I was browsing market place and came across a familiar looking group of books My abusive delusional ex husbands girlfriend is selling them for £5!! It did upset me as one is sentimental. (I need to forget and smile ) but its just so Bloody annoying what do you all think...... ( Also selling our Mirror from the living room ) Oh well is my standard thought but deep down Im fuming!

Can you not just go and get your stuff?

Thesefeetaremadeforwalking · 04/06/2022 09:28

If they were that important you should have kept them.

I don't think you have much of an argument for getting them back now.

Sorry.

DenholmElliot1 · 04/06/2022 09:28

Agree with PP - how come you didn't collect your stuff when you left? Could you go and collect it now?

spotcheck · 04/06/2022 09:28

Didn't you take your stuff with you?

ConfusedNoMore · 04/06/2022 09:30

Abusers don't always let us take our stuff. My ex put a bunch of my things on a skip rather than see if I wanted them.

I'd buy them or just go ask for them. Hope you are ok @NS1975 Flowers

ElenaSt · 04/06/2022 09:32

Maybe she fled and could only take a few possessions?

I can understand the jolt it must have given you.

Hope you are ok.

TheFlis12345 · 04/06/2022 09:32

Why don’t you just buy them back if they have sentimental value? Get a friend to do it so she doesn’t know it is you.

This is what the police are for - to make sure you can collect your belongings from abusers before they sell them or chuck them in the skip.

NS1975 · 04/06/2022 09:33

I just couldn't manage to collect everything on my own in a mini its been a while so Its my own fault for not getting everything. Its just upsetting seeing my stuff for sale online... oh well ! I was locked out of the house as he changed the locks then it got nasty he was sectioned arrested so ,.... not ordinary situation could not just go get my things.. I am going to try and lift my head up and forget. its all stuff anyway just very upsetting to see it on marketplace maybe they need the money!

For a £5, I'd pick the favourites and buy them, send a friend to collect.

NS1975 · 04/06/2022 09:35

Yes i have asked my son to try and get them back for me . so I hope to get it but won't hold my breath.

You couldn't add a couple of extra books? Make 2 trips? Ask a friend to help out with their car? Hire a van?

NS1975 · 04/06/2022 09:37

I have asked my son to buy them for me but he may just go and pick them up I hope

Sometimes you aren't strong enough to involve the police or anybody else and you just need out. Not sure why that's hard to understand.

The last thing I wanted to do when I left my ex was to make sure I had everything with me. I managed to get my daughter and her stuff, a bin bag of my clothes and that was it. He wouldn’t let me take anything else and I wasn’t going to argue. Nor was I able to return later to collect anything.
Sometimes, it’s just not possible.
OP, its just stuff. You don't need it, you're upset that shes selling it, which I totally understand.

And you couldn't resist posting a twatty comment on a sad thread?

CornishTiger · 04/06/2022 09:44

Instead of your son getting them back do you have a friend unknown to him who could buy them. If I was local to you I’d blinking do it!

NS1975 · 04/06/2022 09:46

yes thank you I know just browsing market place and saw them..

I don't think they were being twatty. If I had left stuff at an exes house I'd expect it to be binned or sold. Especially if there was a new girlfriend who might get upset about seeing my things in the house.

NS1975 · 04/06/2022 09:48

Thank you yes i need to just forget but this bought it all back . seeing my old home and mirror and my books all being sold like junk. But hey ho onwards thanks x
