Too Good to Go food app

I have just picked up by first bag from Too Good to Go- from Pret. It's really nice I got 2 Thai veg soups, a falafel wrap and a macaroni cheese...

It's an app to reduce food waste, mine cost £4 but i think it would have come to about £12.

So I just wondered if others use it and what you would recommend?

Weve used it but only have Starbucks and Greg's near us so we end up with a lots of pastry, nice as a weekend treat though.

We use it! Gregg's are good although sometimes I've had a LOT of bread (good for freezing though)and the local Costa usually allow you to pick what you want from a selection (e.g any of the sandwiches dated today and any of the cakes.) Although I've picked up from a different Costa in a neighboring town and they didn't let you pick your own items so I may just be lucky with our local one.

I got one from an M and S service station.

I got one of their best ever prawn sandwiches, a chicken and pasta ready meal, a pack of chocolate hot cross buns, a bunch of bananas and a small pack of courgette and feta parcels.

My DD has had a couple from Tim Hortons and got loads of Timbits and about 3 filled dougnuts each time. She loves those boxes but I personally wouldn't spend that much on junk food.

She also got a Starbucks bag once. She got a cheese and ham toastie and some pastries which was pretty rubbish.

I think it's a lottery, a FB group I'm on regularly has pictures of TGTG boxes, some are really rubbish and some are amazing.

I've not used it, but just downloaded, and it's amazing what's around. It's a great idea.

It’s not very good where I live, it only really covers Greggs and Nero type places and although I’ve picked up a good amount of food in the bags it’s not stuff I would usually buy so tend not to use it much. I changed the settings on my app to see what was available in the area my mum lives in and it’s amazing how different it is in different areas, she has carveries, restaurants and small local grocers putting bags up.

I think it depends on what places have signed up to it in your area as to how good it is.

I've used it a few times. Greggs and Starbucks were good - lots of cakes for the kids! But the one I got from a local corner shop was awful - 3 bags of iceberg lettuce and some lemon cakes that were 4 months out of date.

I got one from a posh bakery. They gave me a quiche and two doughnuts but seemed to treat me and dcs with contempt for having signed up for it.

That experience has rather put me off doing it again!

I've got it but every day without fail my bag is cancelled so can't comment really about how it's working!

We've used it but there's so few places signed up to it here, I've given up. We had some great bags from greggs but our local one no longer does it.

Ive got a few. Costa and Starbucks are generally rubbish and not worth the hassle. But I've had 2 amazing ones from Sainsbury's... really lucked out.

I've tried it, but there isn't much near me. I got a Morrisons bag which said it was worth £10 but it wasn't, maybe

Maybe £5 worth of stuff for £3.50. It wasn't food that I would normally buy so it ended up in the bin anyway. My sister gets good bags from Greggs.

I have used it a few times, really helps as there's a greengrocer who does great mixed bags of fruit and veg at weekends for £3-4 . Always a nice variety and helps me pa meals out and add some nutrients through the week

Yes, have been using it for a couple of years and it's great. Best bags are the M&S / BP garage ones which usually great stuff in and are good value. We have three teenage kids in the house so everything gets hoovered up quickly.

The Starbucks/Costa bags I'm not so keen on, the price might be 25% of original selling price, but when they're charging £4 for a muffin originally, it's still not great.

I use it for Upper Crust etc stands in the train station if we're going somewhere for the day. And there's a few takeaways use it near me so I sometimes get those. I like it because it's things I wouldn't justify paying full price for.

I've had a Greggs bag, which was good. We weren't impressed with Starbucks and a local bakery has started doing it - we enjoyed that one too. I keep looking but the good stuff goes pretty quickly or at a collection time I can't make.

I use it with a local baker and it's always goid value.

Ok, so look out for Sainsbury's and M&S ones...yes it seems to depend on what is nearby.

I love too good to go. I work in central London so am surrounded by places signed up to it.

I am a fan of the Ole and Steen magic bags - but only the central London ones, which have a lot in and are v good value. I got a bag from the High Street Ken branch which was stingy. Some of the grocery ones are fantastic, and one of the local Costas is very generous.

I've downloaded it and deleted it multiple times in the last couple of years.

There's never anything near us and even if I get a push notification saying there's stuff locally when I go on it it tells me it sold out the day before.

We don't have most of the businesses mentioned so far which probably doesn't help. I can imagine it would be much better in a city than in a smaller town.

We use it often for treats, most of the Greggs ones or Costa ones by me are all the vegan toasties, but I like them. On a few occasions we get some cakes.

I'm yet to try a supermarket one

I had the same experience from a stall at a farmer's market in London, very upmarket and I'm surprised the stall holder could see me from all the way up there on her high horse Sad

The bagel factory ones have always been great for me. But as people return to the office the pick up times are getting later and later. Some that used to be 4.30 are now 8 or 9 at night.

I've used it a couple times once at costcutter I think and the second at one stop. The first one I ended up with a fuck ton of pepper pig yogurts, some bread, double cream and a few other things. The second time I got 4 gammon steaks which I froze, some new potatoes, pizza flavoured cheese strings, a cheese and onion roll and 2 chicken tikka slices all cost less than a fiver. I really want to try the greggs and Costa ones but always seem to miss those. I find it ideal when money is a bit tight towards pay day

I had a really good one from Pret. Though it did cost £7. I once got a Greggs one and was told to pick any 6 filled rolls or sandwiches. A cake and any hot food item. For £2.95!! I froze most of it. But I never want to see a Greggs roll again!
