has about the same amount. Never fully shaves, just trims with clippers. I like it.
He grew a full beard for a year or so, I wasn't hugely keen but then he likes my hair longer than I usually cut it, so...

SweatyChamoisPad · 06/07/2022 13:48

Mine has had a beard since we first met - it's fairly closely trimmed but not "manscaped" if that makes sense. He's 53, blonde, and 6ft3 and he looks like a bloody handsome viking. I'd not kick off if he ever shaved it of (it's his face after all) but I think I'd prefer him with a beard.

ImpossibleGirl · 06/07/2022 13:55

DH shaves his beard off every couple of years.

He plans the stages out to get the most fun out of it and trying various facial hair styles along the way.

We get the whole photo montage of:

  • before - super scraggly survivor style
  • neatly trimmed beard
  • variations of styles (e.g. mutton chops / handle bar / goatie / Tom Selleck tash / Wolverine / etc)
  • Finally clean shaven.
The porn star tash was probably the most disturbing one!

😂

Cameleongirl · 06/07/2022 14:06

My DH is another one with a short beard that he trims with clippers. He thinks his face is too round and the beard gives his jawline definition.

It does, but it also makes him look old as there’s quite abit of grey in it. When you’re already 50, why would you want to look older?!

He has a young-looking face so he instantly looks years younger when he shaves it off. But the bloomin’ thing always reappears eventually. 😂

Yep DH is mid 30s but his beard is about 30% grey/white!

His hair isn't though!

My DH has had a beard the entire time I’ve known him.

He’s 53 but looks 30 without the beard. I like it when he occasionally shaves it off because it’s like being with a different man, stubble rash included 😁

If you don’t like it OP, it’ll grow out in a couple of days.

My DH has a right baby face without his beard;when he shaves it off the teenagers in our house call him man baby.

shinyhappydiamonds · 06/07/2022 16:36

Oh good I hope you still like him😂😂 I went on a date years ago with a guy I met online. He was really rugged and had a big beard and it really suited him and
I was really attracted to him. I told him that I really liked the beard(he asked). We met for a second date and he was completely clean shaven. I was so thrown😂😂 it was like a whole new person. I wasn't attracted to him at all on the second date. And that is so superficial I know, but I was completely thrown by the change!

shinyhappydiamonds · 06/07/2022 16:36

*oh God, not oh good🤦🏼‍♀️😂

NorthernTights · 06/07/2022 16:42

Ah hope you like it! I love my DH with his lovely beard, looks great, smells great, he’s very meticulous about keeping it nice. Also he does look like a fat egg with specs without one - his words not mine!

Fat egg with specs 😂

I'm sorry but thats the funniest thing I've heard in ages.

I'd be distraught if my fiancé shaved his beard off. Where else am I supposed to put my face?

lurchermummy · 06/07/2022 17:01

My Dad had a beard all my life until I was about 16. It took me a while to get used to it!

Hugasauras · 06/07/2022 17:09

Ooh I really don't like it when DH is clean shaven. The smoothness freaks me out a bit Blush I like at least stubble and preferably some proper scruff! He hasn't been clean shaven in about 8 years though! Just attacks it with a beard trimmer every so often Grin

WomanStanleyWoman2 · 06/07/2022 17:43

I’m 43 and have never seen my dad without a beard - not even a photograph. Apparently he tried shaving it once when my mom was pregnant and discovered about five extra chins he never knew he had 😆

Lottieskeeper · 06/07/2022 18:05

My DH had a lovely beard when we met 12 years ago. It was what first attracted me him.
A couple years ago he shaved it off so he could join in with Movember.
It was awful an I still feel in horror when he threatens to do it again.
It was like kissing a teenager or a woman. Really not my thing.
We didn't have sex until he was fully hairy again because I couldn't stand to look at him.
What made it worse is that he's really hairy all over so it looked ridiculous with this big shiney white chin.

PicklePastry · 06/07/2022 18:18

Nooooo I hate it when my husband shaves!!! Good luck OP!

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 06/07/2022 18:31

Charlieiscool · 06/07/2022 09:59

Did anyone ask women what they thought about this fashion for beards. I hate them personally unless they are trimmed and tidy but the men walking around with that big filthy mess on their faces yuk

How old are you? 12?
