Hello
I'm looking for recommendations for simple iPad games for my 2.5 year old. Clueless and have no idea what to look for. Thanks.

Pinkflipflop85 · 15/06/2022 18:56

For a 2 and a half year old? None.

Yodaisawally · 15/06/2022 19:02

None. Sorted.

Predictable responses...

Cbeebies playtime Island has a range of games that you can download and they're educational too quite often - the number blocks one is pretty good.

LaTangerina · 15/06/2022 19:06

Dr panda games, my play home, toca boca

Idroppedthescrewinthetuna · 15/06/2022 19:06

Mother of 3 here.

Colouring in books
Bubbles
Jack in a box
A bunch of keys.
Books
A pack of fidget toys!

Literally anything, no need for ipad, 15 years ago babies didn't have ipads, they don't need them now. Plenty of things to distract them with which are still in shops or lying around house!

Janek · 15/06/2022 19:07

Toca Boca. Some are more suited to younger children, but my DDs played with our Toca Boca games for years and years and years!

yoshiblue · 15/06/2022 19:07

Cbeebies have a few

00100001 · 15/06/2022 19:13

Don't go there. You'll be back in a few months going "my nearly 3yo is a moody arsehole when he's on the iPad...how do I stop his addiction?"

Albgo · 15/06/2022 20:03

@mamax123 he doesn't. My husband does.

The Peppa Pig World app is really good. It's a subscription one but it has loads of content and gets frequent updates with new games and things.

Hugasauras · 15/06/2022 20:06

There's a couple of nice Hungry Caterpillar ones too that begin with simple shape matching and get more complex.

Thanks, for the judgement. Your responses would have been much more appropriate if I'd asked "should I let my toddler play iPad games". But good for you.

I shouldn't have to explain myself but here goes. We're going on a very long car journey. My son doesn't travel well (gets very upset, won't sleep in the car etc).

Of course I'm going to do other things to try to entertain him, but I'd also like the distraction of something new for him to do as well.

Oh and if it's for a long journey, you can download episodes of things on iPlayer to watch offline, which can be handy!

I didn't judge. I gave a few alternatives.

To all the other posters who have replied with suggestions - thank you!

Some of these look great. I'm going to download (pretty well all of) them tonight and have a play to see which ones he'll like.

Id be tempted to download things to watch and get one of the iPad holders that clips to the seat personally!

I'm getting my husband to download a few bits tonight, but he usually only manages about 10 minutes before he loses interest.

I'm hoping (probably foolishly) that the interactive element of playing a game may occupy him for longer. 🤷‍♀️

the reason he is loosing interest is because he's 2 n half years old he doesn't need an ipad he needs entertaining not just a tablet been put in front of him

Marblessolveeverything · 15/06/2022 20:20

Just a small word of caution, my kids always were travel sick more with tablets books etc. Might be worth doing a bit of a trial run with whatever choice you make.

We went with toys that could be attached to car seat, an audio story, singing games, might be worth having a plan b,c and d just in case.

SlatsandFlaps · 15/06/2022 20:30

Lingokids is fan-bloody-tasting and really funny! Highly recommended

Albgo · 15/06/2022 20:31

@mamax123 oh piss off. You clearly haven't read my posts properly and you're massively judgemental and unhelpful.

Neither of my kids have had ipads in the car theyre 5 and 10. They get sick looking at screens or books in car what about the Julia donaldson audiobooks mine loved those

dottyrobin · 15/06/2022 20:36

I have all the cbeebies ones downloaded but the favourite is playtime island. I just set up a trial with the reading eggs (it's a 6.99 subscription I think) and my little one enjoyed that.

I don't see previous posters problems with ipads, if she ever does play up and demand / tantrum with it then she won't get it back. Never had any issues.

vera16 · 15/06/2022 20:36

Bimi Boo I as a favourite. Shape puzzles etc. that they can actually do themselves. Perfect for that age. Some parts are free and some you pay for.
