If you're a "healthy" weight, what's your BMI?

Just curious what the average healthy-weight-range person is really.

OP posts:

19.5

I’m over it at the moment but struggle to go below a BMI of 23 but I weight train and exercise quite a lot so carry a fair bit of muscle. That puts me comfortably in a size 10, sometimes an 8. Last time I went to a hospital appointment the nurse was shocked how much I weighed for my size! I tend to go off how clothes fit rather than BMI.

summerhello · 19/05/2022 21:01

Don't take any notice of the BMI.

A friend of mine is slightly shorter than me and weighs slightly more than me. She is a size 10 and I am two sizes bigger. She looks slimmer because she does a lot of exercise.

@emmathedilemma - exactly this

SecondarySnob · 19/05/2022 21:03

Barely clinging to the 24s.

Can tell I'm overweight for my frame though. Lots of flab.

AntarcticTern · 19/05/2022 21:05

I'm above a healthy weight, but DH is 18.5.

eurochick · 19/05/2022 21:06

My happy weight puts me at a bmi of 21-22. I'm currently still in the healthy range but towards the top and don't feel great.

LaurieFairyCake · 19/05/2022 21:09

Size 8/10

Look very slim now

  1. Feel like a moose. I’m happier at 21-22.
Verbena87 · 19/05/2022 21:11

What is a ‘healthy’ weight really? I’m reasonably healthy and mine’s 19.5. If I’m training hard for running it dips to 17.5 but I still feel healthy there and have regular periods. I have friends who are fit and strong with BMIs that put them in the ‘overweight’ category. It’s all bollocks really, I think.

Camomila · 19/05/2022 21:11

19.8 (Literally just calculated it now)

Trialsandtribulationsoflife · 19/05/2022 21:14

I went from 24.5 -where I had a belly like a Buddha and cheeks like a hamster- down to a BMI of 19 where I’m a very happy size 8-10.

N4ish · 19/05/2022 21:15

I’ve a BMI of 22 but would like to be around 20/21. Feel more comfortable then and clothes fit better.

Need to shed

Lastqueenofscotland2 · 19/05/2022 21:20

Currently 21. Would like to be about half a stone lighter but I keep eating like a horse every day

Svara · 19/05/2022 21:20
  1. I'm overweight for my frame at anything over 22.
Smarshian · 19/05/2022 21:24

My BMI is around 24.5, so very close to the top of healthy range.
I could do with losing a few pounds, am a comfortable 10, but would prefer to be closer to an 8. I do a lot of exercise though and am quite muscular.

ChristinePerfect · 19/05/2022 21:24

23, I used to be obese.

Mushroo · 19/05/2022 21:33

currently 23.7 but I feel at my best when I’m about 20/21. Need to lose the lockdown pounds!
