I’m 41 - 42 next week. I’m in shock. This definitely means I’m pregnant doesn’t it? I was on the mini pill. My youngest is 12. DH is in shock - it’s our first together. I’m scared, I was drinking last week before I knew and I’m worried in case I’m too old, or there’s something wrong with the baby. But I want him or her already.
There’s no doubt is there? This came up immediately.

Thank you - I am ok. Poor DH is in more shock than me I think. He’s been looking forward to having more freedom! I am happy though - just surprised.

Congratulations OP. My third was a total shock baby as well. I'll never forget telling DH. It was hilarious. She is three now and we still aren't over the shock. Best of luck

Comgrats op! If its any comfort my mum had my brother at 41 and me at 42. We are both healthy happy 29 and 28 yr olds now.

Glad you're happy about it and hope things work out for you all. If it makes you feel a tiny bit better, I'm just days off my 40th birthday and am nearly 8 months pregnant. Our baby is looking good so far - no problems except being FLOORED in the first trimester!

I can’t sleep!

Just woke up drenched in sweat after a weird dream.

I had surprise ds at 38 when dc were in teens. I'll pre warn you it's bloody knackering having a baby when your older . Luckily he's the best thing that's ever happened to us. Congratulations!!

I am so exhausted- haven’t slept properly for two nights now! Just too much going on in my head. I’m really excited but scared in case something goes wrong.

Just take it one day at a time @Surprisedat42. I know it's a cliché, but it's the only way! My pregnancies in my forties were very straightforward. I felt sick throughout both and had acid reflux and feet like two loaves of bread, but no scary stuff. And both babies were born without incident. In fact I had very fast labours. No complications. I know there are more risks when you're older, but they aren't inevitable. Hope all goes well for you
