Unexpected weekend alone...

HandbagsnGladrags · 18/05/2022 12:20

What to do? Husband going away unexpectedly and it's too late to arrange stuff with friends. Haven't spent a weekend on my own in a long time. Should really relish the me time but I find myself a bit lost which is a bit pathetic! No kids at home, but I do have a puppy to keep me company.

What would you do with a weekend to yourself in my shoes? Have come on here for inspiration.

Amazing! You dont even have to speak to anyone!

Mine would revolve around being outside, food and booze.

Saturday:
Get up and hit the gym.
Dog walk.
Nice cafe for eggs benny and a few coffees.
Visit a garden centre and get some nice new plants to put in the garden.
Chill in the garden and take the dog for a walk.
Come back via the pub. Find a nice spot outside and have a few drinkies in the sun with a book for company.
Home and snooze.
Order in some nice takeaway and have a few more wines
Quick dog walk
Fall asleep on sofa

Sunday:
Clean the house, do the washing...generally catch up

Lovely.

If I had a child and DH free husband and friends weren't free:

  • gym and swim
  • delicious brunch
  • READ all day long as I don't have time
  • Long walk
  • TV or read more
  • long relaxing bath and read some more
  • delicious tea
  • bed and read
GalactatingGoddess · 18/05/2022 12:37

*weekend not husband 👀

HalloHello · 18/05/2022 12:44

I'd stay in bed an obscenely long time, multiple coffees and a good brunch, do some gardening, pop to the shops, good bath and pamper, order takeaway at 4pm for an early tea, open a bottle of wine and park my ass on the sofa with a good box set.

Sunday, I'd probably do the same but maybe cinema too, food shop for the week and cook a nice tea. Sounds amazing!

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 18/05/2022 12:46

I'm so jealous. I'd sell my Nan for this opportunity 😁

Whatever you decide OP ... have a bloody awesome time!

ilovemyboys3 · 18/05/2022 12:46

Hmm I would be a little lost also. Even a day or evening to myself I find myself bored. Do you have your parents local, or siblings to drop by? I'm very close to my family so I'd drop in to my parents and stay for dinner or suggest a shopping trip and lunch with my mum. If none available then I would be bored 😂

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 18/05/2022 12:47

I'd blast through as much housework in the week as I could manage so I had less to do when they were away.

I'd lay out a jigsaw on the dining table to work away at over the weekend. I'd do the same on the coffee table with (my currently ignored) a paint by numbers kit. I'd drift between the two, the fridge and the kettle over the weekend.

A walk somewhere different, grab some food there to bring home. Drink wine and watch a movie with the food.

A long shower. Fresh sheets. Start a book.

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 18/05/2022 12:47

I love how everyone is suggesting early tea ... it is literally THE BEST thing to do! Especially if your proper slobby and get into jimjams first!

Hbh17 · 18/05/2022 12:49

Not speaking to a single soul for 48 hours is the best thing about a solo weekend - just fabulous.
All the other stuff will depend on your interests (theatre, cafe, sport, dog, garden etc etc).

Iamnotokifyouarenotok · 18/05/2022 12:50

Just make the most of it and enjoy

Lie in until at least 10
Shower
Dog Walk
Bit fry up brekky
Dog walk
Take away
Bottle of wine
Sunday
REPEAT

sleighbellsjiggling · 18/05/2022 12:53

Oh enjoy!!

My list would be
Wine
New tv series in pjs
Reading
Pampering
Awful food (in the nicest way)
A wander around the shops

I'm sighing whistfully just writing that 😂

HandbagsnGladrags · 18/05/2022 13:07

Ah I knew you lot would cheer me up and give me ideas - thanks!

Lie in not possible with the puppy unfortunately but yes to all the rest!

Was going to invite my mum over til I phoned her and she did my head in within the first 60 seconds of the conversation so will sack that one off and stick with speaking to no one!

Coffee/brunch in town, look around the shops, pick up a nice bottle of wine. Maybe a nice walk in the countryside. Takeaway and a book/series on netflix 🤩

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 18/05/2022 13:26

I am alone til tuesday, dh just left, it's me and his puppypantness. I am going to stroll to the fish shop, buy expensive things and plan fancy dinners

No lie in cos the plumber is coming tomorrow, but after that it'll be late nights with netflix, watching the tv in bed, getting up and making coffee whenever I like, taking food back to bed.

I have visitors on friday, one child coming for lunch and the other coming to collect stuff.

I have some diy to do so I can stretch that out over a few days and follow rabbit holes about secret bookcase doors on the internet.

And eat beetroot right out of the jar!

Lonecatwithkitten · 18/05/2022 13:32

I am alone 22/23 weekends a year.
Have tea in bed first thing.
Crack on with washing early and shopping.
Walk dogs
Do work related study.
Get into pjs early watch want I like eating what I fancy then crocheting.
Occasional trip to garden centre potter in garden etc.
Love my weekends just with the pets.

smith19784 · 18/05/2022 13:47

Ohhhh I would love this.
I'd lay in late with coffee and crap tv then have a lovely breakfast and go somewhere for a mooch around the shops.
Back for takeaway and wine and an early nice. Then on Sunday out for a walk somewhere, read my book & generally not make too many plans.
Sounds blissful. Enjoy.

orwellwasright · 18/05/2022 14:00

Long walk, favourite food, afternoon bath. Lots and lots of reading and wine. Enjoy!

Treecloudtree · 18/05/2022 14:02

The girliest film I can find, my favourite dinner, so many naps. Ahhh have fun!

HandbagsnGladrags · 18/05/2022 14:06

I feel like this might have been so much more relaxing without a puppy who is a knobhead 75% of the time!!
