I'm baking these rhubarb crumble bars today because we're having a roast so the oven will be on. I'm also baking cakes and a crumble for later on this week.

Some of the best I’ve made have been at a BiL’s huge place in France, where there are always a lot of people, plenty of rhubarb in the garden - and very often a lot of fruit that needs using up - esp. the strawberries - locally bought ones barely last a day - peaches and nectarines, and an apple or two.
So an ever-varied mix, but with about 50% rhubarb.

Might add that French neighbours who are often invited, love our crumbles!

Around Christmas time a Bramley apple and mincemeat one always goes down well, especially the week after, if there’s mincemeat to use up. Must be Bramleys though, otherwise the mincemeat makes it too sweet.
I never peel apples for crumbles, just core, slice and chop.

Should have been crimble crumble!

Yes definitely, and thank you for the reference. Paul Ritter RIP.
