Why are you awake?

Tell me why you're awake? It's 10 to 4 and I've been up since 20 to 2. I just can't settle. I have lots of physical disabilities and mental health issues and every little noise is sending me paranoid so I then have to check the doors and windows and make sure everything is closed and locked. This takes me some time, as I said, I'm disabled. By the time I've finished I'm wide awake again then I get sleepy, try to settle and the cycle repeats itself. I HAVE to check the doors and windows, it's like a compulsion and if I don't then the voices I hear start too making my paranoia worse.
Added to all that I have DD snoring next to me. She had a nightmare so she's in my bed and my god for someone so little she makes a heck of a noise.

The birds are chirping now too. Why are you up at this ungodly hour?

Trying to feed my 6 month old who has a blocked nose so she can't feed from the bottle properly but is hungry.
I've been up with her for the past hour and a half.
I also have anxiety so once I'm fully awake it can take me hours to get back to sleep as my brain just decideds to think about every tiny thing that has bothered me in the last decade and I get stressed out and can't sleep 😕

Silkierabbit · 28/06/2022 03:56

I just did chemotherapy yesterday so on steroids for that which keeps me awake. And so worried for my little boy, well he is 15 so not so little but he is mute and currently no education at all being provided. So worried if I die what will happen to him. Chemo has been easier than help for SN.

Sorry you have ocd that is stressful.

Twosidestwoplayers · 28/06/2022 03:57

Woken up by my 3yo. DH kindly settled him down but early pregnancy insomnia has stopped me from dropping back off anyway. Hope you are both able to let your worries drift away soon.

@Silkierabbit Flowers sorry you're going through chemo and the worry that brings. I also have a mute child, well, selectively mute. DD is 8 and struggles with speaking when her anxiety is high. Trying to get support for her is a nightmare so I guess it must be harder for a completely non verbal child.

@Twiddledeedee do you have a snot sucker? They're like a little bulb with a soft nozzle, you squeeze, stick it up nose and release and it should suck the snot right out. I don't know their real name as I always called them snot suckers. Congrats on the baby. They're so lovely at that age.

Both toddlers have had me up.

trying to go back to sleep up worrying about budgeting so doing some meal planning

HerRoyalHappiness · 28/06/2022 04:02

@Twosidestwoplayers I don't miss pregnancy insomnia at all! It always seems worse when you're pregnant for some reason. Probably because pregnancy is knackering as it is, let alone when you can't sleep!

@Narcheska sorry you're worried about money right now. So am I. Its a scary thought that so many people are struggling in what is supposed to be a rich country.

Early wee...

Seeingadistance · 28/06/2022 04:10

I have Covid - positive test yesterday - and my throat is so sore I can’t sleep.

itsgettingweird · 28/06/2022 04:13

Taking my ds to his swim training. That is normal on weekdays but today I'm just dropping him off and coming home and then I'm going to hospital for an operation.

Catclown · 28/06/2022 04:14

I have covid for the 2nd time right now, I had a little nap this afternoon and am now wide awake. Plus also have ds in my bed as he also has covid and dh is in ds bed to try and avoid the lurgy so he can go to work. Ds is a nightmare all flailing arms and legs!

I understand about hearing a noise though and having to check everywhere. Have you tried saying out loud when you have checked the doors and windows that they are shut and locked. Then if you hear the noise again you can tell yourself they are locked?

Hope u manage to get some sleep soon though x

UncomfortableSilence · 28/06/2022 04:14

I decided to sleep on the sofa as DH has Covid in a probably futile hope of avoiding it, have had about two hours as uncomfortable and my back is really hurting. I'm worried about DD2 who has also had Covid and seems to have developed some kind of fear of eating/drinking out of no where and I'm struggling to get fluids in her. Worried about missing work if I catch it, worried about DM who is currently really unwell and obviously I can't visit so yeah just a night of lots or worry Confused

Brew to everyone awake and thinking of those having a difficult time.

secretrugbyfan · 28/06/2022 04:15

Still suffering from the side effects of radio/chemo given back in February.....😪

yepmetooo · 28/06/2022 04:16

Scared, we lost our home 11 days ago in a fire and worried insurers are trying to get out of paying. I've just posted in legal for advice but can't sleep. If they don't pay out we have no home and no means to pay for it.

blackheartsgirl · 28/06/2022 04:18

just can’t sleep. We also have a puppy who had her first set of jabs yesterday and she was a little poorly last night so I’ve been checking on her.

got to do a full day in work today as well.

hope you get some rest op

dalmatianmad · 28/06/2022 04:18

I'm on a night shift, just having my 1st break since I started at 19.00.

It's been so busy. I've still got 9 ambulances sat outside with patients in the back and nowhere to put them. The longest has been sat out there for 4 hours now. Theres people all over the county waiting for ambulances but they're stuck outside waiting to offload, makes me so angry.
So sick of all this. Its bloody relentless.

Wish the GPs would start seeing patients again 🙄

Cuwins · 28/06/2022 04:21

4m old asleep cuddled up to me which means I can't sleep in my usual sleep position so just dozing a bit.

OnceBitten25 · 28/06/2022 04:23

I have Covid. Every muscle in my body is aching. Can't drop back off. Hope you all get some rest soon

FredaFox · 28/06/2022 04:26

No idea why I've woken but it's not uncommon for me
Got a cold, needed a wee and now been awake an hour. Got a headache and teeth hurt so must have Ben grinding my teeth unless it's my cold
Full days work ahead too
Same happened last week and never Fluor back to sleep 😞

paddingtonstares · 28/06/2022 04:42

I'm in a hotel room, work course today. I can't sleep away from home.

Same. Well, 3m. Tried to put her down once but she pinged wide awake. Can hear both her brother and sister stirring too so no doubt one of them will need me in a sec. Might just accept the day is starting now.

Sending so much love and strength to all of you going through a tough time.

@yepmetooo do you think there is a reason they’ll avoid paying out? I always assume the worst from insurance companies.

Goingtogoinsane · 28/06/2022 04:48

In hospital and been placed in a corridor rather than a bay and the nurse is watching love island

FredaFox · 28/06/2022 04:53

Still awake sigh got to be up in an hour 😭

Kezzie200 · 28/06/2022 04:57

Lost Mum 5 weeks ago. In many ways I'm dealing with it OK but I have always suffered with vivid dreams and they are now venturing into nightmare territory, involving Mum (who I was with when she died, albeit peacefully - which my nightmares arent)

Some nights I just fear sleep.
