It’s going to be made into a film, so who would be your dream cast?

this is my first round choice -

Joyce - Lesley Manville (which my phone corrected to Mankiller), who narrates the book on audible.

Elizabeth - Stephanie Cole

Ron - if he was still alive I would definitely have chosen Warren Clarke. I am pondering my alternative.

ibrahim - Art Malik

Chris - Kevin McKidd

Donna - Faith Alabi

I'd watch the movie, but I was a bit disappointed with the book. I really wanted to love it!

I loved the first one and was slightly disappointed in the second as it was slower, more reflective somehow. But I reread it and really liked the pace and tone second time around.

I really enjoyed the first book, and the second to a slightly lesser extent.

I can't imagine this being made into a film though. A TV adaption would be better suited, surely?

Maybe I'm just more familiar with daytime TV 'cosy crime', like Midsommer Murders etc.

Could be, but I am sure I read Spielberg had bought the rights. So I assumed film.

And Roger Allam would be the perfect Douglas from book 2.

I wondered about Alison Steadman for Joyce, not sure, it really needs someone a bit mumsy.

I also think Pearl Mackie would be a good Donna.

The one who plays Jean in East Enders would be a good Joyce too
