This is unequivocal isn’t it - I’m pregnant?!

I’m 41 - 42 next week. I’m in shock. This definitely means I’m pregnant doesn’t it? I was on the mini pill. My youngest is 12. DH is in shock - it’s our first together. I’m scared, I was drinking last week before I knew and I’m worried in case I’m too old, or there’s something wrong with the baby. But I want him or her already.
There’s no doubt is there? This came up immediately.

Wow! What a wonderful surprise!
I'm sure as the weeks go by, you'll get used to the idea
Congratulations

Ah congratulations. Hope your husband has his head wrapped round it now. I've had babies in my teens, twenties and thirties. All very different experiences. Enjoy!

Congratulations! I had my one and only at 42. No problems at all...

Clairejay34 · 29/06/2022 23:44

Congratulations! Do you know how far along you are?

Surprisedat42 · 30/06/2022 07:00

I think I’ll be 6 weeks on Sunday. The clear blue says 3+ since conception and the line has been strong on every test I’ve taken (5 now🙈).

DH is excited too now. He still thinks it’s madness but he’s happy. We told his mum and she’s happy and keen to have baby two days a week to help with childcare. I just know it’s early days so trying not to get too ahead of myself.

I would be angling for an early scan in case you are further on than you think. If you make out you are absolutely clueless as to when you conceived then they'll probably book you in for one. Or pay for a private one!

PaperMonster · 30/06/2022 07:13

Congratulations! I had mine at 42. X

Roselilly36 · 30/06/2022 07:16

Many congrats, wishing you a happy & healthy pregnancy OP.

BlueBloodedBlue · 30/06/2022 07:21

Congratulations. I had Ds2 at 41.

Please don't forget to start taking folic acid if you're not already.

Surprisedat42 · 30/06/2022 08:14

I’m on the folic acid already and trying to eat well. I’m really thirsty so drinking loads of water. I’m a bit scared to book an early scan in case it’s too early and they can’t see anything - which will send me into a panic. Was going to wait a couple of weeks.

I am going to book for the 16th July. I reckon that should be enough time for them to see something.

Just realised I’d miscalculated the date of my last period. I’m actually 7 weeks not 5!

If the line came up very quickly it may actually be twins, lots of hormones. That happened to me - came up whilst I was still peeing! As you get older sometimes more than one egg gets released!! Hope the scan goes well. Good luck?

Surprisedat42 · 30/06/2022 13:27

I don’t want it to be twins. I’m hoping it’s because I’m further on than I thought.

Congratulations! Glad you're both excited now it's sunk in. Fingers crossed everything goes smoothly for you!

Thecomfortador · 30/06/2022 14:15

Congratulations - I thought I didn't want another after 40 but seeing this is making me think, what if...
Fingers crossed it all goes well for you.

How’s the scan go @Surprisedat42
