Anyone else had a total shite week at work?

Moved areas this year doing a role I had previously been doing elsewhere. Felt like a fresh start and things have been going well. This week has just been awful and now a black cloud hangs over my weekend ☹️

Sorry OP don’t let one bad week colour your whole view of the job.
Having said that I started a new job (a second job as I already have one), this week, first day was a disappointment, it’s boring!
In my other job (a school) I had a very stressful week with a particularly challenging child and her horrible parent 😩
need wine!

Augend23 · 20/05/2022 18:22

Astonishingly shit OP.

I've had a hard couple of years through the pandemic and then made the grave error of doing my job well. Have therefore spotted a massive cock up (not caused by me) and now have to try and fix it. I'm not sleeping and have a permanent sick feeling.

What's gone wrong for you? Can you get anywhere to be able to zone out of your brain so you don't think about it?

grafittiartist · 20/05/2022 18:24

Me too! And I usually live my job.
This week I feel incompetent, useless and like everyone secretly wishes I'd resign!
I don't handle problems well- find it hard to bounce back.
I relate to the black cloud comment.
Let's vow to do something fun/ positive this weekend Smile

jammyrose · 20/05/2022 18:29

Not quite shit but frustrating and not so great. Love my job overall but it happens from time to time. Happy Friday!! Hope you have a good weekend. 😊☀️

grafittiartist · 20/05/2022 18:30

Obviously live should be love- but it feels like I live it too!!

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 20/05/2022 18:34

I have had a client who is a royal pain at the best of times. (Always wanting freebies) But this week she has discovered her boss is leaving, there is the complication of unrequited love/office bitch/power play in the mix.
As a consequence, everything is my fault as I’m the only one who can’t wfh and I am only a mere contractor….. can honestly
say I am not going the extra mile.

mnahmnah · 20/05/2022 18:35

Yep. Went for a promotion. Didn’t get it. Gave it to some external muppet with stupid hair and a canvas shopping bag who looks about 5. Humiliated and insulted. Tired of talking about to with everyone at work who brings it up. Urgh.

DoubleCarbs4Life · 20/05/2022 18:36

Yep. I’ve just been so knackered this week and work has felt like wading through treacle. Not helped by some difficult meetings with a few complete pricks.

Mentally drained. Trying to cheer myself up with a pizza & early night tonight.

DontKeepTheFaith · 20/05/2022 18:38

Yes, quite shit.

I’m a reluctant ward manager and this week has been a reminder as to why I never wanted to be a ward manager! Today resolved a few things though and although I have a headache, don’t feel so stressed and defeated as yesterday.

Yours sounds more shit op so I’m sorry about that, try not to let it prey on your mind over the weekend.

iklboo · 20/05/2022 18:41

Sorry OP. This week has dragged like a dog with worms.

Imsittinginthekitchensink · 20/05/2022 18:42

Mine has been shit too. I cried today and I NEVER cry at work.

Kekky · 20/05/2022 18:43

Sorry you've had a bad week. I have too … the worst ever, really as I have just been let go (small retail, due to dwindling non existent business)
Worst thing was that I'm pretty sure they have been trying to 'constructively dismiss' me for a couple of weeks by trying to piss me off to the maximum and hoping I'd tell them where to stick it. I didn't, but it doesn't make it any less shit.

Lovetok · 20/05/2022 18:53

Namechanged because it’s outing…
Yep! I’m a teacher and was unable to go on a school trip today as DC(4) has norovirus and was puking and shitting all night long. Literally got no sleep.
Managers sounded pissed off when I rang and told them this morning, and although my colleagues told me everything turned out fine, I take everything to heart and have been stressing all day. As well
as trying to look after poorly DC and having stomach cramps and praying I’m not going to vomit.
Solidarity! Next week will be better!

thesearetherichesofthepoor · 20/05/2022 18:56

Yes but I'm self employed so mainly because my websites getting no traffic so I'm getting no sales. rather than a difficult job or colleagues

Hope next week is better for you Flowers

I also had a totally shit week. I attended two funerals, one elderly woman who I am related to by marriage-she had had all her jabs, had covid once last year and pulled through but this time she got it, it killed her. It was sad to lose her, and it sucks that she lost the battle this time. However the second funeral was for a 17 year old boy, my sons best friend. He tried to kill himself on good Friday and had been on life support for weeks, but they pulled the plug and we buried him yesterday. It was the most horrific thing I have experienced and I am completely wrecked. I am hoping life starts to look brighter next week and we can start to process our grief now that we have said our goodbyes. Hugs to everyone else that has had a shit week this week :(

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 20/05/2022 19:07

@zoopigi i am so sorry. It’s not much but💐 . Truly hope the future becomes lighter soon.

TwoCoffeesPlease · 20/05/2022 19:07

Thank you for the commiserations all! It puts such a downer on Friday night when you know you have crap to come back to the next week.

I can’t give too much info but it involves verbal abuse followed by a huge cock up that needs resolving on Monday 😖

Solidarity to all!

@alphabet @2coffees thanks for the support

Yes, I started a new job five weeks ago and am really not enjoying it. I cried this morning (luckily I WFH so no one could see). Not helping that I’ve just come on and my periods are shit now,
presumably because I am in the perimenopause.

Tee20x · 20/05/2022 19:16

Yepppp I've had a terrible week too. Made a slight error of judgement at work which resulted in angry emails back and forth over a few days. Today, clipped the corner of someone's bumper while reversing - goodbye no claims. So annoyed with myself.

Manekinek0 · 20/05/2022 19:16

Yes, this has been the week from hell. Really hot and humid, everyone seems fed up or wants to be in the beer garden, I have new shoes that have rubbed, some bitchy office politics has been playing out (I keep out of it but the atmosphere is shite), I haven't juggled everything as well as I would have liked and will now be playing catch up over the weekend and to top it off I cut my finger on the joint (it's tiny but I can't bend it without splitting the bloody thing open each time).

I came home and fell asleep on the sofa for half an hour (I never nap but I am knackered) and then DC came in to bother me about snacks and let the door slam. Bath and early night (fingers crossed!). It should all feel better in the morning.

Argh that’s so annoying! And bitchy emails are the worst 😖😖

Sorry to hear this, I have cried at the start of every job I have had ever had if it helps. It always gets better 😘
