I've just heard about Fletch! Depeche Mode are the soundtrack to my life. First gig at 15 and followed them ever since.
So sad 😞

My first band too in 1985ish I'm really shocked. So sad and he was so young.

Pretty heartbroken at this. Found out 3 hrs ago and still shocked.
60! no age. Natural causes too

It is heartbreaking 💔

Me too - despite my current user name I've been on every tour since 'Black Celebration' so sad and he was too young really- 60 is no age. How Dave Gahan is still alive is a puzzle given the life he has led- you could imagine Fletch pottering in his garden retired. RIP. 😢

I was so upset when I heard this.

They were the soundtrack to my teenage years, and I saw them so many times live.

So so sad, 60 is no age Sad

Bloody hell, I am so upset about this, tears are here. So many happy memories, corking tunes. Always left their gigs buzzing and with my heart bursting with the joy of seeing them again.

He was only 60. Sad news.

I've loved Depeche Mode since I was a teenager (I'm now 58). I found out 5 minutes ago that he'd died 😟 So sad. Only 60.

@mrsfollowill I said the same to my DH earlier.
Music for the Masses was my first tour. Not seen a better live band (and I've been to some great gigs).

can't thank you enough for the music.

@EeeByeGummieBear They were so amazing live weren't they ! - not all bands can hold a stadium in the palm of their hands like they did. This is probably the end of them as a band. Maybe Martin and Dave will release some solo stuff/collaborations but I can't see them performing as DM again now. Same with the Foo Fighters after Taylor's death. It all sucks!

I am really sad. First saw them live in 1984 and last time a couple of years ago in Antwerp. He was younger than my dh!

@FitYeDaeinYeMadRadge agree with everything you have said- pure joy! and the utter devotion from the fans. Last one I went to (trying to dredge the year up in my head!) lots of new young fans there too- talking 16- 20 yrs olds. Sigh!

I never saw them live but they were part of my teens.

I remember Fletch and Vince Clarke being in DM

So sad

Absolutely gutted. So very sad, I’ve loved DM forever and will never get to see them again, best live band ever.

Absolutely gutted. Saw them in London in 2016 (?) and again in Birmingham in 2018, incredible shows.
