What food can’t you eat without always making a mess.

I had a cream slice for the first time in years yesterday and forgot how awkward they are to eat! I usually slice them in half lengthways but then the cream or icing side stick to the plate (I always save the iced side for last as it’s my favourite).

It’s impossible to eat them without making a mess.

I make a mess with most food to be honest Grin
Spaghetti bolognese is guaranteed to drop on my top though.

Croissants. I once worked for a French company and every trip to France I admired my female colleagues' ability to eat them without making crumbs or messing their lipstick. I always felt like such a frumpy slob around them! 😅

Mabelface · 17/06/2022 11:45

Everything! 🤣

WishILivedInThrushGreen · 17/06/2022 11:46

Anything sloppy.

And ribs.

That was very impressive of your colleague!

Yeah, just about anything.

We're going for Thai tonight, and I'm planning my outfit around what will best hide the sauce I will inevitably dribble down myself.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 17/06/2022 11:49

Anything with a sauce containing tomato or turmeric.

SummerLobelia · 17/06/2022 11:54

based on my tshirt right now- oranges.

DH yesterday started shaking up the last of the tomato sauce to get it to pur without realising the top was not securely sealed.

ketchup on walls, and ceiling.

dontgobaconmyheart · 17/06/2022 12:02

Most of it frankly.

Top contenders are probably a cup of tea where i'm dunking biscuits for sligthtly too long and haven't ever learnt the right dipping time before lifting them out, any pastry, and quite often a curry as well.

LubaLuca · 17/06/2022 12:04

Dunked biscuits. I go too long in, then too slow to mouth.

Turniptracker · 17/06/2022 12:07

Burgers! Is there a secret to eating them without them falling apart?!

Confirmingmyusername · 17/06/2022 12:09

Tacos!

TheFlis12345 · 17/06/2022 12:23

Sushi. Always manage to drip soy sauce on my top!

JessieOh · 17/06/2022 12:30

Fajitas.
We love them, but the kitchen roll is always placed on the table at the same time as cutlery etc because it just ends up everywhere.

Cut them in half

Pudsocks · 17/06/2022 12:38

Definitely tacos. There is no possible way to eat them tidily.

MollyRover · 17/06/2022 12:56

Thai noodle soup. It's a slurpy mess.

mizzo · 17/06/2022 13:03

I seem to make a mess whatever I'm eating or drinking.
I'm always ruining clothes with grease marks or tea stains.
Currently have a blistered cleavage from missing my mouth and spilling a scalding hot tea down myself.
My family make fun of me for trying to be dainty because I cut things up into tiny pieces, it might make me look like a goon eating pizza or burgers with a knife and fork but it gives me the best chance of not wearing my food!

Georgeskitchen · 17/06/2022 13:04

Invest in one of those plastic bibs with a lip at the bottom to catch all the mess 🤣😅

OneFrenchEgg · 17/06/2022 13:04

I watched someone (Katherine Heigl?) tear the bottom off a cupcake and place it on top to make a sandwich so she could eat it without the icing getting everywhere. Genius!

Just had a flashback to DS1 who would tuck in with gusto to everything his bib had caught from gravy and mash to yogurt and milk as a bonus third course 🤮

schnubbins · 17/06/2022 13:08

Whipped ice cream or a' 99' as we call them in Ireland .I always have it all over my nose.

bluechameleon · 17/06/2022 13:19

Chocolate éclairs. I like to eat the ends first so that I get the best bit last, but then it ends up in a sticky mess. Worth it though.

Greensleeves · 17/06/2022 13:20

Anything with flaky pastry. Spaghetti with a really liquid sauce. Soup. I'm a messy eater.

Fullsomefrenchie · 17/06/2022 13:24

Corn on the cob and ribs.
