Just settling down for a wild night of sewing. I can work out where most of the badges go, but I don't know how you categorise this one and Google's no help. One of you must know.

Down the side of the sofa

Mantelpiece

On a unit near when you keep your sewing box

Br1ll1ant · 12/05/2022 18:48

Top left chest I think

cliffdiver · 12/05/2022 18:48

Sorry just reread your post...

I thought you'd lost the badge.

Twat (meBlush)

I have Brownies, so no help, sorry.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 12/05/2022 18:49

Above the purple badge on left chest.

wonkylegs · 12/05/2022 18:49

It's an official occasion badge so goes at the top bit marked on this

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 12/05/2022 18:49

Haven't been able to lose it unfortunately - have tried. Got to see the bugger on.

*sew.

Brilliant, thank you!

Turns out it goes right where there's a curry stain, so I can cover that and delay washing it another week. Bonus.

If your Cub has his Skills challenge badge (hexagonal red ones) he/she can sew on a badge. If they havn’t, then get them to do it, and will count towards it.
When I was a Cub leader, I loved seeing wonky badges that had obviously been sewn on with massive stitches by the Cub and not their parent.

Tim Peake has his in the right place.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 12/05/2022 19:37

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads ooh, there's a thought! He doesn't have any yet, but I'll certainly bear that in mind. Till then he'll have to settle for wonky badges with massive stitching by his mum Grin I have yet to sew one on without realising halfway through that I've accidentally sewn two different bits of the jumper together.

I thought you were suggesting where the OP should hide lose it @cliffdiver and I was very amused by your great suggestions!

Ionianprincess · 12/05/2022 19:41

DS has just joined the beavers and fuck me what is with all the sewing!! Why aren’t they iron on in this day and age!?

scrivette · 12/05/2022 19:44

That's lucky I took a guess and sewed it in the correct place (along with the 8 other badges I hadn't got around to putting on).

lookforthesun · 12/05/2022 19:47

@Ionianprincess bevause when they move up to cubs they all have to be unstitched and resewn onto the cubs jumper or camp blanket. It’s torture. I have two cubs and a massive backlogging of sewing waiting for me to get on with.

DH said exactly that before buggering off to the pub.

Ha!

I was thinking where the Brownie badges usually are when I can't find them.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 12/05/2022 19:51

Last Easter, when sessions commenced again, my DDs brought home 58 badges between them.

I would curse the leasers but... I am one!
I'm also way behind on this years sewing.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 12/05/2022 19:52

Top tip for sleeve badges... put a bottle down the sleeve. It makes it a lot easier (and you don't sew the sleeve together!)

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 12/05/2022 19:53

There is also badge glue but I didn't say that...

(Hiding from Badge Police)

Sminton · 12/05/2022 19:54

So much sewing! and then they all have to come off and be sewn again onto the camp blanket. It really is a form of torture!

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 12/05/2022 20:13

I did not know about this camp blanket business.

I am working on a conspiracy theory about cubs/brownies being a diabolical scheme to keep women back in the 1950s. I note Baden Powell was a Tory.

Bottle down the sleeve is a great tip though!

What?!

Convince your child that keeping them on the jumper is better, and that a camp blanket might get lost, muddy or wet. My son's badges stay where they were torturously put. We keep said item of clothing for posterity. I do move the ones that need to be moved onto the next stage of clothing cough or wait til my MIL visits or sometimes send it all to her in the post and she returns it all sewn on 🤣
