Does my belly button piercing look infected? (pic)

Got my belly button pierced 5 days ago and it was fine the first 3 days. Now it's gotten very red and itchy at the top hole but noticed the hole looks a bit weird.

Is this the start of an infection or just normal healing?

Really need another photo showing it front on to see the placement and swelling. Were you pierced somewhere reputable and is it titanium?

Ariel890s · 19/06/2022 20:16

Hi no it doesn’t look infected to me, try not to touch it to much and out a bit of salt in a bath if it does weep or go crusty maybe go to your local pharmacy

chillybandits · 19/06/2022 20:22

@LifeIsHardAlways front on picture! It doesn't seem too swollen to be honest, just got really red. It's not sore or that anymore though!

Yes to both, and she said she put a slightly longer bar in to give space for any swelling/movement.

@Ariel890s okay, thank you. I have been washing it once a day with salt water, just putting it in a cup and holding it on top for 5 or so mins.

That’s ok not too much salt it may aggravate it see

LifeIsHardAlways · 19/06/2022 20:37

Ok, placement looks ok. You haven’t got much room left on the bar, so just keep an eye on it. Sea salt soaks are always good, I normally do it 2/3 times a day. Remember just a pinch of salt in warm water and it must not be table salt, must be sea salt.
some redness is normal, as is plasma discharge. If it’s becomes hot as well as red and oozing pus, then it could well be infected. Piercings can also itch a bit whilst healing, though if it becomes very aggravated you could have a metal allergy.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 19/06/2022 20:59

That bar looks too short, taking into account the heat and potential irritation from clothing.

I'd go back and ask for a longer one, as if it does get infected or a bit grumpy due to a waistband, it's going to be too tight and painful almost immediately.

SucculentSunshine · 19/06/2022 21:38

Not infected currently but keep an eye on it

Savy12345 · 13/06/2023 03:38

Is my belly button piercing infected? I clean it about 4 times a day. I got it pierced last week. It was fine the first two and now itchy and red on top.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 13/06/2023 20:06

You're poking around at it too much. It needs to be left alone and not moved constantly to be able to heal.

Is my Belly button pierced infected or what I just got it done 5 days ago

You're poking around at it too much. It needs to be left alone and not moved constantly to be able to heal.

And the bar looks too short. Get the piercer to have a look and decide whether it needs changing out.

Lifeofficiallyoffbeat24 · 14/07/2023 21:34

I got a bellybutton piercing last Friday, but I'm concerned with the way it looks around the top part of the piercing. Does this look ok?

NeverDropYourMooncup · 14/07/2023 21:42

That makes a change.

You've had a shit piercing. Go and see an actual qualified piercer and get that piece of crap out of your body and the bar changed out if it's even possible before that migrates and pulls itself out of your body.

But in the meantime, stop poking around at it.

Howls · 14/07/2023 21:45

Well this thread has inspired me to not get a belly button piercing.

Lifeofficiallyoffbeat24 · 14/07/2023 21:51

I got it done at GradeA Tattoo and it came highly recommended in my area, it doesn't hurt all that much though. Is it really that bad?

Miya122344 · 29/12/2023 09:22

Is this normal I got it done 8 days ago

Looks a bit short. See your piercer, bathe it regularly in hot sterile saline and don't poke around at it.

Miya122344 · 29/12/2023 16:02

You don’t think it’s rejecting or infected

Best see your piercer about it - it might be swelling making it look short/tight or it's irritated by clothing, rather than infection.

StarlightLady · 29/12/2023 16:58

OP, this nay not be the cherry news you want. I’ve had mine done twice and both times, sadly, the body rejected it. It looked similar, keep a careful eye and don’t fiddle with it.

Miya122344 · 30/12/2023 22:01

Does it suppose to this help 🥲

NeverDropYourMooncup · 30/12/2023 22:33

Stop poking around at it, keep bathing/soaking it in sterile saline and see your piercer.

And if you hadn't noticed the general theme on this thread;

STOP POKING AROUND AT IT.

BernadetteStBernard · 30/12/2023 23:01

It's not a real comparison as mine is healed (30+ years), and I wear a ring not a bar (the ring is a little larger than I'd like but my original one broke after decades, but this is what a fully healed one should look like.

As others have said, the bar looks too short
