Public embarrassment!

Most embarrassing public moment- I’ll go first …

Sat on a bus on the ‘side on’ seats at the front as the bus was absolutely rammed full. I
stood up to press the stop button on the pole that was opposite me, come back to sit on my seat and unbeknown to me the bloody thing was on springs and had closed back up, i just fully kept going down until I was sat on the floor with my legs in the air. I was on my own which made it worse and every man an his dog was watching as I did my best impression of a turtle on its back trying to stand up whilst the bus was moving around. No one spoke about it which made it hella awkward.

your turn ! …

@SpaceJamtart that it amazing. Was it an unprovoked swan attack?

TwoBigNoisyBoys · 29/06/2022 19:50

Crying with laughter here 😂😂

SpaceJamtart · 29/06/2022 19:53

@RagingWoke
It bit my skirt whilst I was facing away and hadn't seen it. But maybe I was stood too close, I then ran away and it waddled after me,

SpaceJamtart · 29/06/2022 19:55

A lady gave me the blanket off of her pushchair to sort of wear as i did a quick mortified charity shop for some shorts

Too many but one night just before Christmas last year,my dp asked if I’d put an order in for two anti theft backpacks for his dds
i did and forgot all about them
a few days later he went out to see a mate and a few hours later the doorbell rang
i answered it by draping myself up the doorframe and saying ‘fancy a shag lover?’
it wasn’t dp-it was the bloody delivery guy with the backpacks
ive never seen a man run away so fast

walking home one hot sunny day I was holding about 20 carrier bags when my knicker elastic went-I had to walk/wiggle home the best I could

one hot day the school rang
’could you come to school right now as your son has brought in an item and we need you to come and pick it up’
i headed out of the door, holding my house keys and wearing a summer dress and flip flops
got to school and the dragon head glared at me-and handed over my vibe-the little sod had taken it to school and had been waving it about in the playground!
I had to do the walk of shame all the way back home while trying to hide it-with nowhere to actually hide it-thankfully the school was only a ten minute walk back

Rookiemistake · 29/06/2022 19:57

Ilikenewbedding that has made me howl. These are so funny.

QOD · 29/06/2022 20:00

One of our old faves on mn once referred to her baby in a drs waiting room as

’a tiny wanker’

when she meant to say ‘whiney tinker’

hikarious

Had a table to myself on a designated “quiet” carriage of a train so decided to watch an episode of Breaking Bad on my laptop. Had headphones in but the sound wasn’t very good. I turned the volume right up, was still muffled.

After about 5 minutes when someone pointedly turned around to glare at me I realised my headphones weren’t plugged into my laptop. 😬

Just remembered another fantastic moment - was on the ferry back to Dublin & i had been travelling through the night and it was now about 5am .. I was in that very over tired - next day energy - gassy tummy .. sort of state. Decided to go for a lie down and a little nap in the truckers lounge (dominated by male truckers of course) and I lay on a couch. I couldn’t fully relax as I Was aware I was alone with my bag etc. so I just lay there quietly sandwiched between two truckers and began to lose the battle and drift off . Only to be dramatically awoken by my own uncontrolled VERY LOUD fart. It made me jump and also woke up a guy next to me I played it off as though I was pissed off that somebody had woken me up. I soon wandered off and bought a red bull 👍

1980s - ex met me at work with some of his mates saying 'we're going to Laserquest'. Ok, I'll phone my mate & see if she wants to go out. No. WE are going to Laserquest. I was wearing a white, shoulder padded blouse, black mini skirt & 4 inch white stilettos.

Got to LQ. Under UV lights I lit up like Blackpool illuminations. I could probably be seen from space. Everybody was shooting at me. Pissed off, I headed for the exit and got to a slope. I tottered down. My heels from underneath me as it was slippy. I hit the deck & slid down the slope. My shirt slid UP to my waist, exposing my knickers, stockings & suspenders. I managed to get to my feet, handed my kit in and stormed out of the door.

To loads of cheering & cat calling. They'd been showing the games on CCTV to the people queuing outside who had seen everything. I flagged a taxi, went home and have never been to LQ ever again.

pogostickplastique · 29/06/2022 20:26

@dadadeedadada the difference between falling over and having a fall

Reddip · 29/06/2022 20:32

@Ilikenewbedding I am absolutely howling at this, you have made my day.

Georgeskitchen · 29/06/2022 20:41

These are my favourite kind of threads 😅

I'd been having a bit of afternoon fun with my husband in the bedroom wearing a mini skirt and a low cut top. Well you know men like to see the boobs, so they got pulled out over my top, carried on, mission complete. Went to the bathroom for a pee after and the dog was barking in the front bedroom window. I ran in to see what he was barking at to see the postman stood outside merrily waving at me. I waved back and ran down, where I caught sight of myself in the hallway mirror. Yep. Baps were still out. Almost actually died.

NotSoSlimShady8 · 29/06/2022 20:59

@TheVolturi baps 😂 love it

My Indian colleague explained that instead of writing 'BME groups' in the email, I'd mistakenly put 'BMW groups'. I was young and didn't think a simple typo was office crime of the century until they pointed out that 'BMW' stands for 'black man's willy

wtf. In whose word does BMW mean black man’s Willy? And what’s your colleague being Indian got to do with anything? Was this the 1950s?

DottyLittleRainbow · 29/06/2022 21:15

Fell down a double flight of stairs into a group of tourists as a teen, in a well known fast food place. No injury, not drunk or anything, just clumsy and bloody mortifying. I can at least laugh about it now.

TokyoTen · 29/06/2022 21:24

There was a guy I used to see almost everyday - he got to the underground station at the same time as me most days. I kind of of fancied him - would never do anything - but nice to look at. One morning I was a just a tiny bit later, it was raining, the train was in the station and I ran and jumped into the carriage just as the doors were closing. But it was wet, and slippy and as I landed my legs went from under me and I skidded across the carriage into him - as he'd got on seconds before me. I knocked him over onto the floor when i hurtled into him. I changed my route to work and I've never seen him since! I go red just thinking about being on the floor of the wet carriage tangled up with him. It was awful.

TokyoTen · 29/06/2022 21:28

OMG @SpaceJamtart that's priceless. Literally laughed out loud!

Athenajm80 · 29/06/2022 21:41

@stillvicarinatutu That is the kind of thing that happens to me with my sister. Your story has actually made me cry laughing because I can totally see that happening to me.

Donna1001 · 29/06/2022 22:02

Went to the vets, & went to sit on the end seat of a bank of some plastic chairs.

Somehow, whilst making sure my dog was calming, & watching a random dog that came over the greet us, I completely missed the chair & sat on the floor.

Not only that, my leg came up, not sure why, but I kicked the random dog in the mouth!

ZooKeeper19 · 29/06/2022 22:16

OK I usually do not have anything to add to these posts but one memory stands very vividly in my mind and will stay there forever.

I was 18, my dad just changed jobs and got hired by important big-name company. I was (and am!) a very good driver. My dad got a brand new company car, it was early 2000s so not that many where we lived. The car was delivered to an underground garage to my dad's office. Brand new, shiny.

I was there, I loved cars. My dad was going for lunch with his boss, having just joined the company. He asked me if I want to drive them, then take the car home so he gets a taxi. I said sure. The boss had doubts. The turn was tight right steep slope uphill. No space for mistakes.

You see where I am going. Everyone sat down, I started the car, put my foot down and rammed the whole right side of the car through the underground garage wall bending the front and back doors in the process. But once the car was in motion there was no going back so I had to continue upwards or I risked getting backwards down the hill and doing even more damage.

Suffice to say I still get nausea thinking about that moment. The car went straight back for a fix, and I to this day have flashbacks driving out of underground spaces (it's been many many years).

I suffered from an anxiety disorder quite severely when I was at college.

The controlling and generally quite nasty teacher made us go up to the front of the class in pairs and do this kind of rhythmic dance. Weird I know.

I got through the dancing part and then on the way back to my seat I Iet out the loudest fart. It came from nowhere and then a couple of little farts followed it.

ZarquonsSandals · 29/06/2022 22:19

Many years ago at work. Got my lunch in the canteen, got to a table, went to sit down and completely missed the bench. Food everywhere & me on the floor. That was a bit embarrassing - people seemed to think I'd fainted and I didn't have the heart to confess I was just an idiot with no spatial awareness.
