Honestly I’m about to jack it in and post elsewhere! It’s either crashing or the thread your in is constantly reloading and you lose any response you are writing. It’s utterly infuriating!

OP posts:
AlternativePerspective · 14/06/2022 03:35

didn’t you know? They have hired the most uniquely incompetent IT “experts” in history.

Firstly they took 3 years to develop the most crashy, bug-filled site in history, then they leaked several users’ email addresses, and now they’re crashing the site on a fairly random but regular basis.

All while laughing all the way to the bank.

You’d think that given mn’s salary bill is around £250k a month they could do better, but apparently not.

And they still have volunteer mods?

I asked about the pate crashing thing on sure things a few weeks ago and still no reply.

I browsed netmums last night. It seems to just be a polite version of mn. I may end up migrating.

AlternativePerspective · 14/06/2022 03:44

I actually seriously wonder whether Justine is looking to wind down the website, but that she doesn’t want to just jack it in because that would be more noticeable.

If the site becomes more and more glitchy more people will stop posting, and gradually people will move away and MN will just fade away. Much less noticeable that way iyswim. People will just say “MN became really buggy/they changed their site and people gradually just drifted and now no-one goes there any more,”

But if she shut it down overnight it could probably make it to the news and she wouldn’t want that kind of publicity.

It's always been basic especially the app but the latest 'upgrade' is awful so many bugs but nothing being done.

autienotnaughty · 14/06/2022 04:44

Yep since that update it's been awful. Posts showing new comments when there aren't any. Posts repeatedly turning up in watched when I've unwatched them. I get about 10% of my notifications. And the 10pm thing is annoying as it's when I go to bed and I like to have a look at a few posts to unwind!!

pedropony76 · 14/06/2022 04:45

bloodyunicorns · 14/06/2022 00:03

Yeah, just when I want to use it after a long day. It's shit! Please sort it out!!

It’s so annoying right! It always happens once I’m in bed around 10pm trying to wind down after both the kids are in bed ffs

ChagSameachDoreen · 14/06/2022 06:06

I always picture the MN tech team as a single weedy intern guy looking panicked behind a big computer screen.

The trouble is that's exactly what MNHQ want people to think. The reality is they have almost 100 staff members. The site has spent 3 bloody years working on an upgrade and if anything should be most usable right now.

The fact they actually take people's money for premium because they need help keeping the lights on and then run a site that is so glitchy, slow and often unaccessible completely is quite honestly disrespectful to those who chose to help out financially at a time where finances were tough for most.

They seem to be relying on the outdated myth that the site is run by a handful of people in someone's bedroom to stop people getting frustrated at the exceptionally poor standard of how the site is operating.

DarlingDarwin · 14/06/2022 06:23

I assumed it was my browser 😂😂

I suspect the many many adverts they are now selling our details to are just too much for it!

tigger1001 · 14/06/2022 06:28

The issues seem constant. No access. Threads showing "new" posts but there aren't any.

It's just becoming unusable.

BlueBlueCowWondering · 14/06/2022 06:35

Yes, can only agree.

site becoming so hard to use since the 'upgrade' that I'm bothering less and less with it

MissMarpleRocks · 14/06/2022 06:38

Glad it’s just not me. I’ve been here for so long though I don’t think I’d want to go elsewhere. Apart from the NM, Red place (too confusing) & the vile place that is tattle I don’t know any others. I don’t have twitter either 🤷🏻‍♀️

balletmuffin · 14/06/2022 06:40

It’s been an utter shambles since the switchover thing a couple of months back.

KangarooKenny · 14/06/2022 06:42

I’m assuming that they are still working on it as the notifications don’t work ?
This is the typical thing of spending money to improve what was absolutely fine before, and arsing it up. It’s like being at work 🤣

isthismylifenow · 14/06/2022 06:44

It is still just as bad this morning.

If I try to type on my mobile, I type a few words and then it decides to show me the typed letters as least a minute later...

So the balance of my post looks like sjquisdy bpklmun cgplmk.... Then I had to go back to edit it. And then the fucker didn't post after all of that. And the post was probably a fake one anyway. Grrrr.

I am definitely here way less now.

JuneJubilee · 14/06/2022 06:49

Fucking case in point! Just reloaded deleting my well thought out post.

losing the will...

CharSiu · 14/06/2022 06:50

I’m finding large adverts popping up over the actual posts the most annoying thing.

GoldenSongbird · 14/06/2022 06:50

Maybe they spotted the wave of trolls who start posting around 10pm every night and decided to disrupt them 🤔 In the old days it was every Friday night that the gf threads would appear. Now it's about 10pm every night.

Pollydonia · 14/06/2022 06:55

Its shit.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 14/06/2022 06:56

Oh God, I thought it was something I was doing wrong! The site is so slow to load and at one point I couldn’t load it at all - actually switched browsers to try to improve it. And the reloading pages thing is so annoying - I’ve lost so many posts I’ve been writing that way.

It’s easily the worst site I visit by some margin which is surprising given that it’s relatively high-profile - given that it offers a premium paid for service, you’d think it would function at a standard that merits that.

AlternativePerspective · 14/06/2022 06:56

And isn’t it amazing that the tabloids haven’t picked up a single one of these threads pointing out how bad things have got?

you’d think “mumsnet on the brink of collapse after a disastrous site upgrade” would make for a decent tabloid story, wonder how much mn are paying them not to run with it.

Dreikanter · 14/06/2022 06:58

I kept getting Cloudflare last night, so I wonder if there have been some DDOS attacks going on lately too?

AmaryIlis · 14/06/2022 06:59

There's an explanation in a thread on Site Stuff - www.mumsnet.com/talk

Dreikanter · 14/06/2022 07:48

Ah, a dying server.

Let’s hope that the lead time for a replacement one isn’t too long.

But how did that lead to all the Cloudflare messages? The old server is/was trying to stop MN posters using the site because the server couldn’t cope? Eh?
